I have a new respect for southern Indiana basketball after attending the north Daviess tournament ...you had some unbelievable completion within an hour of your school

About as bad as I’ve seen him play ...other than first five minutes Stroble played decent so he should have had an easier time ...I was in and out with an uncooperative 4 year old but I counted 31 ...well below his average on assists and the most turnovers I’ve seen him have ...also missed the front end of a 1 and 1 ...Blackford had it down to 11 in 4th took our starters with 2 minutes left and ole missed scored 6-8 in 20 seconds ended up a little over 20 and gives miss the inside track to the cic title

I didn’t get to see it but that’s what I had heard and also that norwell was exceptional. Not sure Blackford can keep up but should be a fun game regardless and that sometimes brings the best out in brown

Anyone going to mississinewa Blackford tonight ? Ole miss is 18th in 3A and Blackford is top 10 in 2A should be a solid game and should also require a big game from brown for the bruins to have a chance

No joke...I’ve read this entire thread ..and that may be the most well put together and on topic post I’ve seen in here ...you sir are 100% correct. Blackford would need to advance to at least the championship game of sections ( not receiving a bye) and would need to advance to regional championship the following year for it to even be possible let alone plausible. He’s under 35 a game this year not only due to SOME added balance ( I hesitate to use the term because it’s only a slight improvement ) but also because he’s taking more control of the game and sometimes even forcing distribution in an effort to try and keep kids confidence and engagement up. I think next year with Stroble gone you’ll see another uptick in his scoring though possibly to the 35-36 range. Blackford has only one team that can stay with them in sectional and thats Tipton ...if they draw them first and lose this year that will pretty much put it to bed but Tipton loses its leading scorer and best player next year so I think Blackford absent injury wins for sure next year if not this year also ...their regional they can compete as they are in the lapel regional and avoid shanandoah black hawk and linton all of whom would beat them. it will take perfect health and some good luck to have a shot but they did get placed in a favorable sectional and regional situation

That is actually really great unique perspective and congrats on being part of one of the country’s premier soccer programs ...walking on at Indiana probably meant you turned down free rides at almost anywhere you wanted

I think iu was his dream school and he would have taken any chance to play ...but as he has improved and as I’ve seen how competitive he is ...I’m not so sure how it would pan out anymore ...I think it depends on if any other offers come in with playing time promises attached at an early age which some of the MAC schools may have already done

I could totally see that and I’d be happy for him if he got that kinda outcome

I agree in part and respectfully disagree in part . 1. He does need to get bigger but I’m confident he will he’s added 20 pounds in the last 18 months and I would guess he will graduate 175 or north with the ability to get closer to 200 by the time he’s an upperclassman ....if he can maintain his quickness beteeen 175 and 200 I think it will lessen any defensive disadvantage he faces 2. If he gets a power 6 offer with an indication he may not play for a couple years I may agree it would be better to go to an Akron or a Kent stat where he can contend to make the tourney if they let him play right away and then rely on being a two year grad transfer as far as the shooting / scoring ....you won’t find anyone that won’t give him an elite shooting grade , but it’s not even close to the best part of his game....it’s his court iq vision and passing that sets him apart ...he lead the state in scoring last year and is number Two currently but he leads the state in assists by more than a full assist per game on a team that doesn’t always make their open shots

That’s a fair question I’d be interested in that answer too but don’t tell me till brown commits somewhere so I don’t purposely try to break it

It’s definitely extremely polarizing I have found over the last year or so ...furst and lander are by and large considered to be “sure things” by most. Even if you have any critique I think the basement for either one is solid D1 starter and the ceiling goes pretty high ....brown is way more debatable with his size ...you’ll have some say he’s a power 6 starter and some say he will struggle playing D3 or naia....have you gotten to see him play at all ? Have a take ?

Some of that MAY Be my fault since I tend to answer everyone with similar sentiment BUT ...if we had the space available I think he would be the prefect sleeper pick for us depending on how the class shakes out ...have you gotten to see him play before ?

And at least we have energy and look alive today on defense !!!!!! Would be a huge win

....is anyone going to Blackford Madison grant tonight ? Mg has Two solid juniors and they had a testy game last year , could be a fun one

Make that 11-53 over 3 game span which would have been our third straight loss if not for TJD and northwestern injury problems. Now 30 assists in last 3 games and al Durham had 4 of those 3 against northwestern. Guard play is not only not improving ... it appears to be getting worse.

Only midway through the junior campaign no less

Thank you for touching on this I wasn’t aware that it had been made public and was hesitant to share it without knowing that fact. He has been ill for several weeks ( likely with pneumonia ) and had wanted to tough it out to stay with the team rather than seek care. I truly hope he is ok. Not many characters left like him.

He is an absolute stud ....I didn’t think their team would be able to hang with barr Reeve ....he had one other kid on his team , a senior , that was pretty tough that I liked but past that they weren’t super deep

Oh and if you read the review panel transcript and subsequent order that were filed into the civil suit the mom seems even worse than summarized by the paper and the dad seems just as bad

At the tournament they all interacted like they were a solid unit and the coaches seemed to want him there. If they win the state title this year they have knepp and graeber back and better next year with hopf to replace O’Neil and they would own 1A or if they get bumped they could compete in 2A....I wouldn’t want a parent like that but the set up is favorable to have him next year

Yes he isn’t as filled out but he definitely is longer I got to see Two of their games and he was clearly the tallest kid in the gym

Well I’m a big believer in small schools in southern Indiana now ....kids seem to have a different work mentality there
