Is Kansas out of this? I saw someone with rivals say it seemed to be down to IU and Vandy. -

Sanford would have more of an impact than Nick Zeisloft did IMO. He would fit well here. Also played some PG at Reitz in high school so he can handle the ball well. It will be interesting to see that names of big men that could come here. -
Agree. This tournament will be fun to watch. It sucks that IU has not been a factor in March but I love this time of the year. IHSAA tournament/conference tournaments/and the NCAA's!
-
100% agree. I'm not surprised with the way recruiting has been. I hope this summer is like the 2011 one where the guys were sick and tired of losing.

Like most I believe we have the right coach. This current roster is what really got Crean fired. Even during the 2016 B1G Championship season I thought the program was going to drop off significantly in the next few years . The recruiting just was not there (Grant Gelon enough said). Robert Johnson never lived up to his top 50 rankings. This program needed him to be an effective scorer his junior and senior year and he was not. Freddie McSwain and Zach McRoberts got way too many minutes and are not D1 starters. Josh Newkirk rivals Jeremiah Rivers as the worst transfer in IU history. Collin Hartman just couldn't stay healthy. I do believe that Juwan Morgan will be back next season and could be a 1st Team All-Big player. I think Justin Smith could possibly be our 6th man and have an impact like Will Sheehey. I have to think Phinisee and Hunter start as freshmen since they are Archie's guys. Damezi should get good minutes. Thompson/Forrester/and maybe Moore should have an impact next year. The biggest question heading into this offseason IMO: 1) Romeo's decision- if he commits IU will be a B1G contender and a possible top 10/15 team. I think he could average 20 points a game next year. If not I think we will be better than this year but not by much. 2) De'ron's health- If he can stay healthy, he can really be a force. Must improve defensively and stay out of foul trouble. 3) Who leaves- Juwan could very well go pro and nobody could blame him. Devonte Green could possibly transfer and maybe Clifton Moore. I think Al stays. 4) Grad Transfers- Sanford (Toledo) has been rumored to IU. The Vincennes player as well. I would have to think that if De'ron's health is an issue that we pick up a center as well. My expectations for this team was too high. I felt we could be a middle of the road B1G team with some quality wins and could be a 8/9 seed in the NCAA's. Yes this team improved as the year when on but you cannot lose to Indiana State, IPFW, and Rutgers. It just cannot happen. I am excited for next year and fully believe Archie is going to do everything he can this offseason to make us even better next year.

I remember reading a book by Steve Alford. His freshman year coach Knight had the score of losing to Miami (OH) on the board all season. I hope Archie does the same thing.

He needs to go away. I thought he would have after he cried wolf for Billy. -

I feel the same too. With what he have coming it we will land a grad transfer and/or Romeo. I can't see those two getting as much PT as they have this year. It's the nature of the game. -

I'm sure its been asked on this board, but how does Jalen compare to the two oldest? He may be a player to watch. -

I just called the Seymour athletic office. They are completely sold out so IHSAA TV will be the only way I can watch the game. First thing Monday I will call the nearest high school to get tickets for the regional. It is possible that TJD and Romeo face off in the Regional Championship. Two potential back to back Mr. Basketball's and IU Hoosiers. But let's see what happens this weekend first... -

Sanford ran a little big of PG at Reitz too. We will just have to wait and see! -

I was thinking the same thing. I would have to think he wouldn't go somewhere and not start. Again it could be nothing. -
Potential starting 5 for next year, does Juwan GoPro?
HoosierFan1994 replied to tortex28's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My guess that means nothing... PG Robert Phinese SG Jerome Hunter SF Damezi Anderson PF Juwan Morgan (think he stays) C De'Ron Davis McRoberts, Green, Smith, Durham, and Thompson come off the bench. This doesn't include Romeo or any transfers. This lineup/bench I think would be a 8-10 seed and middle of big ten team. If Romeo commits it makes us a Big Ten Contender (maybe favorite) and a Sweet 16-Elite 8 team. -

I hate to be this guy, but I heard from people in his hometown that Toledo SG Jaelan Sanford was graduating early and would come to IU to play his final season. He was a first team all state choice in 2015 and is a lights out 3 point shooter. I don't know if anyone has heard anything about this so I thought I'd ask. Something to watch for sure. -

Wow I think this guy is way off.I know it's early, but I'm not that high on Iowa and Maryland. Think Minnesota, Michigan State and Northwestern will be better. Indiana and Wisconsin may be "sleepers". Still a long way to go. -

Very surprised/excited Hartman is coming back. I think JBJ will too. Most have him outside the top 100 on NBA boards. I'm sure OG and Bryant will at least test the waters. Archie could have a good team next year. I see Indiana and Michigan State (possibly Minnesota and Northwestern) as the kings of the Big Ten next year. Not quite sure on a national scale yet. -

I find it a little strange too. Always liked CTC but you feel he would move on.

Where would we be if: Mike Davis had not gone on the 2002 Miracle Run
HoosierFan1994 replied to Brass Cannon's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I was 7 during the 2002 run. Of all my favorite sports teams (Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals) that is by far my favorite memory. Beating Duke was awesome and I remember the rest of the tournament fairly well. -
Now that I think about it, his teams were ALWAYS on the bubble. I just cannot believe how off the national media is about the hire. Heard Gotlieb ramble on Dan Patrick about how he was told it was Alford.
-
Had the pleasure of going to the press conference today. I am getting more and more excited about the hire. He really does seem like a no B.S kind of guy, opposite of Crean.(Seth Greenberg actually said this morning Indiana hired Tom Crean again.) Really looking forward to a better non-conference slate (UK and Zona??) and locking the in-state recruits. I certainly think he can do it. It will be interesting to see who stays for next year. Archie said in one interview he was very impressed with the talent on this team. With what Archie did at Dayton I really think this team could have lived up to its potential with him.

Things for sure are going to get interesting in the next few weeks. Think OG and Bryant go pro. Hartman most likely gone. Thankfully this won't be as bad as 2008.
