Agreed. And the scholarship SHOULD be fair game. It's the schools, not the players. I suspect some kids are going to learn some hard life lessons during this process.
-
Definitely have a deadline so kids can't jerk a program around all spring and summer. It will eventually calm down like most things do with time. Once a few kids flop at new schools, or get left without a scholarship at top schools and have to settle for somewhere less than ideal, this new concept of college free agency will lose some of its shine.

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

I'll take 84 in a 70. Plenty familiar with that! -
I see your point, but there are numerous quotes and interviews with NBA stars speaking glowingly of Woody regarding the trust they have in him for speaking the truth. Antigua is as slick and dirty as they come in recruiting. Hope the Franklins do their homework.

Agree it doesn't make sense to transfer to Illinois for similar playing opportunities. We'll have to see what our style of play looks like, but it took Ayo longer than expected to position himself for the draft. That being said. Armaan and his mom might want to talk to Mr. Gunn about what potential opportunities IU provides former players AFTER basketball. He seems to see the BIG picture. You don't think Coach Woodson and Dolson might have some influential connections to help with financial opportunities after his playing days are over? Especially a kid from Indy? Pretty short sighted in my humble opinion.

So Brunk is basically a bonus scholarship for this year. Perfect. I want all our guys back, but hope CMW makes it perfectly clear that spots will be filled. Players get to consider options, and so do we.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Love it. 110,000 is pretty specific. Any idea how much we might be willing to spend for Lewis? -

I would agree and even contend NBA free agency is even more like recruiting the transfer portal, which is growing in importance. Those kids and their parents have already been through the recruiting process once, and should be more savvy toward false promises, and looking for authenticity in relationships. -
Don Fischer & Mike Woodson Interview (TONIGHT @7:30)

Steady, confident, and he sounds like Tone Loc. Just seems like he has a plan and can't wait to implement it. -

For sure. But how nice to have your new head coach be able to guide you and give objective, highly experienced feedback on the NBA. What a great opportunity to build trust with TJD and the other players. -

This is pure gold. Love all the theories and rumors. Really appreciate our insiders sharing all they hear. Nobody knows anything concrete other than Dolson, so let the fun continue. We will make a great hire, and will rally around our new general. (Lower case g) Also love the fact the press and paid sites know nothing. Eat it. Our theories are just as good as their guesses. Please don't argue with the losers on Twitter; don't give those deadbeats validation. Let's have fun and ride this wave until the end. -

It's always interesting to see how people respond under stress. We all want our Hoosiers to win. Gotta be ready to roll no matter who it is! -
Agreed. Please help me out with how he would meet the criteria Dolson outlined in his press conference.
-
Please, no more packing D and slow tempo offense. I get that Beard's teams don't exactly have fast paced offenses, but hopefully he learned to adapt. If the 87 Hoosiers had the ability to run against UNLV with a similar motion offense, adjustments can be made. The talent level he could attract to Bloomington would be quite different.

Candidate Thread: Nate Oats (Alabama)

Stated VERY well. Let's just say recruiting is NOT an obstacle at Bama. -

It would definitely be more enjoyable to watch. As far as conference strength, SEC is way down this year, even if they have a couple teams win a couple games. The B1G juggernaut this year was brutal. And as my dad always told me, the wrestling match style of play in the B1G will usually hurt teams in tightly called tournament games. I guess we'll see. -

He's up there if he would leave at this time. Definitely has the personality and confidence. I want to see how he does in the tourney in half court. They appear to be a "live by the three, die by the three" team right now. The SEC was so weak this year, hard to tell. -

Living in Birmingham with numerous Tide friends, I watch most of Bama's games. Oates is solid and very well liked down here. He's also 1 bad season from complete obscurity to the football fanbase. Their big money guys are ego driven, so the more they win this tournament, the harder it would be to get him. He plays a fun style of offense, and aggressive D. The offense relies heavily on his strong use of analytics, which means overemphasized use of the 3 pointer, or shots at the rim. Mid range shots seem to be very discouraged. He has a math background, so it's all about the numbers. The players and fans love his style, and recruiting has really picked up under Oates. The rumor goes, the only jobs he would leave for are Wisconsin or Michigan State. He is a Midwest boy, so my personal opinion would be he would have to listen to an IU offer. Gard isn't going anywhere, and Izzo seems like he would get to choose his successor. The major drawback would be his brevity of coaching experience at P5 level. If this picks up any steam, I will have some good opportunities for information. -

Really appreciate the extra effort to accommodate the HSN transplants. I've lurked over here for years, and really enjoy the community. Cheers!

Bilas used to be very informative and objective. Now he just tows the company line and promotes the ESPN agenda. His ego has gotten the best of him unfortunately.
