Drake introduces Calapari at pUKe's midnight madness
lelgar4 posted a topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24756927/drake-introduces-john-calipari-at-kentucky-midnight-madness stumbled upon this this morning. as if Calipari didn't already have an incredibly unfair recruiting advantage, he got Drake, a rapper (and possibly the biggest bandwagon fan of all time) for the members that don't keep up with pop culture, to introduce him at midnight madness. Given that the majority of my generation likes his music, I'd say that approximately 100% of the recruits in attendance are probably leaning towards UK now, if they weren't already. Yes, I know that having a rapper introduce your potential future coach shouldn't be a big factor in deciding where you attend college and play collegiate basketball. But if I were a high school prospect (and didn't despise UK with all of my heart) I'd be pretty **** impressed. Just saying. Edit: For those wondering why I'm up at 6am on a saturday, a game day, to post this, one word: midterm -
Drake introduces Calapari at pUKe's midnight madness

I once saw a tweet that had these exact 4 pictures and said something along the lines of "Drake looks like the proudest basketball girlfriend of 2014." I laughed. -

the sad thing is, if that did happen, UK fans would legitimately cheer for it. -

Jim Irsay arrested for OWI/Possession
lelgar4 replied to ccgeneral's topic in National Football League
oh I thought they just found a bunch of prescription meds in his car, I didn't know he was actually on them. just read an article saying there was no alcohol involved, just a ton of oxycontin. equally disappointing, if not more honestly. but I agree, completely pathetic. -

Wow. I didn't really read into this when it came out so idk what his BAC was but he must've been extremely drunk if he couldn't recite letters c through n. Then again I practice it nearly every time I drink just in case we get stopped by IUPD walking back from parties/frats lol. Regardless of how much he drank though, disappointing that such a prominent sports figure would even consider driving in that condition. -
Should we really care about players being "Creaned"?
lelgar4 replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was talking about Priller and April, should've been more specific there. Essentially I think that Crean is giving them an opportunity to make themselves better players and either a ) develop well enough to earn a spot on the team, or b ) get better opportunities as transfers as opposed to the offers they had in high school. I believe April's only other offer was some school called Word Incarnate or something like that. Perhaps Crean saw more potential in April, either potential to play for IU or just enough that he deserved to play somewhere better than the school that offered him, and gave him a scholarship. Its kind of like a trial scholarship for these players. But thats just how I see it. -

I think "Creaning" is a good thing. Use extra scholarships on less talented players, give them a year or two to develop at a great program and then move on to a program thats more suitable for their skill level. And if they prove to be worth the scholarship and develop well, keep 'em, i.e. Oladipo. Plus they now have the option to stay at IU on academic scholarship if they decide they would rather stay and get a better education than continue elsewhere. Really, whether or not a player gets "creaned" is up to them. If they work hard, in and out of practice, and develop - they'll get to stay. -
The thought of this team gives me chills. If we retain those 8 players, get OG, Morgan, Bryant and Lyle/Vick/Shake I wouldn't be satisfied with anything less than a 'ship and a banner.

(2015) SG Shake Milton to SMU
lelgar4 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I really won't be disappointed if we don't get Shake. I want OG and LeGerald Vick much more. I mean imagine all the oops that could be thrown to those two. -

Catching up with Hanner Mosquera-Perea
lelgar4 replied to lelgar4's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've always liked Hanner and have always wanted him to become a solid, contributing role player. Hopefully its this year! It sounds like he has been working really hard this offseason but we won't know for sure until we're a couple games into the season. I think HMP AND DD are keys to having a successful season. If they can hold the post down and get some boards our incredible backcourt should be able to do the rest. -

Pick Your All Time IU Dream Team
lelgar4 replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Assuming this is a collegiate level line up, I'd pick: Thomas Gordon Oladipo Benson Bellamy But if we were making a professional/NBA lineup I would drop EG, move Dipo to the 2, and put McGinnis at the 3. Though Zeller would probably be an all around better fit than Benson for today's pace and style, I had to go with my boy Kent since we have the same birthday. EDIT: same birthdate, not year. He's probably got about 40 years on me. -
NCAA BBall Prediction/Seed/Round of Advancement
lelgar4 replied to rebelhoosier848891's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree with rebel, I think this team is a lot better than everyone thinks. Our guard play will be great, and I think that HMP, DD, TW and Holt will make for a solid front court. And by solid I mean able to make stops and defend the post against most teams. With the length and athleticism we have (not necessarily height, as none of the aforementioned players are over 6'9", but bigs with large wingspans and hops that will ideally bring the swat squad to AH -- HMP and Holt especially) that doesn't seem like a far-fetched possibility imo. Obviously teams with traditional, large, back to the basket centers will be tougher for us to guard (i.e Hammons-- I think he'll go to town on us this year, but we'll still come away with the W) but if Crean utilizes our guard depth to press hard and force turnovers I believe that will compensate for the buckets we may allow down low. I REALLY want to see this team use full court presses often. Like all the time. Or at least a lot. Anyway, I project that we'll be in the 6-10 seed range. 10 if we have a decent season thats improved over last years -- 6 if we totally sucker punch the whole B1G and come in 2nd-4th in B1G (1st isn't probable b/c Wisky is gonna run the tables this year.) No matter the seed though, I don't see this team getting past the sweet 16, not enough tourney experience nor real maturity. However a deeper run could be possible next season if we keep all our big pieces, and make a decent run this year. -
first Yogi broke a pair of ankles and now he's throwing passes behind his head. really wish I could be watching this game right now.

Not sure about these highlights, looks like he's playing against my middle school B team. But I'd still feel considerably better about this season if we got him. Kid's a bully in the paint, looks like he could handle the Big 10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQFaKo4T-l4 -
