Such a pain to figure out (which games are considered exempt always seemed to be the argument for real number of games played) - I remember all the info surrounding if X would get his extra year (he played 11? 10.5 I think but it rounds up) - I remember being surprised by how much this actually happens in college football and how often they rubber stamp it. Hopefully it works out,
-
Absolutely - I'm just saying IF those 4 stuck around (plus Goode) - I wouldn't be mad. With the right coach I'd love to see them all grow - I don't blame any of them for this year. Immaturity and focus can be tempered by the right structure and coach imho. I would say CW stubbornness in his system and his lack of 'coaching' college kids have done his talent little good.
-
Where does the blame lie? Has anyone really tried anything but the hands off let him 'learn on the court' buddy 'grandpa' motivation? The talent is there - plus the sheer physical gifts - I'd love someone to get through to that young man.
-
Honestly I don't hate that group under the right coach - you'd need to be disciplined and get Carlyle be your defensive stopper (he's got the speed) plus if you can keep Goode (may get a year back - only played 10 games) and get Mgbako head right (last 5 games have been better) especially defensively then you've got a real solid core. Obviously you'd need to bring in a stud or 2. Compare that starting lineup to Drakes or even Northwestern - how many games does Collins win with that group?
-
Only thing I've heard is 'don't expect to hear anything' but as I've said my contacts are not as connected as some here.
-
So SD pull an 8 mile rap like M did in the final battle? I like it.
-
Weird - just changed mine to DJ - no issues. Are you sure you resized the canvas? Otherwise it may retain white space that takes size. Back-to-topic: I'll submit to any baptism if we start winning games.
-
Find a picture u like then shrink it (resize in paint) to like 100 pixels by 100 pixels - or smaller if necessary) then upload - should be around 100k

Every coach knows every reason I just listed - plus a ton more I won't list cause they are rumors solid rumors but rumors - Coach Crean has all but said he would jump back at the job and he lived it more harshly then CW (Heck I may give another shot before Turgeon - I'd like to see Crean with a NiL budget - his teams were often fun to watch unlike Woodson). They absolutely know he made his own bed and what got him in this situation - better then most of us imho. Most Coaches won't come here cause they are happy where they are or don't want to be in a fishbowl - but honestly that eliminates just a few of the ones that were long shots anyway. I'm not buying the Turgeon or Groche as our best shot - long time till the end of the season and SD put out feelers before making this decision. I absolutely believe that - heard it from too many places.
-
C'mon - you know that's a very small part of the reason. Missing one tourney in 4 years would keep most coaches in place. It's not his losses that killed him - it's how he got some of them (too many) and how very ill prepared we looked when we did. The UofL and Gonzaga losses killed most of us - we had high hopes and really wanted to give CW one more chance - he won the offseason and we were pumped. But in those game we just looked like a mid major playing in the big leagues. Embarrassing. We win a couple games (against much lower talent) then we run into a 'meh' Nebraska team and lose by almost 20. And it wasn't close - embarrassing again. We go on a bit of a roll - win some good ones - Rutgers was a decent win. Then we proceed to go 2-10 starting with a 20 point loss @ a bad Iowa team and 20 pt loss against a decent Illinois team at home - exposed and very ugly. A couple of those losses were very obviously Coaching mess ups in the last plays - embarrassing mess ups - like announcers being mystified on our own network kinda mess ups. While most of us aren't Coaches but a lot of us have been watching basketball for most of our lives - we recognize when there aren't any adjustments of note - that we try to do the same things with the same results and put our selves one more in the loss column game after game. This coaching search I just want a decent X and Os guys who put a product on the floor I can be proud of - that fights and executes an identifiable game plan with consistency. If Crean didn't have such dramatic down years I would have been okay with him - I screamed and yelled every game in the stands his first 3 years cause I loved what those kids were trying to do and how much heart they put into it. While we may not be the most realistic fans - we aren't stupid - I go to games in different stadiums/arenas - you can hear the difference between a knowledgeable fan base and one who is not i.e. if the fans are knowledgeable listen for when they boo calls - different then average fans imho. Sorry I know I went off a bit - I'll bring it back on track - who do I want as coach? A solid human being with decent work ethic that realizes the advantages and disadvantages of a place like IU - plus with the TP I do expect to win by year 2. With our resources I don't think that's impossible.
-
I think Juwuan forgot one step - 10 years ago start Chris007 - go thru one coach search laying the foundation of Brad for the next... Diabolical... well played sir.
-
But not coming back. Granted most come back after failure and not success but arguably the best coach in college basketball spent time in the pros. College to pros then back to college has a very strong success rate. (Sorry didn't see see your answer moyemayhem)

