Haven't you been paying attention? It doesn't matter why they are on ESPN it definitely still counts.... Especially with Recruits because they don't change channels, they only watch what ESPN spoon feeds them.... Only real basketball people would watch if it was on other channels but since it is on ESPN all recruits nationwide will have all eyes on us and it could help or hurt our perception.

The fact that almost 50% of our shots are under 8 feet I would say it is the offense itself creating those shots and not the other team giving us free looks. The reason our slot selection is so good is because we drive the lane and post up so often.... The defense has to defend that heavily because that is what we are trying to do, which makes the outside shots more wide open so they also count as a good shot.... and one contrived based upon on offensive sets.

Is that even an option? I was under the impression that a Booster couldn't earmark a donation like that.... unless it is something like naming rights to a building or something.... can a booster come in and say ok I have $15 million dollars that I will give you right this moment if you Fire Archie now... these funds are only to be used to pay for his Buyout, the Buyout of "Oats" (just as an example), and to pay "Oats" salary for the 1st year of his new contract.... Is that something that could conceivably be done? I get that boosters may have some influence, may have the ear of the university/AD/President.... but do they really have a final say in anything? OR is it something like I donate $15 million dollars every year, and I go tell them I am not donating anymore until Archie is gone... type situation?

$10 Million is not much different from $14... it is still a hard thing to come up with.... there is a lot involved... like you are pointing out we "may" not have to pay Archie the full $10 Million up front, but we will still be paying him something..... on top of paying the buyout for whoever we choose (unless you are a proponent of Thad Matta type who isn't currently coaching) + you have to pay the $4 Million for the new coaches salary at IU.... I am sure there is a lot more to it than even that, concessions, moving expenses, assistant coaches. etc... It is not a cheap option to get rid of Archie this year... after this year his portion goes down but all the other portions stay the same, therefore it makes a big difference.

I get your point... but the other side is.... IF we fire Archie we will be better.... that to me is just as big an If as any of the others mentioned.

I think they should be made up, and the team that didn't cancel should get priority in setting the date and time.... otherwise just cancel the whole season and be done with it... (I DON'T really want that, but with the way we are playing I don't really care as much either LOL). The thought of making them forfeits is one thing, but the committee isn't going to view a forfeit victory as anything special on anybody's resume. Michigan canceling at least 4 games and that is with 0 positive tests! Any Coach or AD can just manipulate the system to whatever seems most advantageous to them... that's crap, make them make them up, and make them do so on other schools schedule and if it means they have to play 4 games in 7 days or something then so be it!

I agree on Rob & Race and it is hard to pick... I guess Rob based on points and leadership.... When they started pressing at the end Franklin gave it up, Al was hurried, but Rob was calm and collected no issues... When we started Rob hit a few shots and NEVER let up on defense. Race was a monster all night and Garza wanted nothing to do with him.... I thought some of the fouls called against him were pretty weak and if he wasn't in foul trouble Garza may not have ever scored (tic)... I get that TJD does some good, but he was nowhere close to the MVP race last night.... he scored some points only because he is the focal point of our offense but I thought he was terrible all night long.... couldn't hit a FT, seemed timid and scared of Garza to start, had 1 really nice spin move and immediately started trash talking... then 4 straight possessions forced terrible "shots" (he actually got the ball and hurriedly threw it at the rim/backboard, I wouldn't even call them shots)…. He makes some big plays and when he does it is big time motivation to get the rest of the team going but....

UofL is right back to landing top tier classes.... for now... but they have yet to receive their punishment... they punished themselves... and the NCAA took away a banner, but the real legs of the punishment haven't been seen yet and I believe they are going to be major (as do all my UofL friends down in this area)…. Rules / Cheating is definitely part of the issue with Cal.... but it isn't the whole reason I wouldn't want him. As I said I don't think he would win here... I don't think IU could be turned into a 1 and Done Factory like UK allowed him to do... I don't think the administration or the fanbase would let that fly... my few UK fans tell me at the beginning of every year that they can't talk to me about their team yet because they don't even know the players names from 1 year to the next... for me that is NOT OK... To me Cal thinks he is the program... he always wants the spotlight on him... if he loses the players aren't buying in but when he wins he is upfront at the NBA Draft, and his recruiting pitch is I GOT THESE GUYS TO THE NBA (nevermind most were going regardless). There is a specific type of coach that to me (personal opinion) scream sleazy and I wouldn't want anything to do with any of them no matter the wins (Calipari, Pitino, Pearl, Alford to name a few) I want a coach that WINS, not just on the court but in the family living room, in the interview, in the locker room! WINS EVERYWHERE, no matter what he is doing... has the look, the talk, and the action! WINS

Agree 100%, and most of the same people that wouldn't be ok with Calipari or Alford also wouldn't be ok with Knight currently.... I love what he means to IU, but I wouldn't want those optics right now either... even given the wins...

I for 1 don't think Cal would win at IU as a first point.... 2nd there is a large portion of the fan base that cares about the optics, and the HOW..... the WHOLE fan base wants to win, but not the whole fan base wants to win no matter the cost.... some things in basketball (and life) are more important than winning.... A priest wants to go to heaven.... but is he willing to sell his soul to the devil to do so? (Not calling Cal the Devil, just an analogy)

I am very barely hanging on.... I like his demeanor (I know some have this as a big negative), I like his defensive scheme, and I actually am in the camp that the offensive scheme isn't bad.... (we get the open looks, and I don't think that is schemed by the opposition to let us have them).... BUT we have to Win! And that is something he hasn't been able to do consistently enough to keep me fully on the train. I put a lot of it on the players, I put some on the other staff (Weight training etc), but as the Head Coach he has to get some (a lot some)... This thread is the first I had heard of the players not really liking him (aside from some of the guys I considered trouble guys that he inherited)... but if the kids he is recruiting end up not liking him, if he is not approachable by his team, his guys, then that is a very big problem and would be enough to push me out of his camp.

No not all... although that would also be a true statement. He specifically said "College basketball, as with every sport, will be GUARANTEED to have a record every season of exactly a .500 winning percentage. No better, no worse. " So not every team in the world, but in College Basketball the overall record is always .500 You tried to add in stipulations making an assumption he was only saying D1 teams.... but admonish others for adding stipulations that it is what the committee considers, or for SOS, or whatever else....

It is not false it is 100% true. And it has to be... Every game has a winner and a loser, therefore overall the record of EVERYONE is .500 Don't add stipulations that some play D2 games, because D2 teams are part of college basketball as well... every one of their wins and losses count too... he didn't say D1 is always .500 he said ALL of College basketball is .500 every year.

Give Jeff Walz a call.. he currently makes $1.5M per year... is only 49.... has great personality, fire, emotion.... Completely changed the view on UofL Womens Basketball...
