If this goes into next week they are getting someone good I think. -

My only argument with this is I feel they would’ve been hired by now. We will see what happens. -

Has he said that since last Friday? I honestly have zero clue Who at this point it will be. It’s just odd the Stevens talk went from 100 to 0 all of a sudden. I’m not expecting him at all. -

My thoughts exactly. I won't be thrilled one bit but after the national media guys telling us how great Sampson, Crean, and Miller would be I'll give Mike a chance. He HAS to put together a bad a$$ staff. Miller lied to us. He told us how great his staff would be...lol -

On a somewhat related note Brian Snow is leaving Peegs/247 sports. Interesting since he Dropped some IU info time to time. -

Interesting because all the IU media folks saying that wasn't true. If that is the case and they offered Matta...hmm -

I have to think it is because they can't really talk to them because their season is going on or just ended...just my thoughts. -

I just feel if it's him or Beilein, they would've been hired by now. I said last night but if we get to the weekend with no coach I think our guy is Beard, Musselman, or someone still coaching. Those things take awhile, a week or two. -

I know it's reported that Woodson interviewed for the job, but do you think that was a check the box type? I just don't see how Dolson hires someone who has never coached in college before. He has to get that hire right. It's a gamble. I'll give him a chance, but just seems odds. I still feel his guy is either coaching in the tournament or just finished the tournament. -

This is my thought as well. I'd give Woodson and Cheaney a chance, but eh, I'm not sure. -

Saw this on Peegs but that flight could be related to Pfizer. I highly doubt they announce our new coach the same day the women play in their biggest game in years. But who knows. -

This has been the first search I've followed pretty closely. In 2017 I didn't pay attention as much for some reason. I went back and looked today (on spring break) at the last three searches for IU. I noticed one trend...the guy they hired really wasn't mentioned until the end. In 2006 I think Few, Beilein, Calipari, Alford, and Wittman were mentioned way before Sampson. In 2008 I think it was Tony Bennett until he turned it down. Crean's name popped up out of nowhere the day or two before he was announced. In 2017 Archie's named popped up but many felt it was Alford with Bennett and Billy Donovan as long shots. So honestly who knows. The search is fun, it's exciting but we can't believe anything anyone says. I enjoy discussing candidates and debating their resumes but we can't take every single tweet as the gospel. Even Rabjohns said he has zero clue what;s going on. IF it's Beilein, Woodson, or some assistant like Calbert, I feel either a) they would've already been hired or b) they will be at anytime in the next day or so. If this position is still vacant going into the weekend I feel as if they are talking to Beard or waiting for someone like Musselman, Moser, or Altman to finish the tournament. I find it impossible to believe that someone donated all that money to get Mike Woodson or Calbert Cheaney. -

What are the qualifications to be IU coach
HoosierFan1994 replied to HoosierBoiler's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
1) Proven power 5 winner with tournament success. Indiana has to win period. That's why I don't care if the coach we get is 44 or 68. I want to win. 2) His teams peak in March. I can't remember the last Indiana team who peaked in March. 2002? 3) Personality that is bigger than the program. The program was bigger than Archie Miller. Crean was okay at first but he was weird at the end. 4) A coach that can use the transfer portal. I really think that is an important piece in success in college basketball right now. At least it's trending that way. 5) Able to develop players and get them to buy in the program. I can't stand it when IU loses a freshman or sophomore. Think Remy Abell. Get those players who don't play much as a freshman to buy in and get better. -

Rabjohns didn't say much that we didn't already know. One interesting tidbit was some schools are afraid of getting Chris Beard because Texas may want him. Says Texas would throw money at him. That being said, even he the "IU insider" said he has zero clue on what is going on. So take whatever anyone says with a grain of salt. I truly think nobody knows what is going on behind the scenes. -

I think Woj broke it. There was a lot of smoke that Saturday morning that Indiana was going to make an announcement that day. Just like the Sunday Evening/Monday morning last week regarding Archie. Nobody is going to break it here, but there will be some smoke. -
Purdue, Ohio State, and Louisville are my guesses based off previous offers. What if IU gets a Beard or Beilein? Hard to believe he would leave then.

Billy Donovan was my number 1 lol. I thought it was Alford until he said after UK beat them he wasn't the coach. I knew then IU had their guy. I thought it was Bennett or Miller the morning of. -

Osterman had a good Tweet about the timeline of the last 3 searches. If IU follows the same timeline, I think the earliest we hear something is Thursday (I don't think tomorrow because the Women play). IF it's Beard, it may be longer. Crean and Miller's season ended about a week before they took the IU job. Sampson was about two weeks. -

I went back to their 2017 Hot Board. There were 4 guys in the top 5 the entire time : Steve Alford, Tony Bennett, Chris Collins, and Archie Miller. Miller was #5 on their last hot board before the hire. Maybe it's possible that the chatter stopped because there were ongoing talks. I hope that's the case with Beard. He is #2 on their list. So far Beard and Beilein have been 1/2 the entire time. Woodson has been in the top 5 most of the time as well as Musselman. -
For sure. I don't think anyone knows what is going on behind the scenes.

Question for those who know...can a player still use the facilities at IU if they are in the transfer portal? Obviously its 50/50 if he comes back but I was just curious.
