I'd be surprised if he doesn't announce by the end of the week. I think he will hire an agent too. -

Had Nick's last Tuesday. It is always a must in Bloomington. One year on Spring Break I want to drive up there and watch IU play in the NCAA Tournament in the Hoosier Room..one day....sigh.... -
2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

The best one ever was when PTI did one in 2007 where they said Rick Pitino was going back to UK. Another one was when Indiana said they were going to hire Tom Crean on April 1, 2008..oh wait.... -
2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

I can't blame Smith if he goes. I just hope Damezi and Jake stay for another year. I totally get a kid wanting more playing time though. -
2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

I hate to see a freshman leave. I feel Damezi's strengths are what this team needs. With that being said I can't say I'm shocked. -
I'm curious what would happen with Keion if Cal leaves.
-
The thing is these kids Cal is getting shouldn't be one and dones. Herro, Hagans, and Johnson would improve as a player by staying one more year. I can't see any of them starting in the NBA next year. However, Cal brings in players for their spots meaning they won't get as much playing time. It just doesn't work. Would I take 4 final fours and 1 title from Archie Miller in ten years? YES!!!! But, if you told me he had that much talent I wouldn't be as happy. Like the 1990s Braves or the Colts with Manning.
-
I think, and I guess this is bold, he is gone. UCLA or the Lakers. $$$$ talks. I think the majority of UK fans are tired of him. With the one and done era ending soon he doesn't have much to stand on. At UK you have to win titles. Very similar to IU. With all that talent one title isn't going to cut it. IMO, his 2015 loss to Wisconsin in the Final Four was similar to Creans 2013 loss to Syracuse. Fans haven't forgiven him over it. They have also had an "easy" path the last two years and still couldn't make the Final Four. 2017 buzzer beater to UNC and 2016 loss to IU.
-
Really excited for this Final Four. I don't care about the "ratings" but you have three teams who have never won it and the other hasn't since 2000. Also, all four of these teams have had their ups and downs recently. Virginia-lost to a 16 seed last year and missed on the Final Four as a top seed a few times in the last few years. Michigan State- three straight years of getting eliminated during the first weekend (upset in 2016 and 2018). Texas Tech and Auburn- hardly had any success before Beard and Pearl. I think the one and done era ended today. It just doesn't work. Each of these teams have kids who played in college 2-3 years. That is what is going to win. That is why I hope Archie can develop Rob, Al, Jerome, TJD, Armaan, and other players.

Indiana has won two titles and have been to four final fours since Purdue last went to one :)

2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

Wish Clifton nothing but the best! Not really surprised-hasn't seen the floor much and it didn't look too promising for him. So Morgan, Fitzner, and Moore are gone. It seems likely Romeo is going pro. I think there is one more transfer (Smith, Anderson, and Forrester in the order of most likely). Surprised of all the Brunk chatter but I will take him! Talented player...TJD and De'Ron will log a lot of minutes. Race will too if he is healthy. Need a shooter and I will be very very happy. I just hope the guys have a 2011 like offseason and get tired of losing because I know us fans are!!! -
USI lost to Point Loma last night 81-71. Another great crowd in Evansville. Felt like the 2002 IU run. It was so much fun. Hope the Hoosiers can do that again one day.
-
I know it is D2 but Southern Indiana, team IU played in the preseason, is in the Final Four in Evansville. They beat West Texas A&M last night and play Point Loma tonight. 7,000 plus last night. Pretty cool story!

The Season Is Finally Over, Now Where Does This Program Go?
HoosierFan1994 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Then those players need to go. Chris, do you have any guesses on who might be out? I think we all can agree on this-we want players here who want to be here and want to be coached. -

