Well glad that’s over ....I know three things ....1. There is no cell reception anywhere near that building 2. No idea what luke finished with I was too frustrated to pay that much attention but I do know he broke the all time tournament scoring record without forcing anything out of flow 3. Blackford couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean standing on the beach and luke brown was literally the only player on his team that cares if he won or lost ....loogootee out hustled every player on the floor the entire 32 minutes of the game

I didn’t think you were giving Stroble a hard time I thought you were correct I just meant I hate to think of him as a detriment to the team Since he’s from a good fam and a good kid ...I could see that being a correct take on Luke ....I think the other kids on the Blackford team play hard in games that they are expected to contend when they get in a game against a big highly rated team they clam up under the bright lights ( other than Luke who is used to it ). You should check out one of his games in summer league ...he played with hopf and Kaufman against top level competition and his scoring obviously wasn’t as high but he still scored and also lead the team in assists

Having seen them play last night ...if I was barr Reeve coach ir athletic director I would not play hopf in varsity competition this year even IF he got an injunction. As currently comprised they can win the state title without him ...I would not jeopardize my season playing someone who was granted injunctive relief when there is realistic possibility the end result of the litigation is a determination by a court that he was not eligible thus resulting in a forfeited title and season you could have won without him. O’Neil knepp and graber are about as tough as you’ll find and they will have Knepp graber and hopf next year They are going to have a great couple years

He was a freshman and was forced to start the year before brown came ( during the 1-69 streak ) ...he had potential to be a solid player ...he’s a quiet and generally good natured kid and he has a really nice family So it was a little tough to swallow the objective evaluation even though it’s been pretty obvious through the season thus far

It actually hurts me to say this but that’s exactly what I was thinking you’d say and similar to the conclusion we reached. He has actually always hovered around 40% ( or been a reliable shooter at least ) and so some of the misses were a little uncharacteristic but we literally touched on almost everything you noticed specifically the 1. Poor shot selection 2. The inability to recognize when his driving lane has closed and to kick to an open shooter and 3. MOST importantly his seeming refusal to work on defense or moving without the ball .....it’s incredibly disappointing because with his height and stretched build/ long arms he could be a force working the ball inside like knepp or the Montgomery kid from south ridge who are both similar length. It’s almost like since brown is doing the scoring he is pouting and not willing to do the other necessary parts of the game ........we have noticed it in particular during this seasons games and so it was really interesting to have someone point it out from outside of Blackford thank you so much for sharing your thoughts as it kind of validates what I was seeing

Hey ! 1. You’re totally right about the announcers we listen with the sound off when we are out of town 2. You just sound the most interesting thing I’ve heard all night ...if you have a second can you expound on the Stroble comment because I had a long convo with some other backford die hards at the hotel tonight and I would love an outsiders opinion

I agree with everything you said except it was graber in first half and knepp that covered him second half and you’re correct it worked better .....knepp graber and O’Neil are about as good a three man combo as I’ve seen the last three years ...also well coached and organized

Got to Blackford Game a few hours early and got to see Montgomery again ...like him even more now ...he was dominant ....spent most of the 4th not scoring but he handled the ball , rebounded , distributed and played solid D

Yeah it’s rough at times but fair point they travel to all these for free and show the away games so that is nice ...I usually turn volume off ....first half was awesome ...we got out coached badly and outplayed the second half ....barr Reeve is for real....Luke played pretty well against top competition

Thanks for that I appreciate the objectivity ...I understand the detraction especially since there are some things about brown I’m still critical of ....i was the same way on Jordy hulls and ended up wrong ....old fart has paid his dues and I think I over saturated him and made him have an expectation of brown that he then didn’t agree with after talking with people he trusts ...I don’t harbor any ill will I respect his opinion I just respectfully disagree with it key word being respectfully ....if Luke continues to build his frame I hope guys will continue to give him a fair shake this summer because I still Believe power five offers will eventually come and if not it’s been a fun ride at Blackford

Lol I truly appreciate that ....I may make up you entire 23000 margin it was pretty kind of you to limit it to a suggestion of half. He’s polarizing and i understand why but he’s a lot of fun to watch. I’ll keep up the updates for sure. Naysayers and negativity don’t bother me much otherwise I wouldn’t still be ten years into my marriage lol....Luke will play fine but I think Blackford is going to get a wake up call tonight even if hopf still isn’t eligible

As of this morning the case management system still shows no entry newer than the Courts direction for the parties to submit proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law by yesterday. That either means they were submitted and the system hasn’t been updated or that the parties decline to submit any in which case the Court could render a decision at anytime. Lots of interesting plot lines from this process.

Anyone coming to Blackford / Barr Reeve at North Daviess tonight ?

Bad parents can still result in good kids but the headache of parents that interject themselves is just not a headache a respectable program wants ...Lavar Ball anyone ?

I just spent the last three hours ready every responsive pleading in the case to date ....I think the information is extremely telling and this process is going to define a lot of future cases

Not sure if hopf is eligible yet for barr Reeve but are you planning to catch the end of that tournament ? Hopf brown and Montgomery make it a bargain ticket ...thanks for posting the game summaries as they are hard to come by as far north as I am. I’ll be interested in following his last two years.

I have a difficult time coming up with something more frustrating than our recent run of teams that lack dependable knock down shooters which were always a staple and foundation of our program
