I've accepted that this program isn't a blueblood anymore. Much like Nebraska football. It is what it is. -

I'm not sure which is worse.. the collapse of the 16-17 team or this one. -

Sad but I didn't watch last night. We had our youth group. A month ago they were playing Nebraska on a Wednesday while I was there. I looked a few times at the score and watched a few minutes on Youtube TV. Last night I went in the car and pulled up ESPN and just saw the score. A buddy of mine forgot they even played. Just sad and I hate it. But it's just not appointment tv for me anymore. If I can watch, I'll watch. But if not, it is what it is. I want to know what happened after the UNC game. I get this team was going to struggle a little bit but it shouldn't be like this. -
I'm not sure what changed between the start of the season and now. I was at Morehead State and UNC. They looked focus. Tonsoni from Assembly Call was at both games as a media member. He even said at the time how focused they were.
-
If I was Mike Woodson and I saw that response from my players I would be livid. Haven't there been coaches who have "banned" social media? I respect athletes who stay off of it during the season. I know it's hard but it can be such a distraction.
-
Spot on. Our players are great people and I'm sure great students but man it's so old how they act like they're the victim on social media. Anytime they lose there is always some type of tweet. Just stay away!! Keep working. Do you think Zeller, Oladipo, Hulls, etc read Peegs, Inside the Hall, or even Twitter after they got beat? No!! I bet if social media was around in the 70s/80s/90s the IU players then wouldn't pay attention. Terrible terrible leadership by a 5th year senior..
-
Agree. Malik and Jordan look so lost. It's like they've regressed.
-
Bingo. Another thing I said going into this offseason. Do they want to get better? Hulls seemed like a quiet guy but supposedly (read this in an IU book by Hutchens) he got pretty snippy in the offseason Zeller arrived. He was tired of losing. These guys, while I think they are great people, don't have that same fire. If they did, we would've seen it by now. I think that's what stinks. For years IU had those guys under Knight. That '02 team I'm sure did. Crean only had a few groups. Have to get back to that. I've heard awesome things about Bates working hard. He's getting there. Even though I disagree with Woodson's setup of his roster/staff I still believe in him. I hope this group can turn it around. I don't like to make excuses but when you lose two starters like X and Race our team isn't going to be as good. Still shouldn't blow 21 point leads or lose at home to NWestern. I think this offseason is going to be very important. I think he needs changes on his staff. I'm not sure what Brian Walsh did to deserve being promoted to assitant coach. I get Fife needed to be let go. But you're telling me there was nobody better? We know this roster will look different. Quit keeping guys who aren't seeing the floor after 2-3 years. Why waste a spot when you can get someone in the portal.
-
I remember when Coach Woodson took over IU. He was on Dakich and he even said it in his press conference regarding players in the portal: We have to want these players for them to come back. It sure doesn't seem like it. I 100% understand transitions. But 7 of the 13 players on this current team were handpicked by probably the worst coach in program history. 9 of 13 last year. Also, two of our three current assistant coaches were from the previous staff. I'm sorry but this has to be asked. Why? I'm not saying to completely clean house, but of those 7 players from the previous staff 3 are not B1G caliber players. The jury is still out on some. I just think in today's era of the portal a new coach needs to bring in new talent when he is taking over a job. Especially when the program has been a losing one like IU was! X and JHS are guys Woody brought in. I've been impressed so far. Tamar is up and down but still he's an upgrade. Maybe Malik too. Imagine our roster if Woodson was able to bring in some more guys. Again, this is his fault. I'm just saying I think this question needs to be asked. Majority of our program has players/coaches from what is in my opinion one of the worst periods of IU basketball. It was understandable last year. It's year two now. Not a bright idea looking back on it.

What makes me mad even more...Connor McCaffery is running is mouth on the field of 68 right now just like Geo Baker. And he has every right to. "Their coaching staff had no idea. It's like they'd never seen a zone before." -

February 28 against Iowa will be must see TV. I get his frustration. He should be more frustrated at himself and his team for blowing a 21 point lead. -

I agree to some extent. I think most of us were hoping we would see some player development in the second offseason of Coach Woodson. Are we seeing that? Outside of Tamar who is better than they were a year ago? -

I put in bold two things a lot of people don't have: time and money. You are exactly right. One of my co-workers (IU Alum from the 80s) drove all the way to Kansas for that no-show. Bless her heart she still says she didn't regret it. IU fans are some of the best fans in the country. I won't stop watching. My interest level goes down a little but I'm still a sucker/fan of this program. I just feel guys are regressing from where they were in November (Malik, Galloway, and Geronimo.) Feels like they've done nothing since the UNC game. Those three have to grow the you know what up right now. If not, play Logan, Kaleb, and CJ. Why not? -