100% - Still can't believe our best finish possible is .500.
-
My son went to every Zeller family camp he could. I'll just say this - I would LOVE to have any of the Zellers working withthe program - they don't get much better the the Zellers imho. Work ethic alone is off the charts - there won't be sitting around the 19th hole drinking wine and smoking cigars when there's work to be done.
-
Man when Frans offense isn't offensing Iowa is super hard to watch. After watching them multiple times this year I get why we may have some competition with the Iowa coaches.
-
I get that and I don't love his avg OffRtg and DefRtg but I do think Clemson has a much better NiL and just program money/budget - 99% because of football support. Forbes for me is a +6th pick but still above Brownell. We failed on a lot to get here imho. Guess I'm saying between Brownell vs Forbes - Forbes has done more with less.
-
If we are going to discuss ACC coaches - personally I'd take Forbes over Brownell - older but I do think the roof is higher with him. Plus he was known as a really good recruiter plus when he was an asst each school seemed to be very successful - Head coach records: Coaching Record Season School Conf G W L W-L% SRS SOS AP Pre AP High AP Final Notes Adjusted Career Overall 326 220 106 .675 7.03 2.05 East Tennessee State Men's 173 130 43 .751 4.48 -2.42 Wake Forest Men's 153 90 63 .588 9.59 6.52 2015-16 East Tennessee State Southern 36 24 12 .667 -1.49 -2.29 2016-17 East Tennessee State Southern 35 27 8 .771 7.31 -2.11 Reg. Best answer yet. In all essence the realistic top 10 to 15 remain Schrödinger's cat - each candidate is our next coach and isn't - yes there's obviously different levels of probability but honestly at this stage and the 'close mouthed' nature of the search I'd say the probability amplitude depth has so many variables that we are discussing just realistically the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate then really doing much in the way of eliminating possibilities. Either way I enjoy it - but am very skeptical of any 100% claims either way.

He may have an argument with this staff. Not trying to be a smart @$$ but obviously the talent is there just maybe not the respect thus the attitude? While at MV (if I remember correctly) he was a pitbull when needed - remember he got 16pts 12 rebs in championship game. Woodson's defense (imho) puts insane stress/expectations on a line up not built for it (Nail/Slot/Rim switches) - he needs 6'5 to 6'8 with the footspeed of a guard i.e. a NBA lineup - and his offense doesn't put players to their strength, it puts players in a structure (leaning towards iso) which again lends it's self to a NBA lineup. When you see what shots we gets vs what Analytics say are the best shots it really is an obvious weird lineup. End of last year I saw a really good break down of how many mid range shots we took versus 3s and at-the-rim - it was a great read and I wish I could find it - suffix it to say it damning. Honestly I hope what ever coach comes in just evaluates these kids individually to see if they fit - regardless of the numbers from this year.
-
Look Mrs. Turgeon, I'm sure your son is a lovely young man and is the best of boys but I unfortunately think we are going to pass. The rest of you need to be nice to your elders.
-
Can someone please just when they announce the coach - post it - hack into the time/space continuum - backdate the post to now (or right when we announced the retirement) and let us know who it is? If I have to do this for another 3 or 4 weeks my head may explode.
-
I still wouldn't be surprised to see Turgeon on UNC staff in some capacity next season - he's been to a couple of UNC games, close with Davis and Roy Williams and I think there's going to be a lot of shakeup on UNC staff. Maybe asst to new GM?
-
So let's say our someone (anyone) says yes before we are finished playing (or has) - what's the pros and cons of when we announce? - my 2 cents: 1) As soon as they sign even if we are playing still. Anytime from now to end of NCAAT. - ~1% chance. My thought is this is highly unlikely while we are playing. No need to undercut team. Then why even 1% chance? I say 1% cause I feel like this is something that would happen if CW goes off the rails and walks or team issues that aren't easy to ignore. No information - just justification for 1% vs 0%. 2) As soon as IU is finished playing (or the next day). i.e. BTT lose or NCAA loss - if we get in. - ~30% chance. I'm mixed on this - why announce right after a downer? But why not announce as soon as possible? 3) A couple days after/right before a big tourney weekend. i.e. we lose on a Saturday - season over - wait till following Thursday so it hits a lot press during Tourney weekend. - ~25% chance - Time it for impact but let team/coaches do last of season press so they aren't asked their opinion repeatedly. No reason for them to have to address this and little advantage to announcing right after a loss. 4) Weekend before march 24 (portal opens) - so Mar 22/23. - ~20% chance. Lotsa good press since that will be a weekend with a lot of eyes on cbb and high impact would make the talk of a lot of halftimes. That can only help recruiting. 5) As soon as our new Coach is ready to announce - may be playing? - ~20% Speaks for it's self - new coach let them have some control of message and date/time of announcement. 6) Forced into it - meaning timeline is pushed up. - ~4% Comes out early and the AD wants to control the spin so they announce as soon as the leak goes out. Thoughts?

Ha! My mom loved the malware filled free games. I would try to bring the the boys to see her every time I could and every time I walked through the door I spent the next 2 hours removing malware and virus from her 'it's just running real slow' laptop (state of the art when clean) while she played with the boys. Miss those days everyday.
