I wouldn’t say any of this is wrong ...snow finally gave him some attention this fall after Charlie Hughes shootout ....I hope the best for him as well wherever that is also great reference I was at that game ! Saw Kline Randolph and oak hills odle many times while at Blackford ! -

Ok I’m as big a fan of the kid as you’ll find ...and I actually think you’re both totally correct : 1. I think the comparison to the kids listed who are scoring higher than brown is skewed because it includes home school and Christian league performances ( yes I realize criticizing completion level when Luke plays for Blackford is casting stones in a glass house lol) but you guys know I’ve taken the time to watch videos of many of the kids on that list and it’s not close ...if you put luke in the same league as the murr kid luke could score 60 per game ...2A Indiana basketball is as or more competive and skilled than many states bigger programs 2. I think you actually both agree on the aau scenario and just don’t realize ...the point is like could show a lot this summer and still get his power 6 offers or he could not show up well and go to an Akron or a Kent state and either A) make the tourney be a big success and make us regret it or b) just have a so so campaign in which case the detractors can say I told you so and the kid gets a free education ...it will be fun to watch either way 3. with regards to colson Montgomery ...he is the first topic other than Luke I’ve posted on as a member of this board ...he’s a solid player and I’ve now seen three of his games including the one against Blackford ...I think he’ll be a pro ball player and most basketball attention is as an acquiesced “ helping hand” to each schools baseball program because he wants to be a two sport athlete and he’s THAT good at baseball .....that being said even if he’s not big ten caliber he’s solid and he’s got pro level athleticism and he’s at least 4 if not 5 inches taller than brown ...that game specifically was as the most impressive performance I’ve ever seen Luke have because he played solid defense on Montgomery and he was his exclusive assignment for 80% of the game ...if you have a free minute go watch the game on bruinsportsnetwork on YouTube ...I didn’t think he had that in him but he showed me something new even having seen him play over 50 times. Effort And dedication goes a long way -

I’m on the same page here ...” fringe guys “ not only have hurt us they have also built a lot of success for the butler program so I’ve seen it help AND hurt .....I think fringe guys have a common characteristic ( chip on shoulder / hard workers ) typically ....things like shooting and ball handling can constantly be improved and those are the types that tend to excel in the areas that can be improved on and right now it is one of our teams biggest weaknesses ...if brown is too small for defense I don’t want him embarrassed nor iu to waste a spot but if he proves capable he can definitely help in those areas -

I think this is also fair because if I hadn’t spent as much time watching him as I have ...and if I hadn’t been able to personally witness his worth ethic and character ...I likely wouldn’t be pushing for him and I may , in fact , have some of the critiques that many of the people who haven’t seen him play have -

He played in every game on their schedule except the end so I mean technically this post is accurate ...also his usage was higher while Kaufman was hurt -

I share this outlook ...I think his offensive game transfers well and I also think his 40% 3pt percentage is deceiving because he will maybe get 5 or 6 open threes per year and I’m not exaggerating that number...every one he takes is off the dribble or a step back so if he wasn’t the focal point I think his percentages would be even better -

I think that’s fair but I also think there was a domino effect because they said they hadn’t been approached by half those schools nor noticed any of them at the other tourneys so a couple of those may have been retaliation type offers ....I agree with you I wouldn’t offer a kid I hadn’t seen live many times -

Thanks for the lander info I had heard something similar but wasn’t ever given a confirmation ....and you’re correct there are probably six stories ...I’m not so naive to think that the one I got is automatically accurate in fact the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle ....you know I’m a big supporter but the majority of the mac offers actually came after the NCAA invite program in Illinois where he performed really welll but not with IE it was like a separate event from what I understand -

I think he’s big ten caliber ( northwestern or Iowa maybe ) but maybe not a good fit for iu’s scheme or current roster ...brown is listed 6’2 but I actually think he’s closer to 6’ than 6’2 ...no idea on whether or not McIntosh is the same way -

No he played Indiana elite platinum the whole season and during a tournament towards the end of the year he didn’t get the time that had been discussed ...my understanding is his dad asked if they wanted to move a different direction and they told him no and as a way to appease the disagreement they offered to pay to send him to the 2020 gold team tournament in California so my understanding is he played up a grade for that tourney but down a competition level from platinum to gold and I do think he scored well in that tourney but I have no clue who he played against ...IE , rather maddeningly didn’t keep stats which drives me nuts and those games weren’t on live feed so I don’t know if he played against anyone committed anywhere. I know during the platinum season with 2021 he played top level players ( with and against ) I got to watch one day live and then their Texas tourney was live feed ...He lead the platinum team in assists and scored moderately and with the 2021 gold I know nothing about the kids he played with except the gizzi boy from new pal....that’s my understanding If it helps at all -

That’s fair ...the transfer portal is more interesting than ever ...I just think if it’s a transfer or a project player the most important thing is fit/ iq /team player ....right now we aren’t hitting the right combinations even if we find talented kids -

I agree there is a far cry from the best 4A schools in terms of athletic competition but some things do translate ...when you score at the rate he does shooting the percentages he does guarded by 2-3 guys all game every game it bridges some of that gap ...I think he has the best of both worlds with what he can do during school then playing the big boys in the summer -

I agree it would be a flyer and I see what you mean about 2020 but I think the right formula is 10 four year players on roster at all time and literally 1-3 one or two year players IF they are team oriented recruits ...If you go outside that formula you need at least 3 one year players per class and we aren’t willing to cheat enough to be the duke or Kentucky competition and it doesn’t always work for them even when they pull those Heralded classes ...he may just not fit with iu but I still think he could help -

Agree with everything except the summer part ...he was on the top team in his age group on the adidas gauntlet in the entire state ...played with Kaufman ( iu offer ) koncizeny ( I spelled that wrong and am too lazy to look it up but he’s a Notre dame commit ) and hopf who isnt a slouch and I think I remember seeing Keon Thompson on their roster the game I attended and he’s second in the state in scoring ...I’ll be curious to see what they do with lander this summer since he played up a grade last year -

That’s always been and always will be the knock ...zero contact as of last week and if any comes I wouldn’t expect it to be this summer ...the kid plays iu recruits or iu level recruits all summer and has success so I think size is the main factor ( height specifically ) -

Both ...they tripled brown and forced the ball out of his hands and the refs were allowing a lot of hand and body contact so the other kids were turning it over and when they did break it rather than getting in a set and chewing clock they inexplicably went to the bucket with sparks underneath and had 4 or 5 consecutive blocked lay up attempts at the rim that led to transition buckets ...I was baffled at the fact it wasn’t corrected from the bench -

He scored in the 20’s before fouling out but his biggest impact was blocking shots ...during the 4th quarter 36-12 outburst everytime Blackford broke the press they had a kid try to get a lay up and no joke he blocked a shot on 4 or 5 consecutive possessions and they all lead to transition buckets ...they had a little sophomore guard who scored 35 from hitting open outside shots -

All I can say after a week where butler lost twice and Blackford lost twice ...including giving up a 24 point lead going into the 4th quarter ....is that IU winning today and doing so with their guards not shooting well at all but still generating 21 assists to only 16 turnovers is all that kept me from jumping off a tall building ps coaching makes a difference because I’ve never see such poor handling of that 4th quarter by the Blackford bench with their head coach still not recovered from pneumonia -

Blackford has never won a regional and hasn’t won a sectional since the 90’s lol ...I don’t expect them at their current pace to do much but they could be competitive in their sectional and regional groupings if they shoot well -
