I think so. Dusty waiting to extend puts pressure on Michigan to pony up, makes them sweat and probably ends with dusty getting more money. If Scott really thought it would get to dusty, he wouldn't have announced Woodson's retirement until end of season to prevent Michigan from pushing for an extension, IMO

Timing of a lot of things. First the announcement that Woodson would not return on the same day of the nba trade deadline. Announcing the position would be open makes other schools who could positionally worry about losing their coach, start to talk contract extension. Which leads me to believe that Scott knew that wouldn't be an issue because he's in the NBA. With the Celtics being sold if brad was ever going to leave (excluding retirement) it would be now. There are some other minor details but the timing has me really interested.

Michigan is going to say they are working on an extension for may to keep chatter down more to keep the noise silent for the players. May has already told Michigan that he isn't interested in contract talk until season end, could that change? sure, but right now nothing is in the works for may contract wise.
