Will Wade isn't nearly as good of a basketball coach as Chris Beard though.

Let's be real, coaching salaries and buyouts are almost exclusively donor funded. I think almost everybody would unanimously agree that Bob Knight made it a point to turn his players into productive members of society and for the most part he did. I think most would agree that Bob Knight was a shitty human being. Can the same not be said for Beard? Bit hypocritical don't you think?

I can separate Beard being a **** bag person and his ability to coach and win basketball games. Again, neither are mutually exclusive. I did the same thing with RMK. So did everybody else. Chris Beard should be viewed as nothing more than a basketball coach.... Nothing more, nothing less. If IU wants to get serious about winning basketball again, they'll hire Chris Beard. Winning doesn't seem to be a priority so it's all moot anyway.

Standards? He's literally paid to win basketball games.

He made a mistake that he'll have to live with forever. I'm not sure what that has to do with his ability to coach and teach the game of basketball? He's literally one of the best in the business as what he does. This fan base and university tolerated RMK for 30 years until he no longer won, they'd do the same for Beard. Moral compass, so long as it is upheld WHILE employed, is not high on my priority list when hiring a coach who quite literally is paid to win basketball games.

I'm hiring someone based on their ability to perform a job or task to the best of their abilities. There aren't many people in America who have a better ability at what they do than Chris Beard. If his prior transgressions are repeated he's gone, simple as that.

IU tolerated numerous incidents of documented assault from its men's basketball coach until he no longer won. I don't understand the holier than thou crowd? I don't condone what was alleged to have happened at all but I don't think his life as a coach should be over with for good. I'm all for second chances because I know and have seen people grow from some awful mistakes. And for the record, I agree Beard won't ever coach at IU. But we also aren't serious about winning either so it makes sense.

I'm not sure why either are mutually exclusive? Xavier Johnson is a 6th year player who still hasn't learned. He hurts the team far more than he helps at this juncture of his career and his shenanigans both on and off the court have run its course. Chris Beard is one of the best basketball coaches in the country deserving of a second chance. Hold him to the same standard that you should hold XJ too. One screw up and you're gone.

He's terrible defensively to the point he's unplayable down the stretch. He's the teams best shooter on a team that can't shoot. The fact that he's that bad defensively to the point he can't play down the stretch is a massive issue.

Overlooked? I’m the biggest RMK fan out there and his behavior was overlooked for nearly 3 decades because he won…until he didn’t. Pearl was fired and given a show cause for lying to the NCAA about hosting a recruit at his backyard bbq. Think about that. That’s choir boy stuff these days. The allegations against Beard are reprehensible, but at the end of the day just that. I’m a firm believer of second chances, put him on a zero tolerance policy with several outs in his contract if that behavior is ever repeated.

Please. He said more nice things and gushed over the Indiana program more than he did his own team after the @$$ kicking he gave us last month both before and after the game. He’d take this job in a second if we offered.

Bruce Pearl would have taken this job 3 times over by now and he still has a ton more in the tank. Chris Beard has proven he’s one of the best coaches in the country. He’s not an Ole Miss lifer. I’d settle for Porter Moser. Dusty May and Shrewsbury both have infinitely higher ceilings than Woodson and would at least construct a competent roster and run functioning sets. Not sure either are ready for this job yet. But you wouldn’t have to ask anybody else if Pearl and Beard were your 1st or 2nd options.

Not sure there’s been a player in the history of college basketball who has built more hype over a 3 game, 3 day stretch than Xavier Johnson. He’s been a net negative for almost the entirety of his 2.5 years here.

There’s plenty of other coaches out there better than Painter that would pick up the phone if we actually called.

And why this hire made ZERO sense from the get go. You don’t make experimental hires at Indiana. We haven’t gotten a hire right in 25 years.

I don’t know how some of you young guys who’ve never seen IU as an elite program do this year after year. I applaud you. Just awful basketball. Terrible coaching. No fundamentals. Really just a disgusting product. Only saving grace is that Rutgers is on our level.

I think you'll see one of the JMU backs or Ellison as the "starting" RB, possibly Henderson if he does come back. Howland will get touches but I'm guessing most in situational down and distances.

    Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

He joked in his presser saying he must have fallen asleep this morning driving into work because he hit a curb and popped a tire.

For an edge rusher? He's heavier than Dallas Turner who is the top protected EDGE prospect in the draft and the same weight as Jared Verse and Kydrian Jenkins who led the B10 in sacks.

Anyone know the actual injury prognosis for Omar Cooper? I recall Tom Allen stating several times that Omar Cooper's injury was not season ending yet he didn't play in any of the last 3 games lol. Injury report simply stated 'undisclosed injury".
  24. IndyResident16

    Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Guessing JMU players who have a bunch of players in the portal but haven’t opted out of their bowl game.

    Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA

Guessing it's because he's the 30th head coach in Indiana football history. Would be too big of a coincidence right?
