Trilly just confirmed the Galloway info I posted here last week (and initially about 3-4 weeks ago). That is why BTB is the goat. I posted that here and you guys took a very relaxed and logical approach - "this sucks, lets see what happens" I posted it at Peegs and immediately - "FRAUD!, NO POSTS, etc" Already canceled by Peegs membership and staying right at home here.

The foreplay is half the fun... at least that's what the people say
-
They're just making fun of Woody for not going to watch Sisely tonight while Shrews and Painter made the drive.

Damn ya'll the Trilly drop is 2 hours old now I figured I show up to tons of comments.. He said he got a text from another guy today who he trusts. He said that this guy must have talked to someone in Pearl's corner and he said that Pearl to IU is very close.

IU's B1G record with XJ in the lineup: 16-18 IU's B1G record without XJ in the lineup: 12-11

Haha! If I miss a day on this forum, it becomes a bit daunting to come back because then I feel like I need to read every post just to catch up. I'll see the person who passed this info on to me tomorrow. I should be able to get some further context or clarification, if there is any..

It seems like the likelihood of replacement increases by about +5% with each loss, +5% with each double digit loss, and 3% with each horrid post game presser. With that said, if you are Dolson - I don't see how you don't make the move knowing that Pearl is backdoor lobbying for the job. You have to set the "feelings" aside with Woody being an IU saint and make the move because it's a clear path to improving the program.

This sounds so familiar... when Dayton and Wichita State played in the round of 32. I remember thinking "man, these teams play such great ball, I'd be happy to have either of these 2 coaches. But yes, I'd still take May or Pearl in a heartbeat.

Year 1: finalist for Joe B Hall award (best new D1 coach). set FAU record for rebounds and free throw % Year 2: First time FAU had 2 consecutive winning seasons in 15 years. Set school record for points per game Year 3: Highest KenPom rating FAU had ever had, first time FAU had 3 consecutive winning seasons in history Year 4. 2nd or 3rd in conference , first time in Year 5: Final 4 and NCAA champ + multiple coach of the year awards Year 6: 20-6 record, 2nd place in conference (moved up to the AAC) Amongst all these years are school records in almost every category, but primary scoring and rebounding and free throw %.

I'd be happy w Dusty or Pearl. I think Pearl is more a sure fire you know wha you will get. But Dusty has taken FAU to as many Final 4s in just 5 years as what Pearl has in 25 years. Give me either and I am in heaven.

Honestly, the way Woody has handled pressers is probably more damning and off-putting than the piss poor results this season. It shows that there is no accountability for himself, he didn't and doesn't have a coherent plan, and did not expect things to be this difficult. If he had just given measured and mature responses to most of the questions, there wouldn't be as much heat as there is. Everything I've heard is that he is a really good dude and a really loyal person so I don't want this to sounds like anything against him as a person. It's the "him as a college basketball head coach" that is the major concern.

The Trilly stuff is (a) Trilly said that he thinks Pearl would be IU's option 1 if Woody was let go (b) previously he said he reached out to someone close to Pearl and they said "the IU job has always meant something more to Bruce"
-
Trilly had originally reported that Pear's buyout was $17 million. Turns out that was misreported. Pearl's buyout will actually be $8.5 million in a month. I really think this changes a lot.
-
Without any inside knowledge on the present situation, I think you are right. He is safe for now. The only way things change, as you have said, is if we finish the season with zero - 1 (maybe 2) more wins. I think there is just going to be so much negative momentum with each loss that at that point things could boil over, especially knowing that Queen is not coming. Tonight is a big one too, because if you can't beat a winless road team in AH, then the fanbase is about to really get vocal.

Woody saying that no one expected JHS to be a one and done... Meanwhile, here's an article from before the season where TJD and plenty of others said that he will likely be a one and done given his talent.
-
Yes, Duke fans were pretty disgruntled with him in his first 2 seasons.

We might get this thread to 200 pages by the end of Friday if we lose tomorrow night.

They are not 20-7 they are 20-6. At this point in the season, Brad Stevens had Butler 14-9 the season after their first Final 4. Archie was coaching a program that was already awesome. The coach prior to Archie had 4 straight 20+ win seasons and the coach after him has had 20+ wins in 5 of his last 6 seasons and would have been a #1 seed had Covid not hit.
-
Year 1 they broke FAU's scoring record and he was a finalist for the best new d1 coach. Year 3 they had FAU's highest KenPom rating ever (up to that point). Year 4 they got 2nd in their conference. Year 5 won conference and Final 4. Year 6 they are 20-6, moved up a conference and in the top 3. That is building a program out absolutely nothing.
-
I don't disagree but a Final 4 appearance and building one of the hottest programs out of a dumpster fire might be just as good of a metric for success. I can't think of a single coach that has ever done that (Final 4 within first 5 years after taking over a sub .350 program that had never won a NCAA tourney game... Wouldn't be the first or the last time Woody does that.. Dane and Dusty are pretty close. They talk a lot and Dane spent time w Dusty after being let go from IU. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/dane-fife-has-no-doubt-that-dusty-may-will-be-ready-for-his-one-shining-moment/
-
Saying Dusty would be a deer in the headlights - that is your PTSD from the Archie era speaking. Forget Archie ever happened and you would take May in a heart beat.

Pearl’s buyout is $17 million

Trilly reached out to someone close to Pearl today and asked if the IU job opened up would Pearl be interested. The response back was “the IU job definitely means a little more to him”.
-
He wasn't a particularly strong 3 point shooter in HS either. Last year was an anomaly. With that said, we ask so much of him this season that in terms of playing some point, guarding the other teams best 2-3, jumping passing lanes, etc. that it's no surprise his shooting numbers have taken a dip. Last year we had an All American big and a first round PG who could find him in open spot up situations.

@Chris007 I just had Trilly check and someone on IU's staff 100% thinks that Trey is coming back next year. That tracks with Rabby, so clearly might be some dichotomy between each side. Regardless, I am a big Trey fan and hope he is back. A lot to play out over the next 4 weeks.
