IUFB Offseason Updates
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Our WR corps sounds like it will be one of the strongest we have had in quite some time. I wonder if it means Peyton Ramsey is pushing Lagow or that he is set as the #2 QB. Assume it's the latter. -
IUFB Offseason Updates

If our D stays healthy, they are gonna keep us in games and could even win a game outright for us. Can our offense do enough to beat teams like OSU and Mich? I'm sure teams are excited that Lagow is our QB. Can we make the big play and keep our defense off the field. Can Lagow cut down on the TO's and bad decisions and can our running back at least establish some kind of success to help balance out the offense. These are all big questions I have going into the OSU game against their D. -

I hope so but I would be happy with 1. I just don't see how we beat Ohio State and no way @ Penn State. I think Wisky would be the most realistic out of all of them. -

Agree. It seems like about 5 or 6 guys competing, a total carousel of players. Haven't heard much about who is the favorite -

Outside of QB, what position are people most interested/concerned with heading into the season? I think it's safe to say the linebacker and secondary cores are pretty strong. Would also seem the starting WR's are as well along with special teams. I would say OL and DL seem to have the most questions. Thoughts? -
(2018) QB Reese Taylor to IU

Huge commitment. Wonder if this sways any other in-state recruits? From the looks of it, most of the top 10 either are committed elsewhere or don't have us listed as their favorite. I'm excited to have this kid though. -
(2018) SF Aaron Henry to Michigan State

It would be nice to bring in another big but I have heard there is a real 'lack' of bigs for 2018 and apparently most of the good ones reside on the west coast. Therefore, if you want CAM to bring in a big you may have to go the developmental route in getting a lesser heralded player or go the transfer/JUCO route. I don't know if CAM did much of that at Dayton. 2019 though seems to have quite a bit more bigs to choose from. -

Thanks! Allen had a lot of praise for Covington. Man that's a scary LB corps if he improved a lot when you consider Scales and Ball. Also, I just read he mentioned Dameon Willis as someone needing to step up to provide depth on the LB front. -

Hopefully this will be the good news this week that keeps the commit train rolling along! -
(2019) CB Larry Tracy to IU

If we have a really solid year I bet it completely changes things. Plus, we are going to be sending some DB's to the pros soon, which will be a nice sell. I would be more worried if this was Mich or Ohio State but with it being Iowa not overly worried. -

Anyone know who is likely to step in? I know we returned 9 of the 11 starters outside of Oliver and a DL. I guess this now makes 8 of 11. If there is any weakness now it has to be on the line with losing two guys. -

Put the full court press back on this kid I don't want to lose him! -
Interesting I didn't think he read any of the responses to his tweets. Now that he is back on twitter and posting all of these coaching messages, I see a common response to his tweets saying "that didn't happen when you coached IU" or "where was that the last 9 years". Kind of entertaining so it's worth a follow imo.

Would be surprised if one or both ever suit up. They still have to sit out a year. This is now the third altercation I have heard about them. First being KJ going on a profanity laced tired against Tubby on snapchat. Then the brothers getting into some kind of an altercation with an ex-Memphis player during a pickup game and now this. These guys are trouble!

2018 IUFB Recruiting

New commit today - Micah McFadden - LB from Plant, FL. We have gotten a number of commitments from this school and apparently Allen's son plays here. http://247sports.com/player/micah-mcfadden-89824 . - Not the most impressive offer list but overall I've been pleasantly surprised with a number of the recruits we have been in on. -

Very true. I think it also depends on what other guards Duke ends up with. Even if we get a visit, I see us still behind Duke. However, if Duke nabs another PG, I think that changes everything. Hope we can get him for a visit. -

I wouldn't say he's a good runner either so maybe somewhere in between. I want to root for this kid but I just didn't see it last year. I guess you can't teach arm strength but he seemed to lack a lot of the skills you like to see in a QB (pocket awareness and feeling the pressure, decision making, seeing the play before it develops). It should make for an interesting fall camp and given the new OC and coach it wouldn't surprise me if IU goes in another direction IF one of the other QB's shines. Otherwise, Lagow definitely gets the first crack. -

One thing to not forget is Archie was a PG himself. I think that could really bode well for his credibility/pitch in getting an elite PG to IU. -

I feel like Garland is the furthest from coming to IU. I like our chances much more with Phinisee, Langford, Dort, Duke, Henry, Dkinjo. -

I don't think we missed on Harris. He wanted to go to Mich St and play for Izzo. Heck I would be surprised if we were even in his top 3 with TC at the helm. RP definitely would come to IU if we make him the priority. But it seems like Archie is eyeing a few different PG's at the moment. -
(2018) SF Aaron Henry to Michigan State
TXHoosierDaddy replied to goonaha's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Man i really want this kid. With his stock skyrocketing, I will be more than happy adding him if we dont get RL and I won't feel as bad about not having him. The problem is Henry may decide before that decision comes or he may wait to see how the dominoes fall. I hope it's the latter b/c losing RL and Henry would be a little crushing. -
Great. Well everyone else might not. You bash people for continuing to bring him up and saying anything remotely negative (sorry but that's going to happen to any coach that gets fired because obviously not everyone wanted him here). I have no doubt TC is a good guy. But I also agree he comes off as something different than what he really is. Knew a few folks in the athletic department that didn't think as highly as him as you did.

The amount of undeserving scholarships Crean gave out was ridiculous. From Jobe, Bawa, Gelon, Priller, Guy Marc Michel and I'm sure i am missing more. Part of it is he didn't assemble an ace recruiting staff but the strategy to give out 50+ scholarships seemed to hurt with the higher ranked players. Everything about Archie is refreshing from his recruiting, to the staff he put together, to seeing the players conditioning program to scheduling better opponents. Thank you Tom for all you did to help us get back on our feet as a program but so glad you are gone!

^^This^^ As I mentioned, this defense is special and if RL struggles out of the gate you can't afford to let him play out the season while you hope he corrects his mistakes. He's a senior. Have to see what else you have. I hope he does well. Same goes for other guys on offense as well.
