Didn’t realize Purdue lost a football recruit to IU.

(2019) WR David Bell to Purdue
Stlboiler23 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I didn’t get to unfortunately but heard about how well he played. Switched cable and it didn’t get installed until this morning. Brohm was there watching which was nice and it didn’t count as a visit since his dad coaches for Trinity. -

No doubt. The guy is a stud. -

I think it’s between Penn State, Purdue, and Ohio State. Seems like the recent chatter has been more on Penn State/Purdue even before the stuff with Urban went down. -
(2019) SG Brandon Newman to Purdue

They’ll have a shot. Newman and Franklin will be on campus next weekend in addition to Isaiah Thompson and Mason Gillis. -
Hopefully they don’t.

When do you see him leaving?
-
Yeah I could see 4-5 wins because the schedule is much tougher this year. Will be interesting to see what happens.
-
I thought it was 8 more commitments? With the spots you still have open, who are some guys you could see joining the fold? For Purdue, any guys they get would likely increase their ranking because the caliber of guys they have a legit shot at (Bell, Milton Wright, Cameron Williams, Jalen Graham, etc) all have a rivals ranking of 5.6 or higher which would bump some of the lower commits off of that ranking. Wouldn’t Purdue’s score be higher even if IU had the same number of commitments since Purdue has 4 4* guys?

$3.9 million. Was $3.5 million before the extension. What is Allen’s budget for assistants?
-
I don’t think he’d up and leave for any gig though. It’d have to be a blue blood I bet.
-
Not sure why people keep assuming that he’ll leave. He has a really good thing going at Purdue and can win a lot of games there. But yeah this class is unreal so far and can even improve as there are some highly-ranked guys that Purdue can still land.

(2019) SF - Mason Gillis to PU

Hunter and Gillis aren’t ranked too much differently than Anderson and Phinisee. I agree with you re Romeo but the other guys are comparable when it comes to rankings. -
2019 DT C.J .Person to IU

Maybe it’s the other way around? Who knows haha -
(2019) LB Jack Kiser to Notre Dame

I am too. Play for Kelly over Brohm? No thanks haha. -

Only explanation is that I tip my cap to ND. They’re hard to say no to unfortunately. -
QB Hunter Johnson - Northwestern
Stlboiler23 replied to KDB's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I don’t think he was a guarantee to be the starter with a RS-Senior Sindelar still there. I think he might have played some but don’t think it was a sure thing he’d beat out Sindelar. -

I think the depth chart at NW helped here. He would’ve had to wait two years to start at Purdue. -
(2019) DE Beau Robbins to IU
Stlboiler23 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Not all of it. But I think there’s a good chance that Purdue lands a good number of the top guys. -

Who’s the OL from up north? I think it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of this in-state class shakes out. As of now, I’d guess Kirtz goes to NW (unless Purdue lands Hunter Johnson which could sway his decision), Cameron Williams I think ends up at Purdue, Young at Purdue unless OSU really pushes for him, and Kiser I think is a toss up. A lot of people think ND but he has deep family ties to Purdue (his dad and uncles were athletes at Purdue) so I could see him ending up at Purdue. Justin Britt seems to be Iowa or Purdue right now. Larry Tracy not sure on that one and David Bell it'll be interesting to see what he does. I like Purdue’s chances there. -

Solid pickup for you guys. -

Like two weeks ago. He’s at Western Michigan now. -

Alstott transferred and I don’t think Sipe will ever play meaningful minutes. A senior Sindelar will be good and I like Plummer a lot. Will be interesting to see what Hunter does. -
Curious why you think IU will land more of those guys than Purdue? I’d say the exact opposite. Youve landed 8 4* guys over that period with the majority (6) coming in the 2013 and 2014 classes. You’ve only had one 4* guy (according to rivals) since then in Penix.

Just the caliber of player that we’ve signed and are legit looking at Purdue. The football complex has been huge for recruiting. A lot of guys had multiple P5 offers. Not sure why you’re quoting the 2019 class since it’s a work in progress. The caliber/level of talent guys that are legit interested in Purdue is much higher than it’s been before. Guys like David Bell, Bryce Kirtz, Jirehl Brock, Craig Young, Justin Britt, J.J. Weaver, Marvin Grant, Isaiah Gibson, and Milton Wright didn’t give us the time of day before and we have a chance to land several of those guys. I think this could be a top 35 class for Purdue. Edit: Purdue landed a 4* receiver from Ohio tonight so that’s now 2 4* guys so far in this class. Off to a solid start.
