For those wondering why Indiana would turn down the CBI...
Buck Naked replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
It's a lose-lose situation really if IU were to play. If they lose people would say "I can't believe IU lost in the CBI" and if they win people would say "big deal, IU SHOULD win the CBI". Nothing gained at all by playing except a game or 2 of experience and maybe a couple bucks if they get some home games. -
Don't look at it as missing out in the NCAA/NIT. Look at it as a chance to play for the chance to say. "We're #101!!" Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

With all due respect, let's not start a CBI selection thread. :) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Those first couple years those weren't necessarily his players. Now we are starting to see who he wants. That is the difference for me.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Agreed, that's why in another thread that Crean needs 2-3 more years to prove either he can or can't recruit/develop. I am consistent. If I can't judge a freshman after his first year I can't judge a coach that started 3 freshman all year and lost 85% of his offense and 2 NBA players after 1 year.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

There is a documentary on HBO about these services and a guy who runs one actually said they change the class rankings because if they kept them the same all the time no one would buy their mag or check their site. Wish I could think if the name of the show but very enlightening on the recruiting process.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I believe you can. If can get credit for Vic and Will, finding them and them not being rated then he must take the blame for The Movement. It's all the same, rating talent. I think he deserves more time but if he is recruiting by using those services then he is an idiot and should be fired immediately! Everyone listen close, RECRUITING SITES AND MAGAZINES ARE FRAUDS. They are all about making money. They rank kids by who is recruiting them, not by their talent. They change rankings so you have to buy their mags or check their sites all year. DO NOT judge your coach or your recruiting class by these. Judge them on how they develop.

Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

One year could be a fluke. Three is a trend.... I have always believe you can't judge a coach until he establishes his style. I believe it takes 5 years to get the right recruits to run your system. I give Crean a pass until the UK game. He was rebuilding. A lot of those recruits were but weren't his. Now, they are all his. So, I give him 2 more years. Same ol' same ol', need to start to look elsewhere. Two words of thought about firing a coach: Firing a coach early in his tenure at your school shows a lack of stability. This can be use in negative recruiting. Second , if you fire your coach, you better darn well know the next one can be better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

My two cents: If you are to by new equipment, I would go to a manufacturers trail day at a golf course. My daughter lettered 4 years in HS and when we bought her "good" equipment that's what we did. We bought her first driver at a store with a n indoor cage to try it out. It looked good on their computer but on the course it had a wicked slice. Went to a trial day and talked to the reps from several club makers and finally found a driver she could hit. (And she could just kill it. Like a bb!) I was amazed and how much difference there was between how she hit the different manufacturers. We did the same with her irons. This dropped her score ten strokes. (FYI- it was a Callaway driver and Ping irons) As far as balls, I've talked to reps, college coaches and club pros, for weekend players , you don't need the $40 an dozen balls. My daughter played the two piece Srixon ball. They played great. I began using them. >Btw- after 7-8 years of the youth golf circuit, I hate the game and so does daughter. This is why I never pushed my son into AAU basketball. :) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Indiana @ Michigan Post Game Thread
Buck Naked replied to HoosierReb01's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Jeremy was sat down last year because of a question about someone in his family in possible contact with an agent. Jeremy seemed different after the failed PG experiment this year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

The Will Sheehey Appreciation Thread - #IUBBSeniorNight
Buck Naked replied to BtownBanners's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This maybe be stupid but my all time favorite Sheehey moment is the time Will shaved his head because Crean said he couldn't wear a head band to keep the sweat out of his eyes. He saw a problem and fixed it the only way he knew how. Shows his personality. Gonna miss Will. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
You said this week which is why I said 2. That's not true in the least bit. By your logic if he was such a good coach like you say so we wouldn't have lost the games we did to the teams we did nor get killed by Purdue. I can use your logic too. :) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
Your right. My bad. I suck. He sucks. We all suck. Aw come on man, it's only money. Get a Les Paul and have some fun! Like the man said "It's all gone when your dead, you don't take nothing with you but your soul. Think!" My first guitar was a Memphis Les Paul copy. I don't even know if they make them anymore. I washed dishes at a restarunt weekends to buy it . Hunk of crap, but did the job. Then I bought a Charvel, Japan built. Loved the body type. Gave it away, wished I kept it. I don't do the motorcycle thing. Don't have a fancy car. Don't have an expensive vice. I look at guitars at art almost. The different sounds, the different looks. I get addicted. I told my kids before they started taking lessons, you know they can tell me I can't play ball anymore, they fire me from my job, but they can't tell me I can't play my guitars. It's mine and no one can take it away.

It was but it wasn't. I don't know about your Squier but when I stripped mine down I found out it was basically two pieces of plywood stuck together, i.e. CHEAP body. So, sound wise, you will always lose something even if you switch out the pick ups. The one I did put in does sound better, but it was a cheaper pickup, $35. (BTW- I do recommend Guitar Fetish, cheap prices and good customer service. My pickup sound like advertised, kind of the brown sound I was looking for) As for the difficulty, the thing I had problems with was work space under the pickguard. Seemed like there was a lot of wiring and shielding under the pickguard. Hated separating the pickguard so the room was minimal. You don't have to be an expert. The pickup I bought had the wiring diagram with it and there are plenty of web sites with info. All in all, I'm glad I did it as a fun project. Almost bought a kit and still might if I decide to try Franke 3.0, but like I said, I wouldn't throw a $200 or so pickup in it because I don't think you would get a $200 boost in sound. But do post some pics of the finished project. Did you use a flat paint or glossy? Curious about the look your going for. Love the look of those flat painted guitars.

I am partial to the maple neck look but I do dig the black headstock with that rosewood neck. And American Fender with humbuckers would be cool.

Awesome topic. I could talk guitar all day! (sorry for the dupe thread) No bass doesn't count!! Just kidding. A friend of mine played bass and as we would practice I would slowly turn the bass down in the mix to make him mad. Actually, last gig I played about 15 yrs ago I played bass. I've been playing going on 30 years I guess. (Holy crap I'm old) Took lessons for a while, but got bored. Self taught after that thanks to Guitar for the Practicing Musician magazine. Definitely a hobby, but I get addicted. Now a picture of a couple of my kids: On the right, you see my newest addition, the EVH Striped Series Bumblebee. On the left, is my proudest possession. I call it my Frankensquier. I found a Fender Squier at a pawn shop for $100 and did a refurb on it. Stripped it down, repainted and replaced the pickup with the VEH pickup from GuitarFettish which mocks the Gibson PAF Eddie Van Halen had in his Frankenstrat. I also have a '97 Fender American Standard and a Martin DX1AE accoustic. As far as an amp, you'll laugh, but I play thru a 25 yr. old Marshall Micro Stack. No reverb but the sound is great otherwise. By the pics, I'm sure you can figure out my favorite guitarist, Edward Van Halen, I like and respect tons of others. SRV, Clapton, Frampton, Johnson and others I can't think of right now.
