Not hating it... but there is a LOT LOT LOT more optimism in these picks than I expected...

I will say down in this area (near Louisville) the feeling is pretty much that the worst is over... None of the coaches or assistants are left, none of the players are left, the president is gone, the banner is gone, they have been on scholarship reductions... Yes not all of this is FBI related but the punishments happening concurrently is basically the argument.

I understand we beat nobodies without Phinisee, you said everything changed when he went down, but he has been available for all of this losing streak.... he is not the difference maker.... (neither is Green obviously as he has been there for a good part of losing too) I don't understand this line of thinking.... we are equally bad with or without him? He either helps the team or he hurts them... as do all players, to say we are equal without him doesn't compute. Your opinion is that he hurts the team, mine is that he helps the team. You think he is just a warm body, I think he has a lot of skills that most on this team lack and those are skills that we desperately need.

You are the one that said we weren't worse without him at Northwestern... I agree we have been bad and he has played in half of the games in this losing streak... Yes I can compare the first NW game because we didn't look good then either and barely escaped with a victory... you think we are playing so much worse now than we were then? I think we are playing the same BAD basketball we were playing then... the opponents just have more tape and the blueprint on how to shut us down. Nothing dramatically changed between the 1st NW game and the 2nd... except no Green in the 2nd. (also home vs away). So Green not being there makes no difference but this is all related to Phinisee going down... you do realize we were 2 of 3 (3-4 if you count the first game when he went down after playing 7 minutes) without him right? And we weren't winning @ Michigan regardless... I completely disagree that the teams struggles are not effected by a veteran player getting lots of minutes is all of a sudden no longer available. If you don't see what he brings to the court then maybe you need to take off the hate filled blinders. I see ill timed and forced shots... not just from Green but from EVERY player on this team (well except McRoberts & Fitzner because they basically refuse to shoot when when open). You said "We don't need kids trying to do what they can't do just to do it." that pretty much sounds like "never" as well. Yes I think Green should take more open shots and more volume of our 3 point attempts as I have seen he has one of the better strokes on this team. I would rather Green force a shot over Justin trying to create and turning it over, or McRoberts or Fitzner avoiding a shot and getting a Shot Clock Violation... i would rather Green force a 3 vs Rob or Romeo trying to drive the lane and having no where to go yet they try to force it up in the middle of the bigs.... We need Green!!! And I for 1 am very hopeful that he makes the trip to East Lansing and helps my Hoosiers break the streak!

We weren't worse at Northwestern without him how? What makes you say we weren't worse? We beat Northwestern with him (albeit at home) and we lost without him.... I am sure that is too much of a generalization but going back and looking at stats we sure could have used him in that game.... Haven't re-watched to see specific examples.. "We don't need kids trying to do what they can't do"? So should we never attempt another 3 point shot this season? What would be an acceptable percentage to be allowed to shoot? Green is shooting 36% this season (so if water finds its level it could go up if he keeps shooting)... nobody is above 40% on this team for this season. This season A:TO is 1.5:1 which is 3rd on the team (McRoberts is 2nd).... I completely understand you do not like him as a player.. I get he frustrates you... I get your "eye test" is something he fails miserably... however to say that he is not helpful to this current team doesn't make any sense to me.... everything that everybody is saying we need is what he COULD bring... not that he will but it is in his ability unlike the others mentioned for playing time. **** "You" in this last paragraph is a generic You to a lot of people.... not specifically saying You = Old Friend....

We have definitely played WORSE the last 2 games without him.... Hopefully he comes back with his mind in the right place, doesn't sulk, and tries to become the leader and shooter we desperately need. Also saw De'Ron is not shut down for the season... supposed to have him back around Mid-February

Agau doesn't really play more than spot minutes but those other 4 see a lot of action... UofL fans were dreading this season coming into it but they got very good Grad Transfers in Cunningham & Fore.... if not for those 2 guys they would be struggling... they also have a lot of shooters on the roster.... If only our Grad Transfer would have worked out for what he was recruited for... Definitely something to be said for age and experience in college basketball.