I'm normally one to be level headed but this was bad..real bad. This is Woodson's lowest moment right now as coach. This game was going to tell me where the season was going. IU wins, they're back on track. A loss tells me this is the same sub .500 IU team we've seen since 2017. This team has to find a way to figure out how to close these games. I'm extremely worried your best player is going to be nursing an injury the rest of the year. Can he make it to March? You can't afford to have him sit for 3 weeks again. Add in your PG and glue guy now being out..I hope I'm wrong but man this might get out of hand fast. 2019 bad... Nobody said at the start of the year this was a National Title contender. Realistically that wasn't the expectation. The expectation WAS to be at or near the top in the B1G. You can't accomplish that by losing to 0-3 Iowa home or away. You just can't. Woodson and this program cannot afford another bubble year. Indiana at some point is going to have to break through and win some freaking games. In order for this program to gain the momentum it needs to rise to the top of college basketball like we all want, having 8-10 B1G seasons isn't going to cut it. You aren't going to be "Monverde U" if you keep doing this. You won't get big transfers. You won't even get top in-state players either. Hell, the game before Purdue comes back and finds a way to win a game it's not supposed to. We found a way to lose a game we were supposed to win.If you're an in-state kid with IU and Purdue offers..where you going right now? I appreciate the fight from these guys. I get they're trying. It's just not good enough. My goodness you are up 6 points with 4 to go. You can't go scoreless in the final 3.5 minutes of the game. PS: Yes, Fran is a tool. Yes, that should've been a T. However, it shouldn't have come down to that. I don't want to hear about that excuse. -

I don't blame you. This was a big game in terms of where the season could go. Is it over? No. But, this is starting to look like yet another sub .500 B1G team. Two 20 point blown leads by Woodson in the last year. Unacceptable. -

Fran McCaffrey is a tool and that should have been a T. IU also had zero business being down under a minute to go after leading by 21 points . Both are true. It's unacceptable. -

Bingo. I can see a bunch of teams finishing 13-7 for a 4 way tie for league champ. I'm sorry, I don't think Purdue is as good as people think. Top 15-20 team yes. Not number one. I think they'll come back down to earth shortly. I think the freshman (who have been impressive) will start to play like freshman. Next 4 games will be telling @ Iowa-game Indiana can win if they come ready to play Northwestern-Should win @ Penn State- Better than people thought Wisconsin-Can IU finally beat them? Right now Wisconsin is probably the 2nd best team in the B1G. I'd put us at 3 or 4. Let's see where things are heading into February. Conference season will be 1/2 over with by then. If IU is 7-4 in league play I like their chances to still win the B1G. -

I hope he starts next game. I think he's earned it. Not the best on defense. Plus, I like Galloway off the bench. He's a perfect 6th man. We will see about Race. I just wish Geronimo would be more consistent. -

I'm younger and I hated it too lol. If it was a B1G game against somebody good go for it. But it's Kennesaw State. That being said Tamar is getting there. -

That's the problem. Malik's hit a wall. My goodness. I'd like for it to be Jordan but he's so undersized. Just think something else has to work. -

I'd like to see a change in starting lineup. JHS Bates Kopp maybe Geronimo and TJD. Won't ever happen. Feel like Woody is obligated to play Race. -

1) Settles needs to call more games. I thought he was awesome. I felt like I was learning something while he talked. 2) I hope IU found something on offense. I don't think clogging the lane with Race/Trayce is going to work. I like Race Thompson a lot. Just not sure he's a starter. 3) It's Kennesaw State, but I hope Tamar Bates is starting to come along. I really like his shot. I feel like when he shoots it's going in. 4) Turnovers are starting to scare me a bit. Much needed rest for the team. Sounds like they're off for a few days then a week plus of practice. Hope this is what the team needs. Trayce should be rested up. Gives the staff time to make adjustments hopefully. -
Not sure I agree with that especially early on. That team was a disappointment early on. They were #13 early. Terrible Maui trip. Bad loss at Duke. I know they had a comeback against Notre Dame in Indy that sort of turned things around. For me, it wasn't until they beat Purdue that I thought that team was special. Point is, let's see how these guys respond. If they start the B1G season slow, then yes. However, I kept hearing how deep this team was. Time for them to prove it.
-
Yes. Another good one. I remember that year too. I think this team has the ability to rise.
