I think that certainly plays a part so any improvement Blackford has and any success they have against respected programs will be extremely important. I probably am higher on the kid than anyone and my main knock is and always will be his frame ....he can handle the ball and shoot D1 level but he will have difficulty keeping guards that are 1-4 inches taller , 25 pounds heavier , and can jump higher from scoring or from sweeping the glass. I do think he’ll develop his frame even more by next year but that’s a big issue. He played on the Indiana Elite 2021 platinum team with Kaufman from silver creek and hopf ( transfer into Barr Reeve) and he definitely held his own, lead that team in assists and was either third or fourth in scoring

They typically aren’t open shots either. He had a double team from tip to final buzzer last night ...shot one open three off a broken play from an offensive rebound the rest were contested and/or deep off the line ....he’s shooting over 70% inside the arc for the season

solid game ....had at least ten assists to go with the 32 but I lost count ....not sure if the camera crew caught it but I made note of two assists worth watching if they caught it ....1. 4:40 left in second and 2. 40 left in third ........also thank god for TJD what a monster performance and high motor kid ....anyone still think we don’t need more shooting when we turn out like that against Nebraska ?

had to leave at 4 for Blackford game so didn’t get to watch Iu till late last night ...looked exactly like last year ...tough but middle of the road team took away our number one option and everyone else looked lost ...had stretches during FSU that reminded me of last year also , couldn’t even get the ball in bounds for a good stretch ....super jekyl and Hyde because when we are on and energetic we are tough luke had 31 and ten plus assists and only played 24 minutes ( sat all but one minute of the fourth ) ....7 points and 7 assists in 3rd quarter when the lead pushed to 50

Anyone coming to blue river valley tonight ?

A little premature ...but purely out of curiosity ...does anyone recall a player leading the State in scoring AND assists in the same season ? I looking at the ihsaa list of yearly scoring leaders none stood out as being clear cut in that department. You guys think of anyone ?

Good call he had two turnovers and one of them was a traveling call on a pass just as you described near the end of the third quarter. Oddly enough though only the Wors boy is a transfer ...grimes the jay county transfer is only eligible to play jv. I agree he makes a difference though as previously it was only brown and Stroble that were dangerous and now they have a third shooter and add a competent rebounder and defender ....now teams can’t leave the other three players wide open. Oak hill beat wabash and missessenewa beat Marion. Northwestern also had a strong opening so I think mississinewa, oak hill, frankton, northwestern and then DEFINITELY wabash, andrean, and the north Daviess tournament will be a great gauge of how much the group is better as a whole.

Also ...what were your thoughts in general ? Have you seen him other occasions ? Would love to hear some outside feedback during a kind of ho hum game

LOL! I was going to say something similar ...that’s by far the worst I’ve seen him shoot and it wasn’t even an abnormal shot or a super far distance

I believe 26 was final number ...at least 10 assists I counted could have been a couple more my four year old was not being a good fan

I retract my statement and apologize ...I was looking up this years lineup and got and article on last years in the google search ....the article mentions two of the teams playing Linton and andrean and I misinterpreted that as both of those teams participating along with Blackhawk and BR ....sorry for the confusion good catch thanks for reigning me in....that being the case adding andrean and that tourney to their schedule is still a good thing

That’s fair...and Blackford has 5 games on its schedule I would love to see majorly upgraded ...but Blackford did play Seven sectional champions last year and has those same seven this year plus adding andrean and the north Davies tournament ( which had 4 of the 8 state finalists last year ). I think they are going in the right direction at 2A and I also agree some of those other kids in the top 5 are playing more intramural type competition.

Final stat line: 13-20 for 32 points , 3-5 from 3, 3-3 ft, 1 reb, 4 steals, 14 assists and tweet from max preps :

Toledo assistant coach Massey made the trip Which surprised me since it wasn’t a good matchup and they already offered ...spoke to several of us after the game ....seemed really high on Luke

I never mind ...Luke finishes with 32 ...lost count on assists but it was a solid amount he had 22 points at halftime but it was a blowout ....94-40 final

This kid definitely can ....I miss the days when it seemed like iu had double digit guys on their roster who were shot makers

He’d be doing better if grimes hadn’t been declared ineligible ....6’4 and can competently defend and put the ball in the basket around the rim. That’s something he hasn’t has been missing that would really up Blackford’s chances and Luke’s assist total