At some point? I know the rumor was 3 games... so should have him back at Michigan State....

Maybe it is just me but I love to look at statistics and manipulations and see where it leads me. Everybody can use the "eye test" but everybody sees something different or at least sees it in a different way. Statistics are fascinating because they are what they are yet they are also so very open for interpretation. Well this stat is higher because of that... or this stat would be higher but the plan doesn't allow for it... type of influences. He is 3rd in Assists, however Green is also 3rd in TOs. Per minute played Green is #1 Assists & Steals and even though he is also #1 in TO's he has the 3rd best Assist/Turnover ratio on the team. Zach McRoberts - Next up is McBob who is also at the center of a lot of Playing Time discussions. It is the hustle plays that give him any minutes at all and they are surely not reflected in a statistical analysis... but he is shooting 50% on the season he just refuses to shoot.His stats are limited but he has the #1 Assist/Turnover Ratio on the team and is 3rd in Rebounds per minute played. Justin Smith - Continues to drive me crazy on the court (via my Eye Test) but after looking at the Stats he is contributing nicely. #3 in Field Goals made, #3 at Free Throw attempts (drawing fouls is a grossly underrated part of winning ball games). #3 in Points & Rebounds as well. The bad part of his game is that he is #2 in Turnovers in both total and per minute played. I purposely started out with the guys that get the bad usually... but will end with the good... Romeo Langford - As expected he has played the most minutes, and attempted the most shots, he is our go to after all. He is our #1 scorer and has attempted more FT than anybody else on the team (He has shot more FT than ANY 2 players on the team combined). But for all this he has his flaws as well... he has the most TOs on the team, and he has attempted the most 3's while only being #6 on 3's made. He plays tough on both ends of the floor though as he is #2 in Blocked Shots & #3 in Steals. Juwan Morgan - The counter-punch to Romeo is 2nd in every category that Romeo is 1st and is basically 1st in all the others. Juwan is leading the team in 3s made while only being 4th in 3s attempted and he is #2 in Points scored. Leads the team in Rebounds & Blocks.

Phinisee back (86 minutes in 3 games), Devonte (14) & De'Ron (3) missing lots of time.... Romeo - Over the last 3 games has dropped to our 5th scorer... and 5th in minutes (lots of Foul Trouble). 0-8 from 3 only 9-32 overall shooting (28%) and struggling from the Free throw line again (7-13). 2nd most turnovers over this 3 game stretch and as he is our 2nd leading shot blocker has not registered a single block in 3 games. Shooting Woes - We are shooting 36% in these last 3 games (61-169), 18% on 3s (11-61), and only 57% from the line (34-59). Morgan is shooting just over 50% and Justin just under 50% nobody else is hitting anything... and from 3 it is worse... Phinisee is hitting 33% (6-18), and nobody else is better than 25%... rest of team is 11% (5-43), with nobody else hitting more than 2 in 3 games. Ball Control - We have more turnovers than assists in the last 3 games combined. (31-34). Durham, Phinisee, & McRoberts are the only guys with a + ratio.... Morgan is even and everybody else is - SCARY POST.... :(

De'Ron, Clifton, Jake, Johnny, Quentin, & Race.... (I know you weren't seriously asking). These are the guys that haven't... just because Blackmon has hit 1 doesn't mean he should get any minutes beyond a blowout... Everybody wants different results and I get that but I don't think it is just Archie playing the guys who practice the hardest... If you put these other options in the game do you really think it is going to be some magical cure? Or are you just interested in change because the current guys aren't getting it done? What if we did play those guys and still lose... then what? Cut everybody and get 13 new scholarship players? Go visit the Hyper to look for some last minute walk-ons that hit some 3s in there? Are we seriously asking for the bench guys to come to our rescue... the ones everybody wants to play have scored 71 points in 238 minutes.... basically the same as Fitzner and everybody wants him to never play again.... They have 49 rebounds... to 48 for Fitzner.... 10 assists to 9 for Fitzner....
