Sorry, but anyone who assumes that people with sources on a free message board is “real” info is doing it wrong. If you think you have real news on the coaching search, what is it again?
-
I’ve decided that’s evidence it’s accurate.
-
Seems like we can get Brownell for a lot less than that.
-
Just for clarification, is that now or in 4 years?
-
Got any more of that stuff?
-
By my 2 minute research, Clemson is one of 6 teams in the top 25 in both offense and defense according to Pomeroy. Let’s bring Brad home.
-
Well, if it is Brownell, Dolson will have succeeded in bringing the fan base together.
-
Except what are we hearing? Speculation, rumors, whispers. I’m not throwing shade at posters who know people. I’m saying that most people close to this are hearing almost nothing. We read posts and tweets and then react to them. But in the end, this search may be going exactly how Dolson wants. So until we know who our coach is, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he deserves and enjoying the rumors, whispers and speculation as entertainment and not something to really care much about. I view this board like the times back in school when we’d go to Kilroy’s and argue about sports all night. Only without the beer smell.

Yep. I have a hard time believing, to the point of almost a zero chance, that Stevens has been sitting there for over a month contemplating on whether or not to accept the job, and just today said, no thanks. Since I never bought into Stevens, I’m not disappointed. Brownell on the other hand…..
-
If by dead, you mean no Stevens, maybe, these inside sources have been wrong all along and it was never alive. I don’t mean the posters on this board. I mean the people telling them things. Now, if by dead, you mean you hear it’s Brownell, then that’s a head scratcher for sure. Disclaimer: if we hire Brownell and we are in the elite eight next year, I told you haters to let Brownell cook.
-
Yeah, I’m not sure I get Brownell. I don’t think it’s I’ll be him. But love to hear the reasoning behind him over any number of coaches. As for McCollum, if it’s him, then I'll trust Dolson will provide him with the resources he needs to navigate the portal and NIL. But still think all of this is just speculation.
-
I still think McCollum to IU is a social media creation but if it came to that, I wouldn’t feel as deflated as with Brownell or some other guys who have been around awhile and have inconsistent results. But, it’d be a huge risk. Does he turn into Stevens or Gerry Faust? Likely something in between but a wide variance for sure. I just find it difficult to believe that with what IU is willing to pay a coach and the NIL budget that it will end up being McCollum.
-
So, McCollum is number 2 on the hit parade?
-
Why does quietness mean it’s not going to be a top tier guy? Why would any top tier coach want it being discussed that he may leave whatever school he’s at? The fact that we fans aren’t getting our urge to know scratched doesn’t mean the news will be bad. Or not as good as we hoped.
-
If we are having to demand that a coach brings in a proven recruiter, he’s not ready for this job. It really is that simple for me.
-
No. It shows that some people think what they read in social media is accurate. It may be. But that’s not something I’m assuming.
-
For me, I take it all with a grain of salt. In the end, the insiders on this forum or people like Goodman are simply saying what they hear. Or inferring things from what they hear. If people choose to believe any of it, it’s on them if they are disappointed. Confirmation bias is a real thing and we see it played out when everything being bantered about is all opinion. Makes it fun for people like me who put zero stock in anything I read.

Unless he didn’t sign anything, it’s not his call.

Looks like someone closed the barn door after the horse is gone.

Sorry if I missed it but I thought I saw a link to be able to see the speeches after the game. Anyone have that? -
About to start a Van Halen tribute band concert. Been pregaming with some fraternity brothers. So in the goal of post count, feel free to ignore this. 1) I turn 60 on April 1. So for those of you wanting a coach for the next 20 years, great. I want a coach for pretty much now. 2) Having said that, I haven’t see a lot of coaches mentioned here who I would be super disappointed in. Maybe Brownell? But I just don’t think IU needs to get that far down on the list. 3) For coaches who think IU is a fishbowl and IU fans expect too much, pound sand. I want a coach who thinks they are the best and doesn’t care about too high of expectations. 4) Eddie Van Halen is a top 5 guitarist. All the haters who think he’s not, there are not 5 other guitarists who, when you hear them play, you know who it is. Well, to me there aren’t 5. Which is my criteria. 5) The NCAA tournament is the greatest sporting event. Period. It absolutely sucks when IU isn’t in it. So pound the **** out of OSU, and, as the youngsters say, LFG.

Veteran coach, looking for an elusive title in a tough environment in the NIL era…….Mark Few
-
It depends on what you mean by build up. I don’t care who the coach is, missing the tournament next year would be a fail. I’m not saying we should be top 10 next year (it’d be nice) but in todays age with the portal and NIL, the time for years of building up a program are gone for top schools.
-
There’s also no data that he would beat top college teams. When I grew up in Indy, there was a player for the Indians named Champ Summers. He was a triple A all star and a stud with the Indians. And that was his ceiling. McCollum may end up a great coach. But if we hire him, it either means we whiffed on about 8 other coaches or we have poor decision makers. Or both.

And to me, sports and academics aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s just funny to me that professors would think they are important enough to matter. That’s not to say I want Beard. He’s way down on the list for me.
