Indiana vs. Syracuse Post-Game Thread

I think Luke Fischer brings more to the table offensively, which will ultimately lead to him getting more minutes than Hanner. Perea is an incredible athlete that's very raw right now and just isn't very good. He has a long way to go. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

There are no leaders on this year's team, and we desperately need one. Stan Robinson played well at first, but he was downright terrible in the few minutes before he was taken out. The fact that he may be considered our best bench player last night shows just how bad we played. I didn't think Davis played well either. Hanner was okay. Indiana MVP vs Syracuse Poll

Let's not act like Yogi played really well. Other than his two threes late in the first, I don't remember him doing anything. Vonleh was the lone bright spot in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

The comments regarding players not believing they could win has me very concerned. Potential will take you nowhere if you don't believe you can win. Opinion on the team has changed drastically. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

It could be worse. We could be Illinois. I really don't think Michigan is very good. I expect Indiana to beat them this season. Hopefully the players do too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I'm a bit worried about a team when a coach believes his players didn't expect to win. Love the talent and potential of the sqaud though. -

Not a big Sheehey fan at all. Not a huge Yogi fan either, but I like him a lot. Glad Crean didn't call a timeout and let his players sit and take their beating. -
A very, very disappointing performance, especially since we once took the lead after being down 10-0. Vonleh played well, Yogi was okay, and everyone else was downright awful. I'm not the biggest Sheehey fan in the world, and I'm even less of a fan after tonight. Crean said he thought his players were surprised to be in that game, which somewhat explains the second half. If it is true that Indiana players were surprised to be in the game, I'm glad Crean didn't call a timeout and let them sit and take their beating. A lot of work left to do.

Since the ACC/B1G Challenge schedule was released, Indiana Hoosier fans have been waiting anxiously for this game. For the first time since their defeat in the Sweet 16, the Hoosiers will square off against the Syracuse Orange. Not only is this a chance for revenge for Indiana, it is a great test for the young Hoosiers, as they will go up against a menacing zone on the road against a top five team. If they win, this matchup will also be great résumé builder for IU once March rolls around. Syracuse has had its share of struggles this season, most notably surviving a scare at home against St. Francis (NY). Looking much improved, the Orange recently played in the Maui Invitational, defeating Baylor in the championship game. Senior C.J. Fair leads Syracuse. He is averaging 18 points and six rebounds per game, shooting 45% from the field. Sophomore Trevor Cooney is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14 points per game. Shooting 46% from three, Cooney is the Orange's best perimeter shooter. Scoring 14 points and grabbing seven boards per game, sophomore forward Jerami Grant anchors the Orange down low and should be apart of a great battle with Indiana freshman forward Noah Vonleh. Freshman guard Tyler Ennis runs the offense for Syracuse, and had a coming out party in Maui. Once again, Indiana should dominate the boards, as Syracuse ranks 175th in the nation in rebound. The Hoosiers grab 14 more rebounds per game than the Orange. Syracuse ranks 129th in points per game, and 166th in assists per game. Neither squad shoots the ball particularly well. Indiana is ranked 112th in nation in field goal percentage, compared to 157th ranked Syracuse. In the battle of the KenPom rankings, Indiana holds an edge in adjusted defense: 10th compared to 37th. On the other hand, Syracuse is ranked seventh in adjusted offense, while Indiana is 90th. The Orange are currently 13th overall in the KenPom rankings, while the Hoosiers are 29th. (kenpom.com) Score Prediction: Indiana is not expected to win, and I can give no good reason why they will. While many are expecting a somewhat lopsided Syracuse victory, Syracuse fans have told me they’re expecting a close game. Few will predict an IU win, but I will. Gut feeling. Indiana 71, Syracuse 65

We should've beaten Navy, and that should've been an easy win. I don't see why Indiana couldn't have won at least seven, maybe eight games this year. The season was very disappointing (understatement), and there's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't have gone bowling when we had EIGHT home games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Nate Sudfeld leaving IU?

I really don't think it's a good thing if you're only one play from starting. We need one quarterback to separate himself from the others. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Two quarterbacks mean no quarterbacks. Maybe it wouldn't be the worst if Sudfeld left. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
I believe he's led the Cornhuskers to six straight nine win seasons or something like that. Most programs would love that, and Nebraska fans need to realize Nebraska isn't an elite program anymore. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
