Don’t misunderstand me, I’m stoked about TJD coming to IU, I just hope his calm demeanor isn’t Romeo-esque too much. There were times I wondered if that dude was a droid. Some real dunking power around the rim is sorely needed so I can’t wait to see how his presence translates to the B1G. Stoic demeanor and vicious dunks will be ok with me. So this IS NOT me speculating that Romeo is returning, it’s just a general question about a situation that I could see take place. But.... How does this new NBA rule interface with the student athlete bill of rights at IU? Random example and definitely not trying g to start a discussion about TJD’s NBA readiness, but let’s say he comes in and averages 12 points and 6-7 rebounds. He decides to test the waters and secured and agent, goes into the draft and doesn’t get selected? Does IU have to honor his scholarship at that point? Before the conversation spins out of control, which inevitable on this board, I know he is a 5* and I know the NBA drafts on potential. I know someday he will be in the league. I’m hoping UVA’s defense is more disciplined than Tenn’s was. I know they were trying to get up in the shooters’ faces, but I saw more than a few times when the bigs would cheat up to help on screens and Edwards, Cline or Eifert would hit Haarms streaking toward the rim for a dunk. I will say I saw it in one game ( can’t remember which one but it was in the midst of our doldrums) when I saw some of this from Al. I think I commented on it in a post too. He got ticked off and his demeanor was palpable. It was great to see, but the problem was the other players wouldn’t let it infect them. He was the only one. That is the problem.
