New Uniforms
Does anyone have any actual evidence that recruits don't like our uniforms and would like us to at least have an alternate? Anyone? Why don't we just get rid of the candy stripes to? Maybe we can put names on the back of these uniforms? Oh, and we could retire numbers? Mike Davis would laugh because new uniforms and all the other things were stuff that he wanted. Then, he never did get that It's Indiana.
I don't think anyone's saying that. The players today get excited over these new or crazy uniforms Nike and Adidas come out with, so I don't think it would be a big deal to have an alternate for special games. If Indiana can do anything to add some excitement with recruits, might as well do it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I really don't think it'd be a big deal to have a special uniform every now and then. The kids like it.

    Scouting a potential Crean replacement
I'm just tired of the "look what we lost" excuse to try and exonerate Crean when we're in the cellar because he can't/won't adapt. I find it funny that the argument gets twisted. We struggle and people say "we lost two top 4 picks", but say "Crean couldn't get past the Sweet 16 with 2 top 4 picks" and it's countered with Cody not being projected that high. Well, it can't be both ways, if you try to diminish the argument when it's a criticism you're also diminishing you're own argument because it means we lost less. Same thing with the 4 1000 points scorers.
I don't like that argument either, especially that "two top four picks" (we all know my thoughts on Cody Zeller). Tom Crean isn't the first coach to lose a lot of talent, leadership, etc. I lean towards the side of his supporters, but I've rarely, if ever, used the "we lost a lot" argument. I just don't really care for it. He hasn't adapted, making stubbornness a key problem. His team is full of athletic slashers, yet he has them stand around.
I think your undervaluing the talent we actually had. IMO, sick talent is having 2 top 4 picks and 4 1000 point scorers on the same team not including 5 with Sheehey and 6 with Yogi. When do you think we will ever replicate that? Now if your saying sick meaning Wilt, Kobe, Pistol and Jordan; then I would agree.
We'll just disagree on last year's team. It was good, but not sick talented IMO. Scouting a potential Crean replacement
You have to identify the best possible candidates and he would be at the top of my list. In fact I have listed at least 3 and I don't remember you having any. Its so much easier to deny and deflect that this is a relevant discussion for Indiana fans and alumni than to contribute actual thought. Keep cheerleading though, because after Noah leaves thisyear both you and Crean can act just as surprised as our pathetic performance this year.
Sure, he may be a top possible candidate, but he will not be at Indiana anytime soon. Just move on from him. I wasn't aware I was supposed to compile a list. I'll get right on that, boss. Sean Miller, Gregg Marshall, Chris Collins. Happy? Bring Back Sheehey of Old?

I've never been real high on Sheehey. He was a sixth man for a reason. He has too many limitations to be a main key to a team. I think we're all pretty disappointed in him this year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
2 players on the same team being drafted in the top 4 picks is not sick talent? Please give me your definition of what would be better? Then give me an example of two players being drafted that high that lost in the sweet 16? The only asterisk that should be noted would be the most underperforming team in the NCAA's tournament history. I'm sorry but your in denial of the talent just like Crean saying he never thought of losing Cody and Vic last year. I bet you think we can still make the dance this year too.
You think guys like Hulls, Watford, and Sheehey had sick talent? Cody was good, but he wasn't sick talented. There's a reason he was projected late lottery in one of the weakest drafts in a long time. Cody Zeller had no business whatsoever sniffing the fourth pick. He wasn't sick talented, but rather lucky that Jordan is bad at drafting and reached. You're overhyping last year's talent to boost your argument against Crean. You're only kidding yourself if you thought those players, other than Vic, were actually sick talented. That doesn't mean the team didn't live up to expectations, and we shouldn't be disappointed. It just means that team didn't have "sick talent" outside of one player. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
5 now that Sheeey is number 47 at IU and will have had 6 on the same team when Yogi joins the club. Just sick talent was on last years team and the only nets they cut down were in defeat at home to Ohio State. What more can you say except 2 were top 4 draft choices. What really gets me is we have many fans who were satisfied with our results last year when the chances of us ever fielding a team this talented and deep at IU will probably never happen again. Now I'm sick.
Sick talent? Besides Oladipo, I wouldn't call them "sick talent." They were good and played well together, but let's not get carried away. And I feel like there should be an asterisk next to "two top four picks." Cody had no business going that high. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    Scouting a potential Crean replacement
This year isn't the year to get Stevens but maybe after year two. The constant travelling and 4x games compared to college combined with not getting to watch his kids grow up may convince him to want to get back into the college ranks. Plus, moving his wife out of her comfort zone where friends and family are a long way away may prove to be the turning point. You also have to look at coaches who have not been successful in the pros but come back into college to find they haven't lost much. In football you have Spurrier here in SC plus Saban in AL. Pitino and Calipari are the obvious ones in basketball and also Larry Brown. Waiting an additional year also gives you time to evaluate the coaches you have zeroed in on now to see how they elevate or sustain the success. I don't believe Crean will be successful next year without Noah, but giving him another year will quiet the lone remaining fans who think he's the one.
Indiana will not get Brad Stevens anytime soon. Time to move on from that dream. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I think the boosters would get behind him, and that should play a role. But, uh, I just don't see it working out at all if he were ever hired here
Many on twitter have told me the only reason they want Alford is that he played at Indiana, which somehow magically makes him an amazing coach I guess. But the only guy who has that Indiana tie that I would be happy about would be Dane Fife. To me it seems like a number of people want Alford, and I really just don't see that working out at all, I think that is just asking for everything to go wrong. I haven't ever been impressed by Steve as a coach, and I just don't think it would work out
I wouldn't mind Crews. No one would want Steve Alford if he hadn't played at Indiana.
The talent is there though, it's just not polished. Developing a player doesn't mean you make them more talented, it means you polished the talent that was already there. That's what happened with Vic, he didn't magically become more talented the talent he possessed became more polished. The talent has to be there or there's nothing to work with and thus nothing to develop.
There's a lot of polishing to do. Right now, the entire team is all potential and athleticism.