Is it just me or do they look way too happy after their season just ended? -

My expectations this year was a top 5 Big Ten finish and an NCAA Tournament win in the first round. Obviously that didn't happen. I still felt this team had the talent to do that. Yes, injuries to Jerome, Race, and Rob among others hurt. I still think there was a chemistry issue. Was it Romeo and all the hype? Was it leadership? Who knows, but Archie is feeling pressure now to win. Year 1 was a pass. This year not so much. They run no offense. They have to get three point shooters in next year or it will be even worse than this season. Juwan was a good Hoosier, McRoberts was a shell of himself this year but he gave us good minutes in previous seasons. Fitzner seems like a good person, just didn't work out here. Romeo is probably going pro. Yes-Indiana is better with him. He didn't live up to the hype but I think he will be a great ambassador for IU and hope he does well in the NBA. I expect two transfers. I think Moore is one of them. You think he would want to play somewhere else and get more playing time. I don't think Justin Smith fits at all here. Would not be surprised to see him go. I think Devonte's surge is going to keep him here. I hope Jake and Damezi stay for one more year to improve. Here is my line up for next year based on who we have/who is coming in: Rob- Needs to develop a shot. Will be one of the best PG in the B1G and soon the country. We are lucky to have him. Could be All-Big Ten good next year. Al- Hope he makes a jump like he did this year. If Al is our 3rd/4th best player we may have a good time. Devonte- Does not need to handle the ball. Needs to be more consistent. Jerome- I have to think he would have started this year had he stayed healthy. He can play 2-4. Really think he can be an All-Big Ten player. Just hope he is good to go next year....if he was cleared I would feel much better. TJD- I don't expect a Zeller like impact, more like Thomas Bryant. I think he could be Big Ten FOY and soon All-Big Ten. Really like TJD. Interested to see him put on muscle and develop a shot. Armaan, De'Ron, and Race are your players off the bench. I think Archie prefers to play 8 guys at all times. This lineup is probably at best an 8-9 seed in the tournament. The Big Ten is going to be tough next year. Michigan and Michigan State are going to be title contenders. I think Ohio State is going to get a huge boost with their class coming in. Iowa and Minnesota will be decent. You can't count out Purdue and Illinois either. I hope Archie can pull together a shooter and a wing between now and the end of the season. It can be Watford, a grad transfer, JUCO-whoever. He still needs to upgrade this roster. Here is to next year! -

Give me #6 Buffalo tomorrow -
They should be able to make it to the second weekend without him. However, if he is out for the tournament that is huge. Can't seem them in the Final Four without him.
-
Not that this means anything, but it popped up on my twitter timeline that Derek Elston liked his tweet. Take it for what it means. Just random he is interacting with him. Also, De'Ron had some nasty stuff that he has liked before..lol

I didn't want to be a chicken sh!t and take a one or a two seed just yet... Thursday-Villanova -
Really like your post. Kansas State is toast without Wade. I know they won without him last year but UC Irvine is a bad matchup. Kansas could be dangerous if they make it to Kansas City but I don't see that either. I like Vermont too but Florida State is deep and has a nice frontcourt. I'm from Evansville so seeing the Duncan brothers make it far would be cool. Florida State could make it to the final four-Gonzaga has a tough battle with Syracuse. LSU reminds me of IU in 2008. Just too big of a dark cloud. I think LSU has the talent to make it to the round of 32. But Maryland/Belmont/Temple will beat them. I too see a lot of chalk. Look back at the '07-'09 Elite 8 and Final Fours. Lots of 1,2,and 3 seeds. BTW-a WTF fact about Duke...they have only won in Minneapolis and Indianapolis. 3 in Indy, 2 in Minny. Guess where the Final Four is this year...
-
I could see all of those happening. Nevada didn't live up to the hype. Florida could take care of them, if not Michigan will. Tennessee is iffy. I think they make it to the Elite 8 but that Cincy game could scare them. This same team lost to Loyola last year. Auburn is playing really well and I think has a legit shot at the final four. Oregon could knock off Wisconsin easily. If not for a Bol Bol injury Oregon would be a top 16 team. I think Wisconsin will not make it to the Sweet 16.
-
I actually have UC Irvine in the Sweet 16. Huge loss to Kansas State with Wade being doubtful. All they have to do is focus on Brown. Same with Wisconsin in the round of 32. Slow Happ down and they have nothing. Looks like UC-Irvine is a run and gun team who plays decent defense. They have won a lot of games in a row (builds confidence). Don't know if they have the horses to beat Virginia. I took Kansas over Northeastern. They are still talented and have some motivation to play home games in the Sweet 16.
