  1. I must have missed something. I thought the original post was a fan. Do we know it was a kid?
  2. The problem was the fan didn't use the sandwich approach. He needed to finish the conversation with another positive. "Mike, I really enjoyed watching you as a player. You were awesome! I'm not a fan of your coaching and think you suck as a coach and you need to retire to save the program. You do have a great style and fashion sense. I love those kicks!"
  3. This makes me speculate that Woodson's wife was in town from Atlanta and he wasn't planning on recruiting, but he was told he needs to get his a$$ out there and recruit the state.
  4. There's a good chance that a lot of our future portal players will be playing for the money in their checking accounts and not the name on the front of the jersey. That's the new reality of college basketball for many schools. It upsets me that this is the path we have chosen, and Purdue still get kids that simply want to play for Purdue.

I saw an article where Coach K is advocating the ban of court storming. They now refer to Filipowski's so-called injury as an injury scare. Filipowski was run into by a student which shouldn't have happened. But Filipowski, like all Duke whiners, made a bigger deal out of it than it was. It went from injury to minor injury to slight injury to now, injury scare. We have to take away students fun because Duke lost and Filipowski whined.
  6. Raise last summer Woodson stating he's not going anywhere Chris saying as of now, the plan is for Woodson to return Field of 68 stating no plan to replace Woodson Those 4 make it easy for a pessimist to assume the worst.
  7. We can agree to disagree. I hope you are correct, but I think the decision to give Woodson a 4th year having been made already is certainly a possibility.
  8. Do you work in the athletic department? Are you privy to the meeting with the President and Board? We can hope all we want that coach Woodson could be replaced at the end of the season, but there are those that believe that Woodson is getting at least a 4th year. That could be why coach Woodson made the comment that he's not going anywhere. Maybe he's already been told he's back regardless. For you to state the decision hasn't been made is an opinion which I hope is true. But, to act as if the decision may not have already been made is well... silly.
  9. If the decision to give Woodson a 4th season has already been made, then I think it's fair to judge Dolson now. If it is just Admin speak, then yes it would make sense to see what happens at the end of the season.
  10. I'm not sure I have faith in Dolson. I'm starting to think that emails need to be going to President Whitten complaining about the mismanagement of the basketball program by Scott Dolson.
  11. There are only two reasons not to push coach Woodson into retirement- money and your targeted coach isn't available. The money issue should be the easiest to resolve. Woodson has been bad enough that I would think one or two of the big boosters would be willing to help make it happen. If your targeted coach has a reasonable buyout, you must move fast before someone else does. To hold onto a mediocre college coach 1 more year out of "fairness" and then miss out on really good coach would be a sign you have an inept Athletic Director.
  12. IU 67 MD 63 IU is better inside and MD can't shoot threes. A good combination for IU.
  13. Thinking about IU basketball, Mike Woodson, and Scott Dolson today made me think of one of my favorite NewsRadio episodes. One of the broadcasters, Bill McNeal, was called adequate in an article. He kept trying to act like adequate was a compliment, while others tried to explain it was not. Mike Woodson's results his first 2 years were adequate, not good, not great, and definitely not outstanding. Inexplicably, IU gave him a raise and another year on his contract. Has the administration's goal for the basketball program been set so low that adequate in the first 2 years and below adequate in year 3 automatically gets a coach a 4th year? Will we be happy with adequate again in year 4? The thought sickens me that something I once enjoyed immensely is in the hands of caretakers that are fine with adequate.
  14. Bruce wouldn't be my first choice because of his past violations. However, those were a few years ago and I'm all for 2nd chances (or 4th or 5th). At this point, if Bruce is the only other possibility, then sign me up.
  15. If Woodson is brought back, it's going to be ugly. I won't be just calling for Woodson's head, but Dolson's as well. Imo, Dolson's job should be on the line if he chooses to bring Woodson back. Chris- get that resume updated. :)
  16. Hey, let's not badmouth Kent Benson. Word is that he enjoys watching Matt Painter and Purdue basketball, so he seems to have a clue as to what good college basketball is.
  17. Based on his statement a week ago, I don't think coach Woodson wants to step down or retire. Woodson really thinks that he's a good coach and that he's not the problem. Imo, Woodson thinks it's just a talent issue. If he just had 5 future NBA players, he could be successful. I think if he wins 2 of his remaining 4, Woodson is probably a lock to return. Win just 1 of 3 it's borderline. Lose out and the administration will probably have to convince him to retire gracefully.
  18. We're trying to will it into reality.
  19. I would be shocked if it would be announced as Woodson being fired. I would think it would be announced as a retirement (where Woodson gets all of his money) or that for health reasons coach Woodson would be moving into some other non-coaching role. If Woodson is willing to one of those scenarios, I would think it could be announced prior to the end of the season.
  20. Just wondering if word has made it back to coach Woodson that these kids and their families don't like Woodson's system, so Woodson isn't going to prioritize them.
  21. Wednesday night Woodson watched a triple header: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD

The Simon Charles X account was the same one that reported Sean Miller to Ohio State. It appears that it's not a reliable account.
  23. And we would still suck at rebounding.
  24. Getting a "proven" guy that's currently working at another P6 school is rare. I'm counting the Big East as the 6th conference. Looking at the current top 50 in Kenpom, there are only 5 coaches that meet this scenario where they took a P6 job when they were currently employed by a P6 school. Brad Underwood- Oklahoma State to Illinois Shaka Smart- Texas to Marquette Bill Self- Illinois to Kansas Jamie Dixon- Pitt to TCU Kevin Willard- Seton Hall to Maryland Underwood, Self, and Willard were obvious upgrades. Smart left Texas before the posse caught him. Dixon made a lateral move to his alma mater. The other top 45 teams in Kenpom either hired an unemployed coach, promoted from within, or hired a mid-major coach. To think that Bruce Pearl wants to leave a superior Auburn program to rebuild IU is a pipe dream, especially at the age of 64. He and his agent are using IU for leverage. Look, I would love Oats, but unless he's terribly unhappy at Alabama there's very little reason for him to move jobs. TJ Otzelberger is an up-and-coming P6 coach at Iowa State. He's never won the Big 12 or Big 12 Tournament, but he's made the NCAA Tournament. Is that "proven"? Would Otzelberger even consider the IU job as an upgrade? An up-and-coming mid-major coach may be our only option.
