Last team we had that was worth a damn and played consistent was Yogi's last year. AM now has a full roster of his own players and we are just as inconsistent as when he first got here. Hunter and Phinny have shown such little improvement since joining. AM has failed to recruit sharp shooters. His teams lack the ability to shoot FT and his recruiting seems to be solely reliant on hitting on an Indiana kid or two...when that fails there seems to be no real options. Its fair to wonder if 9-10 i the conference is around our peak with a ranking between 30-40. That's a bubble team which is what we look like.

What Can IUBB do to Revive Your Excitement/Confidence?
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Loaded Chicken Sandwich's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This is supposed to be the year with TJD. After this year we almost certainly lose him and have no immediate replacement. I would say if we can't have moderate success this year it isn't looking any better next year and Archie will start to be on the hot seat. Lot of bball to play this year but based on what we've seen its hard to imagine this team being over .500 in the BIG. -
They jacked up rates to $75 I think. They've had a few price spikes which is kind of ridiculous considering they were around $50 when I first joined and have added a few channels although nothing that justifies the increases. Also, I think they got rid of Fox Sports regional so I may switch in the spring when hockey/baseball is back on. For now, it really isn't a loss. The good is the sports stations. You get pretty much eerything outside of fox sports regional. That includes MLB network, NFL network and you have the ability to add Redzone for $10 a month which is pretty sweet if you're a big NFL fan.

Game Thread: 11/28 vs. Maryland - Noon - ESPN2
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I don't think Maryland has played for 3 weeks so I wouldn't be surprised if they are rusty. At least that is the hope. Maryland is much improved with Tua's little brother at the helm. Would love nothing more to see our run game have some success. Only thing that has constantly been lacking this year. We take care of business at home and Fryfogle goes for 9 catches for 155 yards and a TD! Dude is balling out. -
If You Could Add One Past Player.....

Bieldfeldt or Watford. Feel like a stretch four that can shoot would be perfect. -
Jonathan Stiever - Chicago White Sox Org
TXHoosierDaddy posted a topic in IUHoosier Baseballers in the Pros
Stiever drafted in the 5th round by the White Sox pick 138. That will likely be too tempting of a signing bonus to pass up so he's gone. Good to see one Hoosier go early on. Profile/Stats -

We've been lucky to have some great recruiters with Tracy, Lemonis and now Mercer. Is this the best recruit we have ever gotten under those regimes? I don't remember seeing a guy ranked as a 10 on perfect game. Definitely a number of 9's. -
IUBB - 2020 Off-Season News
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Much better going north/south on the break. He was limited when we went into our half court set. His only real move was driving down the lane and kind of laying up a shot from a few feet out. Never found the mid-range jumper throughout his career here. Really didn't have great handles to speak of and primarily went to his right for everything. Really liked him as a 4 but if he wants to play the 3 probably best to go elsewhere. Really liked his defense and motor but it was questioned at times. As some mentioned, I was surprised he actually came back last year. Would have liked to still have him but the numbers don't tell the true story on the loss here (or lack thereof imo) -
Early BIG Projections (2020-21)

I hardly know what he looks like not banged up. It legit seems like that has been most of his two years on campus. -
Early BIG Projections (2020-21)
TXHoosierDaddy replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I would say very good in flashes. I thought he was horribly inconsistent last year. We had to rely on him heavily because of not having another PG. There is more competition this year and guys pushing for minutes. Margins are smaller. I think any number of the guards mentioned are at risk of being planted on the bench more if they don't take a step forward. -
Early BIG Projections (2020-21)

Phinesee didn't improve at all his Soph year. Sure injuries contributed. With guys demanding minutes like Lander and Franklin I think he stands to lose the most even if he starts and Archie wants to bring Lander off the bench. -
Been watching some documentaries. Free Solo on Hulu was incredible. Have some other really good recommendations on docs if anyone is interested. Crazy stupid love is a pretty good rom com with the family that I just saw on Hulu as well. Oh and watched Parasite. Don't know if it deserved movie of the year but it was good. Also, on Hulu.

I've never been more excited about a player based on high school highlights and then been so disappointed. Not only contributed hardly anything but seemed like a poison pill as you mentioned. That class in general was so hyped...and none came even close to it outside of Yogi who exceeded it and much more.

B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread
TXHoosierDaddy replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Illinois looks poised to stay. Reallly good recruiting class next year and starting off strong with a great pickup in 2021 in Goode. -
I can't say you're wrong. He's looked completely lost against any sort of good competition for the most part in his time at IU. Some improvement from Freshman to Sophmore year at least provides some optimism but I wonder if he is the type of player that would do better in a MAC type conference. He's got to improve his handles and confidence offensively if he's going to get off the bench next year.

B10 Basketball Recruiting Thread
TXHoosierDaddy replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Losing Todd definitely hurts but they still have the #1 rated class in the BIG coming in and a transfer PG that can play immediately. Livers decision looms large. I'm more interested to know what kind of coach Howard actually is. I feel like it was tough to make that determination this year with the solid core and veteran leadership that Beilein left. That could be the ultimate factor. -
I know things are fluid but with Mineland committing to Lville are we still interested/tracking any other grad transfers? Thought for sure Damezi would transfer and we would fill the spot with a grad transfer and likely someone who can shoot the rock. Do I think our shooting will be better next year, yes. But it still won't be a strength imo.
-
And he's been nothing more than mediocre over the last 4-5 years. But that title and the fact that he is basically the mayor there makes him untouchable.
-
Yet to see a really good offense with Archie. Points are hard to come by. At some point this has to change if we are going to stop being a .500 BIG team and win a few more on the road. Year 4 he has to show improvement here. I don't care where the scoring comes from who else he brings in but its got to get better.
-
First transfer I have publicly seen us in on. I hope there are more. We absolutely need a grad transfer shooter this upcoming season.
-
I think James is a big loss. Maybe not this year if Scott stays healthy but next year. He looked to have everything you want in a RB and now we are left with absolutely nothing behind Scott as insurance. Deboer was going to leave regardless so I can't fault that but a large part of those 8 wins had to do with our offense taking a huge step forward. No excuse for the new OC to not build on that momentum as that was Allen's most important hire/decision this offseason.
-
It's Indiana football. Most other D1 football schools care enough to have some accountability here. However, Allen is going to ride this 8-4 season for probably a few years without anyone saying a word. And basketball season allows this to go under the radar to many. We've managed to now lose a top OL, a damn good backup QB, two key RB's, and at least four coaches I think? I don't ever think I have seen a max exodus for a team coming off their best season in years with the HC still around and a talented QB coming back....

(2021) PG Khristian Lander to Western Kentucky U.

I would still like to add a grad transfer shooter for next season if possible. It will improve from this year but still slots as not a strength. -

Beilein will be available.....
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Respect the opinion of those that wouldn't want him unless its because of his age. Coach K is 73, Roy is 69....Beilein has at least 4 or 5 good years left in him and we just need someone to get the program on the right track. It shouldn't be a blocker that they are expected to be with IU for X number of years. This program just needs momentum and a winning attitude.
