I don't like how arrogant their fans have become. I like Painter a lot. Just don't think their team is #1 good. -

Yes! Last year IU lost to Michigan after a big win. This season after beating UNC they lost to Rutgers. Gotta get this next one. -

Dang. What a freaking game and what a day of college hoops! Watched this at a bar full of IU fans. Awesome atmosphere. 1) Enjoy what this team has left of JHS to TJD. Man, what a duo. When X comes back that makes this team much much more dangerous. 2) The great start was key in this game. Indiana didn't let Purdue get comfortable. I said I felt like they had to make Loyer/Smith play like freshmen and for the most part, they did. 3) Our guards outplayed theirs which was my second key going into this game. Galloway has been awesome the last few weeks. I wanted Tamar in the lineup but Trey's stepped up. 4) Kaleb Banks is going to be awesome. Kind of reminds me of when Juwan was a freshmen. Juwan didn't play much on that B1G Championship team but when he did play he was pretty efficient. 5) Malik gaining confidence has been crucial down the stretch. He freaking went at Edey. I loved seeing that. 6) Race made some HUGE plays at the end. Glue guy! 7) Matt Painter is awesome. I know we aren't supposed to like him but what he's doing with this team is special. I'm sorry, I really don't think Purdue is THAT good. Maybe top ten. I just don't think they are a Final 4 team. Edey is a beast, top 3 player in the country. Maybe #1. Outside of that, I think IU is better. With a healthy X IU wins this I think by double digits. Homer me thinks IU can go into Mackey and beat them. Credit to Coach Woodson. I came here three-four weeks ago and wasn't happy with the state of the program. Felt from the Rutgers game to the Penn State game this team took a major step back. Since then, just one loss. I do agree, celebrate but get ready for Rutgers. IMO that game is just as important. They own IU. Let's end that crap. Punch them in the mouth. I hope this team is peaking at the right time. That's what it's going to come down to this year. I don't think there is a consensus #1 team. (Technically we just beat them). -

If it's like the UNC game it will be freaking awesome. DJ GNO before the game. They'll have the marching band on the court before the game hopefully. They played the trumpet song the Mets closer came out to and the student section went crazy. When they play Martha the place will go nuts. -

That's awesome! Mine is a UK fan but gave me the green light for the UNC game. Tickets weren't that bad. It should be a great atmosphere. -

Haven't posted as much in the last month or so, but I'm super pumped for this game. I missed a few of the really bad games (Penn State, Northwestern) but was able to watch Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Ohio State. I like how the guys have responded. I give Purdue credit for what they've done this season. Painter is awesome. Edey is a top 3 player in the country with Trayce and Wilson from Kansas. I was hoping back in December that X would be back for this game. Doesn't sound too good for Geronimo. Key for me is our guards have to outplayer their freshman/make them look like freshman. Need Jalen to have a UNC/OSU kind of game again. Galloway/Bates to hit some shots. Maybe CJ gives us a few big minutes. I don't see IU stopping Edey. Should be a good game. Going to watch it at a big IU bar in Evansville. Probably the biggest IU-PU game in 30 plus years since the early 90s. I think IU finds a way to win. Trayce has a legacy game. I just hope this time when we beat Purdue that we don't sleepwalk the next game..Rutgers on Tuesday. That game is just as important. Crazy, but 2 through 9 in the B1G is separated by 1 game. I think 2 through 11 is by 2. Would like IU to get that double bye in the BTT. P.S. SHAME on ESPN for not having this on College Gameday. I don't know why but I've been hot about this since Monday. Two of the three best players in the country, one of the best rivalries in the sport, #1 team on the road in a tough road environment. Should be a no-brainer. Instead, probably the least exciting Duke-UNC game in a very very long time. Makes me sick. This would have been huge for both IU and Purdue. -
Thought the same thing...SMH. You know that's all we will hear at halftime of the IU game.

I've accepted that this program isn't a blueblood anymore. Much like Nebraska football. It is what it is. -

