Best news I've heard all day. What a relief. -

I'll go one further, just hire a coach who won't tolerate low bball IQ or players who don't play hard/tough. -

I've already prepared myself for the amount of mental gymnastics that will be on full display once Dolson inevitably promotes Calbert Cheaney here in the next year or two. Hell those same people have convinced themselves that Dusty May is the next Brad Stevens and if you didn't know, Brad Stevens was once interested in the job and he was coming here until he didn't. -

The last time we supposedly had this much money lined up for a coach, we had a now NBA exec “all but sign the piece of paper” and ended up with a 62 year old NBA assistant a decade removed from being a head coach. What could go wrong this time around? -

Lloyd is going to replace Few at Gonzaga I would think. Will probably happen in the next 5 years unless Gonzaga wins a title sooner. -

It’s been a long time since I’ve supported an athletic department who gave a sh*t like Wisconsin, miss that feeling. If the trade does go down at least let somebody legit break it and not some wannabe. Please? -

What standards does IU have? This comment is so @$$ backwards. This same university employed Bob Knight for nearly 30 years despite a long and repeated pattern of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. And they employed him till he was no longer winning at the the level he was accustomed too. Spare me with the image bulls***. -

At least you're honest about it and I respect that. They loud minority on here vehemently opposing someone like Chris Beard will also be the same camp 10-15 years from now wondering why IU is still a third rate B10 program. -

I'm thinking about all the IE guys we've missed out on and/or not bothered to recruit in general. -

Not as much as we should. We'd be in good shape if we simply took the top 4-5 recruits from the 25 Indiana Elite team but instead we'll chase and throw money at Montverde kids, call them winners, and anoint them saviors before they ever play a game. Rinse, wash, repeat. Offseason champions every year for a reason. -

I like Scott Drew but there's an irreparable relationship with Indiana Elite who is one of the bigger AAU programs we recruit from. -

I'm a fan of common sense. There's two hires that suggests IU is serious about winning. 1. Chris Beard 2. Bruce Pearl Anything else is taking the lazy way out and the definition of insanity. -

Dusty May has had 1, possibly 2 successful years at a mid-major depending on how this year plays out. Chris Beard has taken 3 different P5 programs to the tournament and done it in a 4 year period. There's zero comparison between the two. One is widely considered to be the best coach in college basketball while the other is a hot up and comer who may or may not make it at the next level when given a chance. -

We forgetting Chris Beard lost in the national championship game in overtime? -

I'm sure he'd be (unfortunately) the #1 candidate. This thread would reach 1500 pages as we'd simply be looking for another coach in 2027/2028 -

"Drunk guy attempts to murder his wife" yet is cleared of all charges. I'd wants prays too if I were you, but at this point getting a clue would be equally suffice. -

Fearmonger much? Read the toxicology report pertaining to his arrest. I don't need your prayers. -

I'm fully aware of what the police report states. Remember when 95% of this board dismissed the police report pertaining to Mgbako's arrest late last year? You know because its the police? Hypocritical bunch ehh? -

Rug sweeping? Please list all the alcohol-induced incidents that have been road blocks en route to Chris Beard becoming the best college basketball coach in America? And before you spout off about the domestic incident in Austin, read the toxicology report. I want actual documented incidents, not what you've read on Twitter, Message Boards, etc. Thanks in advance. -

IndyResident16 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I know what you’re saying, but what does his domestic dispute have to do with his ability to coach? It’s a case closed, book shut type deal where all charges were dropped with no further legal proceedings that could jeopardize his availability on the sideline. And to your second point, coaching salaries and buyouts are donor funded at almost every school and in a lot of cases up to 100%. -

Playing hard and punching somebody in the nuts are two different things, jfc. And it’s the third time he’s done it since he’s been here. Go to bed. -

As opposed to somebody eagerly awaiting his downfall? He likes beer, so what. He’s damn good at what he does. Simple fact. NIL means nothing if you don’t have a coach. Chris Beard and his Ole Miss squad would kick the living crap out of our pampered NIL mercenaries. And he’d take Woody’s players and beat him with them in round 2. 95% of this fan base wants a winner and wouldn’t blink an eye if Chris Beard was hired. Unfortunately, the other 5% primarily lives on boards like these. -

I don’t have an argument. Just sick and tired of people like you excusing his behavior. He’s 24 years old. There’s zero accountability from anybody associated with the program and it’s the been that way two decades.
