(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It will be very interesting Monday morning. That's when all the movement seems to always happen. They will probably all change to IU last second to keep their accuracy up. At least that is how i am envisioning it! -

Wow, if that's the case then that certainly can't be viewed in any way but positively. -

I can't imagine that will be the case. Romeo will announce his decision date at least 4-5 days ahead of time like DG did. They want to amp up the excitement and attention. -

So is Rabjohns traveling to Nashville for the announcement or at this point we don't know? I am most curious about that and if Jerry Meyer keeps his CB pick. Monday morning should be interesting on that front. -

I think people can understand it but the examples provided were different situations entirely than RL and DG. And the ones that are happening outside of those examples reek of shadiness! -

Family ties for both. They were strongly considered the favorites the second the family members were on staff. Just a different situation entirely than RL and Vandy. -

Michael Porter's dad was hired at Missouri and Simmons godfather/family friend was on the staff. Both were added to get those players. Just a different situation entirely than if Vandy were to get RL. That's all I was saying. -

Simmons and Porter are both bad examples though. In the end, Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke still get most of the top ranked kids. More randomness today, which is likely due to the shadiness around the NCAA/AAU/Sponsors. -

Ben Simmons had a connection to LSU though with one of the assistants. I get your point but Romeo literally is not tied to Vandy at all other than the fact that he listed them as a school he's interested in. -

True, he is ineligible tonight versus Memphis but is expected back next week. Bama was initially one of the schools being looked at with FBI investigation. -

Fair point. I just think folks are overvaluing the fact that if DG goes there it's all of a sudden a huge advantage for them getting RL. I think Romeo will want to go to a blue bood and get the exposure. Just my opinion though. -

Why would Langford go to Vandy? Makes zero sense to me. He isn't best friends with Garland. No way that happens. -

Those 8 insiders that are all so confident in Darius going to Vandy! They must be beside themselves. Probably will be drinking non-stop and tweeting Darius all weekend. -

OMG. I bet the Vandy contingent is all melting down like this board was yesterday. It's over!!! IU all the way. -

Why is everyone making such a big deal about Shittu? There has been no inclination these two are a package deal. Also, on the same token I don't get the thought of 'we either get both Darius and Romeo or neither'. Rarely do package deals work out and there also hasn't been that strong of a sentiment that these guys are dying to play together outside of them listing the same schools. In the end, I am still optimistic we get both though! -

Why? I don't see anything telling about Vandy other than this potential Shittu commitment, which isn't even in stone yet. None of the quotes point one direction or the other. Again, everyone needs to not overreact here. -

I think he is a big time up and comer. Only thing that you can try to pin him to is Scott Drew, his brother. Although that's not really fair. -

Yeah but it's not a basketball school. Never has been although maybe Drew can turn the ship. It's gotta be the hometown thing more than anything and the fact that Drew has convinced a few high profile recruits that they can be something special together. -

If we don't show well in these next 3, I worry that some of our recruits will start looking elsewhere. If we start losing recruits, then we've got bigger problems. Absolutely, need to show well against the bottom of the conference and Purdue. -

And the sad thing is it's basically that way every year. We should replace #breakthrough with #breakdown -

It's on the AD. Look what Minnesota, Maryland and Rutgers are did recently. They went out and hired coaches with good resumes and they are all showing improvement already. Is it too early to really judge them all and TA? Of course. But they at least went out and made a commitment. This program chose the cheaper/easy option. -

Defense will easily take a step back. Only way it stays upright is if that high school QB is the real deal. Hate to put that on a kid but with everything we will lose next year on defense, we will need a game changer on offense and just not seeing it. -

Oh yeah Allen will be here at least 4 years. No way Fred is gonna cut the cord when he so willingly hired him without even doing a coaching search. He will be here a while. I hope things improve they can't get much worse based on what Allen took over. -
