This is what the Iowa State 247 board has been talking about in regards to if Otz is truly interested in the IU job. and as RTZ mentioned IU job talks generates high views / interest so the national media loves it. Any agent worth a damn is gonna use this to get there guy what he wants in terms of NIL / Contract desires. Have Goodman and any other national guys float is name out to strong arm the ADs. If they call your bluff? Then ok maybe he does come to Bloomington if he don't already have the guy. Same deal with McCollum , maybe floating his name forces the hand of the AD at Iowa to move on from Fran at the risk of losing a good in state coach? Maybe maybe not .

You know Mark Titus talked about it on his show yesterday with WBR (White Boy Rick)IU fan. It is kind of interesting to hear more outsider perspective but also a guy who understands IU basketball and Titus fits the description perfectly being raised in Brownsburg. talked about the difference of the Woodson era on a Macro vs micro level really interesting stuff

FWIW I went over to Iowa State 247 site and a whole lot of nothing not even a mention of a rumor or statement saying they are working on a contract extension. There Coaching Search thread (started because he's a hot potentially candidate) has a number of posters arguing about if he's would consider IU . Most think he would because of our NIL , one way tried to say he didn't believe our NIL was even top 50 in the country LOL . There Rabjohns said IU is without a doubt top spender in the Big Ten using about 5 mil in NIL , but doesn't think TJ would leave ISU for IU.

You know for all the talk of the lack of consistency IU basketball has had the last decade. We are well on our way to our 27th consecutive Big Ten Tournament berth . really what more can we as fans ask for ? Just saying fellas

Eric was throwing a little hissy fit about Mgbako the other night after the Purdue game basically saying he hopes the new coach kicks him to the curb and saying hes bad for the program both on and off the court. And they aren't re-upping his deal and he was getting blasted for it LOL was a little cringe for my taste I get they get paid but still a 19 year old kid who is gonna have ups and downs playing college hoops thats just my opinion.

I’m not really saying in terms of style or coaching or personality . But just a reminder he’s the mid major flavor of the year . And D2 / mid major success in NO WAY indicates high major success it’s a totally different beast in every way. Too many examples to cite but we experienced it first hand with Archie . Porter Moser and his luck success at Oklahoma is another example

Glad to see the McCollum crowd die off a bit particularly with the Otz smoke . Posting this Incase Drake makes a run in March (however they might not even get there if they don’t win the Arch Madness a lot of pressure think Ind State last year ) . This is why Dolson is doing what he’s doing in hiring his sitting P4 coach (or our unicorn) . Might end of being a solid hire . Might get his shot at Iowa or ISU in the near future but just can’t take the risk.

I just threw up in my mouth . Man something about the idea of hiring him screams everything that has been wrong with IU basketball and it’s lacking of consistency the last decade. Do I think in 6 years he’d have 1 or 2 good teams ? Yes but idk if I could take the other down ones . I will say the idea of Collins is growing on me , I do think he’d do really well with IUs resources and commitment to Hoops . Would LOVE Drew or Otz (which seems to have a little smoke) seems SD is sticking to his guns in hiring a P4 guy thats demonstrated success ! Cabin fever will be at its peak both today and tomorrow (at least we have the game as a distraction for better or worse!) im guessing Thursday or Friday will be big days . Most likely will get something from the Insiders as Saturday and Sunday get closer . Either them pumping up the announcement , or they are now “delaying the announcement” due to IUs recent success and possible tournament berth , or will tell us the “reasoning of how it has now fallen apart” and IU is moving on .
