People have been tossing around 20ppg and I've been a bit skeptical... I didn't imagine Romeo might threaten Eric Gordon's freshman scoring record but I'd love to be wrong
-
Has anyone on Twitter confirmed the score?

Friday's game is crucial for this team as our chances of earning a bowl berth are now on the wrong side of 50%. Penix showed off much firmer passes against PSU, but unfortunately left the game with an injury. What I'd really like is if Ramsey led the team to a win in Minneapolis and Penix reurned against Maryland but we'll see. I thought our defense largely stabilized against Penn State and if we can replicate that against Minnesota's offense we should give ourselves a great shot to win.

Awful why are we blitzing there? -

We've got to figure something out defensively, outside of the one stop we have barely slowed them down without some help from them -

Our pass rush is non existent -

That's definitely not true. We finished the season ranked 26th in defense and we led the nation in getting teams off the field on third down iirc. We're really young this year, with 55 freshmen on the roster, but should look better on that side of the ball next year. The only really awful part of our defense this year is the pass rush but that has impacted a lot of other areas -

Ramsey seems to make up his mind before he reads the defense on these deep routes, he tried to throw to a triple covered receiver earlier and Westbrook was double covered there... -

Nice, a break. And let's see how Purdue plays the rest of the season before we predict how that game will go -

For as much as people trash ESPN's coverage, their live broadcasts whip the hell out of Fox/FS1/BTN coverage in pretty much every way Not that that means ESPN is good lol -

I hope conservatively, we don't have much at QB behind him. I'd like to see him used next year like Penn State uses Tommy Stevens, as a running and passing threat in the backfield that can also be a decoy, but we might see some of that before this season ends. We really need to pick up this win and get to a bowl this season, 3 bowl berths and 1 bowl win would actually match the best streaks we've had in program history which isn't great but I do think it would represent real progress. -
Reese is going to have an awesome career here. I hope we don't need him this year at QB but I think he'll feature in the backfield more in packages next year. Hopefully kind of like PSU uses Stevens with a hair more passing.

That's true, those statements were made before the surgery so he had no real insight at that point

It doesn't look like we're targeting a QB per 247 but they're not going to be totally accurate all the time for every school On the plus side Allen seems to think that we could get Penix back for 7 on 7s in the spring and have him ready to go by the time practice really gets going so he actually may not miss time. If he heals well and can manage that we'd be in good shape. I don't think Ramsey is the QB that can take us to a ten win season if everything clicks but I do think he might be good enough to lead us to a bowl this year. I feel hopeful every week - hard to be an IU fan if you can't manage that - but the game at Minnesota is a winnable one. It'll be a big test for Ramsey and our offense.

(2019) DB Tiawan Mullen to IU

Not the best weekend but at least the defense played well I'm sure he saw where he might contribute early on special teams -
(2019) RB Sampson James to Indiana

We need to make running the ball our identity with the stable of backs we'll have next year. Scott and Walker Jr as sophomores and this kid... lots of powder in the keg... -
This is a really tough break for Penix and IU football. Penix might be able to return for the regular season next year but he'll almost certainly miss spring football which would've been big for him in building towards his sophomore year. This sucks for Penix so bad, hope he fully recovers

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

Don't pull the alumnus card like you're the only person that attended. Indiana has one of the largest alumni bases of any university, it's not a monoculture. If you think there's only one way of thinking within the fanbase you're the one that has no idea where you are but we can certainly disagree on whether freshmen talented enough to lead the conference in rebounding are good or not. Vonleh is still an NBA player which if you didn't know is a league with only 450 players. He may not be one of the best players in that league but you have to be really, really good to play in the NBA. -
Depending on the level of prospect, the $125k for the G League year will be trivial because they'll be good enough to earn a big endorsement from one or more companies in that year to lock them up long term. If you recall, LeBron James signed a $100M Nike deal before he played a single NBA game. Under this structure, a player that good could sign one or more endorsement deals in the tens of millions of dollars before they're eligible for the NBA Draft. For any player talented enough to get that kind of consideration, I don't think the year of marketing would be a big deal. And maybe some marginal players could earn say a $1M shoe deal for five years if they're good enough to get one of these deals, which is a hedge that ends up being a big win for the shoe company if the player ends up being a Donovan Mitchell or a Devin Booker by the end of that term. I think that's the big part of this that people aren't fully considering, but we'll see what develops. There isn't a next LeBron on the horizon, even Bagley wouldn't have earned a $1M endorsement in such a G League structure I don't think but this could get the attention of marketers looking for deals.

Thank you. Plenty of the guys UK has gotten have been pretty stand up guys as collegiates and pros as far as anyone can tell and I maintain that the only reason people continually diss on Vonleh is because there wasn't a good enough team around him. Gordon was here for one year and you don't hear the same sentiments even though that year ended poorly. As long as the kids are good kids, I'd love to have them on the team and I think the fanbase would adjust really quickly if that was a route that led to 30 win seasons. Some of the posts here could be Krzyzewski quotes from 5 or 6 years ago. -
Updated Win Probability by S&P+ (through Week 8)
Aeggie replied to Aeggie's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
S&P+ is 57% against the spread on the year so you can do it but it wouldn't be a winning play -
If we can beat Minnesota I think we'll draw a nice crowd for the Maryland game. If we can't, he'll continue to be disappointed unfortunately. Hopefully Penix is okay and can appear in one of the next two games.
