How many assistant coaches can you have? Serious question. -
I keep hearing he’s not qualified or not worthy to be IU’s coach. Interested to hear if you were AD what are 5 requirements to qualify you for the job?

I appreciate your opinion, but he has been a assistant coach for a long time with some of the best coaches out there. I think he can handle it he will have several people there to help. -

What are the qualifications to be IU coach
HoosierBoiler replied to HoosierBoiler's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My 5 would be... 1.doesn’t run packline defense 2. when recruiting look for scorers that you can teach defense(not the other way around) try to score more than 60points a game. 3.Willing to move students next to floor and put names on jerseys etc. 4..Able to make in Game Coaching decisions, play a game that suits your players. Adapt if plan A doesn’t work 5.Understand that this is a tough conference....But WE ARE ******* INDIANA UNIVERSITY! Play like your the best and expect to win every game. (Would really go a long way if you had once bitten a Iowa player in a game or threw a ball off a guys face on a inbound play) -

I think what most people that want a IU guy are trying to say is that they came through the program when it was a winner and think that they have emotional attachment to the program and maybe more invested in it to try to get it back there. Kinda like if you opened up a store and grew it up real nice and handed it off to your buddy to run and it started to go down hill, don’t you think you would be able to go back and get it going again? -

Just give Mike Lewis the job already! He has plenty of experience coached with some great coaches. (Knight/Stevens/Beard/Cronin) -

I think he coached with beard under knight at TT for two years. Worked with some great coaches, gonna suck when he gets head coaching job someplace else. -

Blue blood programs usually hire a guy from their program to keep the culture going. We lost our culture a while back -

This ...... Inferior candidates.....I don’t see Mike Lewis as inferior. It’s gonna take passion, heart, and a lot of other intangible things to get this program back. -

At the end of the day it really is gonna come down to what Scott D wants and his job is probably on the line with this choice. That’s got to be pretty stressful, we all have our opinions on how to fix this mess. Let’s see what he comes up with!
