2017 July Evaluation Period

Porter is already a solid commitment to Missouri. May even reclassify to 2017. Jones seems to be a heavy Duke lean but is uncommitted. -

That's because he usually got out-coached. Archie's coaching + solid recruiting = a totally different ballgame. -

How about similar to Will Wade at LSU. He came in around the same time Archie did from a mid-major type school and has already landed Tremont Waters 4 star for 2017 and a 5 star for 2018. I would say expectations need to be a little tempered for 2018 but in basketball no reason to not be able to pull in a few big fish right away. it's not like Archie came out of nowhere and neither did his assistants. -

That would be very discouraging especially with the assistants Archie put around him. We may not get Romeo or Garland but have a feeling over the next few month or two some additional big names might appear and I do think we can nab a Dort, Jerome Hunter or Carey. -

The quality at OSU seems to be lacking a little more so I think there is a bigger sense of urgency for Holtman to fill some of those spots rather than waiting on bigger time recruits to decide. It's always interesting seeing the adjustment coaches make from mid-major to big time conference and the effect on recruiting. You are right. Unless Holtman has aspirations of being on the same playing field as Nebraska, he will need to bring in some bigger recruits. -

Looks like Ohio State reeled in another one. That's two for Holtmann pretty quickly. The recruiting obviously carried over from Butler. http://www.cleveland.com/osu/2017/07/torrence_watson_top_100_player.html Really getting anxious on who will be the first IU commit for Archie and if we can get one of the big fish for 2018 to really start the domino effect of guys wanting to come aboard. -
IU Baseball Offseason Updates

Sounds like everyone is coming back that is eligible to? Kind of surprised Lloyd and Sowers didn't get drafted. Miller was a 31st rounder but I would think he would prefer to improve on that with another season similar to Deeds. -

Phinisee or Jallow seem like decent bets. -

Really undisciplined hitting. The scouting report is clear. Throw offspeed stuff preferably out of the strike zone and we will go after it. -

I watched the entire game yesterday. The base running was horrendous. We were picked off twice (once in the 1st when we had all the momentum). Also, should have scored at least two more runs but for whatever reason guys stopped at third. Also, the Krupa error was bad and the Houston error very costly. Really disappointed in the fundamentals because the hitting and pitching were good enough to win. Today is not off to a great start. Steiver all over the place. The bats better come alive!