I'm not sure which is worse.. the collapse of the 16-17 team or this one. -

Sad but I didn't watch last night. We had our youth group. A month ago they were playing Nebraska on a Wednesday while I was there. I looked a few times at the score and watched a few minutes on Youtube TV. Last night I went in the car and pulled up ESPN and just saw the score. A buddy of mine forgot they even played. Just sad and I hate it. But it's just not appointment tv for me anymore. If I can watch, I'll watch. But if not, it is what it is. I want to know what happened after the UNC game. I get this team was going to struggle a little bit but it shouldn't be like this. -
I'm not sure what changed between the start of the season and now. I was at Morehead State and UNC. They looked focus. Tonsoni from Assembly Call was at both games as a media member. He even said at the time how focused they were.
-
If I was Mike Woodson and I saw that response from my players I would be livid. Haven't there been coaches who have "banned" social media? I respect athletes who stay off of it during the season. I know it's hard but it can be such a distraction.
-
Spot on. Our players are great people and I'm sure great students but man it's so old how they act like they're the victim on social media. Anytime they lose there is always some type of tweet. Just stay away!! Keep working. Do you think Zeller, Oladipo, Hulls, etc read Peegs, Inside the Hall, or even Twitter after they got beat? No!! I bet if social media was around in the 70s/80s/90s the IU players then wouldn't pay attention. Terrible terrible leadership by a 5th year senior..
-
Agree. Malik and Jordan look so lost. It's like they've regressed.
-
Bingo. Another thing I said going into this offseason. Do they want to get better? Hulls seemed like a quiet guy but supposedly (read this in an IU book by Hutchens) he got pretty snippy in the offseason Zeller arrived. He was tired of losing. These guys, while I think they are great people, don't have that same fire. If they did, we would've seen it by now. I think that's what stinks. For years IU had those guys under Knight. That '02 team I'm sure did. Crean only had a few groups. Have to get back to that. I've heard awesome things about Bates working hard. He's getting there. Even though I disagree with Woodson's setup of his roster/staff I still believe in him. I hope this group can turn it around. I don't like to make excuses but when you lose two starters like X and Race our team isn't going to be as good. Still shouldn't blow 21 point leads or lose at home to NWestern. I think this offseason is going to be very important. I think he needs changes on his staff. I'm not sure what Brian Walsh did to deserve being promoted to assitant coach. I get Fife needed to be let go. But you're telling me there was nobody better? We know this roster will look different. Quit keeping guys who aren't seeing the floor after 2-3 years. Why waste a spot when you can get someone in the portal.
-
I remember when Coach Woodson took over IU. He was on Dakich and he even said it in his press conference regarding players in the portal: We have to want these players for them to come back. It sure doesn't seem like it. I 100% understand transitions. But 7 of the 13 players on this current team were handpicked by probably the worst coach in program history. 9 of 13 last year. Also, two of our three current assistant coaches were from the previous staff. I'm sorry but this has to be asked. Why? I'm not saying to completely clean house, but of those 7 players from the previous staff 3 are not B1G caliber players. The jury is still out on some. I just think in today's era of the portal a new coach needs to bring in new talent when he is taking over a job. Especially when the program has been a losing one like IU was! X and JHS are guys Woody brought in. I've been impressed so far. Tamar is up and down but still he's an upgrade. Maybe Malik too. Imagine our roster if Woodson was able to bring in some more guys. Again, this is his fault. I'm just saying I think this question needs to be asked. Majority of our program has players/coaches from what is in my opinion one of the worst periods of IU basketball. It was understandable last year. It's year two now. Not a bright idea looking back on it.

What makes me mad even more...Connor McCaffery is running is mouth on the field of 68 right now just like Geo Baker. And he has every right to. "Their coaching staff had no idea. It's like they'd never seen a zone before." -

February 28 against Iowa will be must see TV. I get his frustration. He should be more frustrated at himself and his team for blowing a 21 point lead. -

I agree to some extent. I think most of us were hoping we would see some player development in the second offseason of Coach Woodson. Are we seeing that? Outside of Tamar who is better than they were a year ago? -

I put in bold two things a lot of people don't have: time and money. You are exactly right. One of my co-workers (IU Alum from the 80s) drove all the way to Kansas for that no-show. Bless her heart she still says she didn't regret it. IU fans are some of the best fans in the country. I won't stop watching. My interest level goes down a little but I'm still a sucker/fan of this program. I just feel guys are regressing from where they were in November (Malik, Galloway, and Geronimo.) Feels like they've done nothing since the UNC game. Those three have to grow the you know what up right now. If not, play Logan, Kaleb, and CJ. Why not? -

I'm normally one to be level headed but this was bad..real bad. This is Woodson's lowest moment right now as coach. This game was going to tell me where the season was going. IU wins, they're back on track. A loss tells me this is the same sub .500 IU team we've seen since 2017. This team has to find a way to figure out how to close these games. I'm extremely worried your best player is going to be nursing an injury the rest of the year. Can he make it to March? You can't afford to have him sit for 3 weeks again. Add in your PG and glue guy now being out..I hope I'm wrong but man this might get out of hand fast. 2019 bad... Nobody said at the start of the year this was a National Title contender. Realistically that wasn't the expectation. The expectation WAS to be at or near the top in the B1G. You can't accomplish that by losing to 0-3 Iowa home or away. You just can't. Woodson and this program cannot afford another bubble year. Indiana at some point is going to have to break through and win some freaking games. In order for this program to gain the momentum it needs to rise to the top of college basketball like we all want, having 8-10 B1G seasons isn't going to cut it. You aren't going to be "Monverde U" if you keep doing this. You won't get big transfers. You won't even get top in-state players either. Hell, the game before Purdue comes back and finds a way to win a game it's not supposed to. We found a way to lose a game we were supposed to win.If you're an in-state kid with IU and Purdue offers..where you going right now? I appreciate the fight from these guys. I get they're trying. It's just not good enough. My goodness you are up 6 points with 4 to go. You can't go scoreless in the final 3.5 minutes of the game. PS: Yes, Fran is a tool. Yes, that should've been a T. However, it shouldn't have come down to that. I don't want to hear about that excuse. -

I don't blame you. This was a big game in terms of where the season could go. Is it over? No. But, this is starting to look like yet another sub .500 B1G team. Two 20 point blown leads by Woodson in the last year. Unacceptable.
