OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season
lelgar4 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
When I saw that article where his Dad was talking about the announcement I figured it had to do with his foundation but couldn't remember the name. Kinda thought the same about Troy when Boo came down to see him before his announcement. Kinda like silent publicity, don't blame them for doing it at all but damn is it frustrating having to wait lol. -
OFFICIAL: Ferrell returns for Senior Season

My thoughts exactly. There's clearly something about this situation none of us know, and I think this is it. Like you said, why else would a projected 2nd rounder hold such a big event for his declaration? Also, if he was going, I'm almost certain Crean would either know or have a strong sense of it and would (hopefully) be recruiting a solid '15 pg more so than he is now. -
Pretty sure he's more of a 4/3 than a 5, despite his size. Compared to KG and KD a lot. I think most realize he's a veryraw talent - he's only played bball for like 5 years, but overrated? Nah, kid could change a program like IU.

This thread/specific post is what I was referring to in my post. Can't believe they actually think they had the most difficult road to the FF. I'd take Cincy, a WV blowout and ND over Wisco's Wichita, UNC, and Arizona 11 times out of 10.
-
lol some of them actually believe the NCAA is out to get them. Could not be any more wrong.
-
Just saw on B/R that there's new info on Thon and IU/UK at the Peegs Prem. site, anyone care to fill me in?
-
forgot about OG and Morgan.
-
I'd without a doubt take frosh Rojo/JBJ over Abel/AE/anyone that has transferred out of the program recently. Hell, I'd take Priller/April over Hollowell/Jurkin. Of all the players that have been "creaned" recently, can you honestly say we'd be any better with them? Remy was a decent player, AE was too timid to shoot, Hollowell was one of the worst players I've seen wear an IU jersey, and Jurkin doesn't need an explanation. Idk if I'm missing any but really all I would take is Remy over Stan right now - which wouldn't solve our primary roster issue, the post.

Love the highlights at the end of this article. His on-court demeanor reminds me of Sheehey or Montrezl Harrell; exciting, celebrating/yelling in the face of his opponents, etc. -- the type of guy I've been saying this year's team has been missing.

Not sure if this has been posted or not but there's some interesting stuff in here. http://www.btpowerhouse.com/2015/3/11/8188225/does-indiana-lead-for-2015-4-star-center-thomas-bryant One thing that really stuck out was this quote from Yogi's dad, "Look, he ultimately wants to do great things for his school. He may be leaning toward coming back. There are a few factors. Getting a big man to play with may be one of those." Didn't really think Yogi leaving this year was a possibility until now.

Check my second post on the first page. I basically said the same thing. I think we have to keep him (or put up with) until we are in a guaranteed position with a better coach. Again, I am not a Crean fan or supporter, but he's the best thats realistically available. For now. By "let him prove himself," I really meant give him next year bc we likely aren't going to find anyone worthwhile to replace him this offseason. Not defending him, just posting what I think is the most logical thing to do, in regard to keeping the program from crashing and burning again.
-
Lol. That's pretty presumptious. And a pretty stupid assumption considering you know nothing about me, nor what I fear. I'm not scared of change at all, in fact I look forward to a coaching change. If its a better coach. I'm scared of ending up in a worse position than we were in when Crean got here, with a worse coach. I'm scared of ending up stuck in this cycle. Don't assume because I'm not trying to assemble a mob outside Crean's door that I like him as a coach, I do not. I repeat, I do NOT like having Crean as our HC. But we could be doing a lot worse. We could also do a lot better, no doubt. We are not in the abyss right now, record & RPI wise, this is Crean's 3rd or 4th best season (12-13, 11-12, then this season).
-
I would agree with you 100% if there was a better coach we had any chance of getting by next year (forgot to mention that in initial post). Crean is realistically the best coach available. Stevens sure as hell isnt coming to IU, same with Marshall. Donovan, Smart, and anyone else I have seen mentioned (doesn't mean all, just what I have seen) are long shots at best. We lose Crean, we likely fall back into the CBB abyss, good players would likely transfer, and we're back to where we were when Crean got here, square 1. I believe it would be best for the program to continue under Crean until a better candidate is absolutely guaranteed. At least better than repeating this whole process under a different, and likely worse coach.

Although I wouldnt have admitted this immediately after the Iowa loss, I agree - to an extent. We were projected to end up 10th or lower in B1G, and to win half the number of games we won. Compared to that, Crean has done a great job this season. The lack of bigs isn't necessarily his fault, as I'm assuming that there were VERY slim pickings left after Vonleh left last year (likely the reason why Priller and April were offered), with exception of Holt whom I think fans will realize was a steal, as he develops. We return Yogi, JBJ, Troy, Rojo and the rest of the core, drop the dead weight (*cough* Stan *cough*), and get Thon and/or Bryant (Yes, I know getting either is a stretch, let alone both - let me dream) and were a top 10 team next year. We get a decent, defensive big and develop April, were still solid. Point is, let Crean have next year to prove himself. Seriously doubt theres any chance he's gone next year or year after unless something absolutely crazy happens. I love the fanbase and all its insanity/passion, but we gotta chill out.

You sound like a fairweather fan already imo. PS, thread topic is NW postgame, not "Who would IU have to hire to prevent fairweather fans from revoking their fandom." Just fyi.
-
Oregon giving the #9 Utes a run for their money right now. 39-34 Ducks, 16 mins left in the 2nd.
-
does this mean he wont go overseas for a year? and do we have a chance at getting him? REALLY want this kid.

https://vine.co/v/OQh5u5QhThV/embed I didnt watch the game, so I dont know if Harrell and the other guy had been getting into it prior to this. Definitely looks malicious though.

Turnovers were BAD, officiating was TERRIBLE. Had GA this game and I was honestly close to leaving after that no call where Troy fell. Lost my voice screaming at the refs. All in all, good win, great rebounding effort, and even better shooting. Defense had its ups and downs so I'm gonna chalk that up as improvement. Also, playing the Wat Shot and giving C-Wat a standing ovation was the highlight of the night. Miss having that guy on our team.
-
I agree, but any slight resemblance of sympathy died for me when they smacked us up there. That game got them back to 2nd in my most hated CBB teams list. The nerds up North can have engineering. [attachment=1572:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1422237030.813701.jpg]

No sympathy. None. Not after last year. [attachment=1571:ImageUploadedByBtownBanners1422236230.167930.jpg]

Wow this is actually a pretty interesting lineup. I really hope Vic wins but Antetokounmpo and LaVine will definitely give him a run for his money. Not sure about Plumee, never seen anything from him. I bet Vic gives us another 360, he's practically patented it. Anyone know if the dunk contest will be televised? I've never watched anything but the all star game live.

Indiana vs New Orleans Game Thread

Can verify this. Got 1-month, IU-only subscirption. Shoddy quality at best, lags a little, and freezes on occassion, probably about 6 times through the first half. Not worth $10/mo. Plus the BTN commentators are pretty bad too. -
Indiana vs New Orleans Game Thread

Chronic Hoosier usually posts a link to a live stream prior to every game. Also, for those in Btown, Yogi's and KOK will both be playing the games. I'd assume Bdubs, Buffa's, and many more will too. -
Not sure if this is a well known thing or not, but I thought it'd be great to share. http://www.iuhoosiers.com/collegesportslive/ Here you can watch highlights and pressers from old IUBB and IUFB games for free, and, with a paid subscription of course, you can even watch full games. I'm not sure how many seasons back the site goes, but it does have every IUBB game, and its highlights/pressers, from the 2012-13 season.
