Because he would retire? I know the things i say aren't the most complicated but you all make it seem like rocket science. You are taking coaches ages in a vacuum acting like the basketball program and football program are in the same status. Iu football was never relevant. Basketball used to be and needs to get back. having a coach retire in another 4-5 years would be terrible.

Taking those points in a vacuum is nuts lol. with football there was only upside. worst power 5 program ever. Little expectations. so 60 year old coming in works to give the program any relevance ever basketball the expectations are so high. Mcdermott is a good coach but this program cant have another coaching search in 4-5 years again.

If iu is in ncaa tourney there would be no announcement until iu is eliminated. Them playing in any tourney below it? no clue. thats regardless of who the coach is, assuming said coach isnt coaching in ncaa tourney

Lot of people campaigning for wade past couple of days. Some important people some meaningless people. While I would love for him to be considered post everyone’s #1 option, unfortunate reality is will is not being considered. Would be shocked to see that change but suppose anything is possible.
