If the distinction is the longevity of said shift …..I would agree with your preference …it’s a delicate balance hoping our freshman are two or three year players …if so we are headed in a great direction
-
The tide has definitely shifted for this year
-
When watching him in high school I always thought he downshifted a gear when playing people his size ( which was rare ) or physical opponents …I wasn’t sure he has the outside game necessary to not have to do heavy dirty work ….I agree lots of time to fix it but I always viewed him as a solid contributor at big ten level not a future all American or anything
-
There is the million dollar question …can he adjust and overcome that consistently and can he maintain a 40% three point accuracy over a prolonged period …if so he will be great if not he’ll just be another guy
-
I do like Braden smith as a player and I followed Furst at Blackhawk , i already feel dirty about that ….don’t pile it on em
-
A team that could be a TEAM in two years
-
Agreed problem was he could defend the sg position
-
I won’t bet my house on it yet …you’re right …part of why I watched last night was he captivated me in hs play and I wanted to see how that translates to a floor full of athletes …he will take some lumps but I think he will surprise a lot of people …painter starting him was something I certainly didn’t immediately expect
-
Hulls was an outstanding ball handler and would have been our primary pg if not for yogi I think that’s actually a better comp I was just trying to fit opponents mold ….those steals on the stat sheet aren’t athleticism they are from him knowing where the ball is and will go …I think as an upperclassmen he will be an aaron craft Jordan bohannon blend and he will be no fun to play against
-
Stu not sure if you watched or just saw the stat line …I’d you didn’t and you can stomach it try and catch their next game …watch smith run offense. He’s very small which is tough to make up for in big ten play without being a freak athlete. It was clear in high school I just wasn’t sure if it would translate to the big stage but he has that “it” factor , he sees things on the floor and can control the pace and flow of a game and he looks comfortable doing it at 19. I’m sure he’ll take some lumps with bad shooting nights but if not this year the next three he’s gonna be way worse than a Jordan bohannon to us
-
Oh I don’t think we are in bad shape , hope you didn’t take it that way , but he’s a kid you’d love to have on your roster and he’s likely a four year ( or however many years kids will get for whatever reason) starter ….it’s early but I’m not positive we will get to keep ours for four
-
Sucks …Braden will Be a massive thorn in our side
-
14 assists to zero turnovers is insane at any level but college maybe most of all …never heard or him before your post
-
Agreed on both ! Stetson has 3 Indiana kids and they were fun to watch …the whole team shared the ball extremely well…could be a really solid mis major the next couple years
-
Was dealing with turf toe a lot of the off season I think he’s finally moving well he looked solid handling the ball the acc guys were talking him up most of the game …he took a couple really stupid shots in the second half though
-
Fun game to watch …Leonard hamilton was like “ what the f just happened “ at the end of the first half after brown did the tip off the fsu defender and advanced it for a dunk

Contrary to popular opinion… I am not. I live in Hartford city though so, given the size of the community, most people know each other fairly well. I assume you meant me ? -

Agreed …and along with those points he was 9th in assists ( only person in history to be top ten in both ) 4th points , 9th assiats, good citizen , good student, won’t be out worked by anyone. I mean you’d think I was asking people to cheer for the patriots -

True but I think that would be thr case if he moved somewhere with a history of winning ( a bar Reeve ) or a loaded roster he could fit in ( like a Blackhawk ). He moved 1. To be coached by a relative and to play with relatives and 2. To a team that was 1-69 over the three previous seasons with a roster full of kids who wouldn’t produce a single starter on any other varsity team in the conference. -
