#IUBASE - 2018 B1G Tournament
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Disappointing showing for sure. Expectations were high when we were hovering around 10 or 11 in the country and we kind of fell flat towards the end and it carried over into this tournament. There was fight these last two games which was encouraging and great to see. Just seems like we have the talent to be that team we showed we were early on but just can't find our way now and with the season at its end, its unlikely we rediscover that in time. -

Looked like a routine fly but IU was playing so far in that CF could not reach it and ILL wins. -

Very disappointing showing so far this week. 2 innings left to try to figure things out. -

Alright here we go! From a confidence standpoint heading into the regionals, this is one we have to get. -

He surely will be available after this season. No way the ASU donors will tolerate any awful season which is what they are having. -

It's incredibly frustrating. The talent is clearly there. Had a very good chance at hosting until that Minnesota sweep. Maybe switching up the staff will yield more positive results in the development of our guys. But I am still excited we are going to a regional again. To play postseason basaeball year after year after being in the cellar for so long is nice to have. -

I think our problem could be solved simply by bringing in an assistant coach that excels at player development. Leave the recruiting and bringing in talent up to Lemonis. It's perplexing that our hitters have improved only incrementally for the most part and in some cases taken steps back. -

We are in the BIG. That's the problem. Even if we get a really good coach like Tracy they will ultimately want to jump to the next level ala Pac-12 or SEC. I think the trade off is we get some consistency and we at least know we will be competitive/good every year. Reality just isn't the 2013 and 2014 seasons as much I would love it to be. -

I'm just happy baseball is competitive still. Lemonis is a really good recruiter so we will have plenty of talent on the roster always. Can he get us to the next level with more consistency is the problem. I watched five innings last night so missed the issues that transpired into runs for Illinois. But what I saw from IU hitters was a lack of discpline at the plate. Instead of taking a few pitches guys were going up there hacking and trying to hit home runs in a ballpark where only Kyle Schwarbers hit home runs. To good of a lineup to only score 1 run. We had that starting pitcher on the ropes in the 5th and couldn't capitalize with bases loaded, 1 out. Need to clean things up today or else I will have even less confidence of us doing anything in the regional. -
QB Hunter Johnson - Northwestern
TXHoosierDaddy replied to KDB's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Johnson will have to sit out the 2018 season as a transfer, and he will then have three years of eligibility remaining starting with the 2019 season -
This is a great pickup. Gives depth and insurance to a position that is a little unclear with Davis recovering from injury, Forrester being a Frosh and Moore not instilling much confidence after last year. 41% from 3. I can see him filling a bit of Biedfeldt role with that shooting.
-
Question is how healthy will he be, 70%, 80%, 90% at the start of the season? I have no idea what to expect but i do think it will take at least a good handful of games if not longer for him to get his feet back under him.

(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
TXHoosierDaddy replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
A great job recruiting. Coaching is a different story. -
Also, Dan Dakich beat the heck out of that drum!
-
Yep, he won't last long. Apparently he interviewed for the Fresno St HC job but didn't get it. Wonder if something happened there that rubbed Alford the wrong way. Either way, it's a loss for Alford and Grace will land on his feet in no time.
-
Grace was a lead recruiter for TJ Leaf, Kris Wilkes and a top 50 kid they got this year. Seemed really well liked and most of the reactions from sports writers that cover the Pac-12/West Coast seemed shocked by this. Hopefully, it comes back to finally bite Alford. He has always seemed incredibly arrogant to me.

#IUBASE - 3 Game Series Vs. Northwestern 4/13-14

Thanks for sharing. Future obviously bright beyond this year. Lemonis certainly has some weaknesses but recruiting and identifying talent is not one of them! -

I really expected him to take a step up this year. Kind of disappointing and maybe his 'suspension' has something to do with it regarding effort/focus/off field activities, whatever it is. Looking at the stats, Gorski and Finneman have really elevated their games offensively and it looks like Sowers has traded some power for better contact. Lloyd has definitely been better than Miller but I thought he would be around Sowers batting average wise. Can't believe how good our pitching has been. Ridiculous team ERA. -

He's about 3 months post-op. I haven't seen any update but would be shocked if he is still in the boot. At this point, I'd guess he is riding a stationary bike and able to work out without doing any exercises that put added weight on the foot like jogging. Think he's still a few months away from that. -

Nice to see him stick with it and take advantage of the PT yesterday. It's huge for his confidence. The biggest question still remains when is Luke Miller coming back? In the meantime, it's nice to see other guys take advantage of the opportunity. It really hasn't cost us yet not having him in the lineup. -

Agreed. Love going the JC ranks in baseball there always seems to be some diamonds in the rough. Without Kaletha, this is a completely different team. He's been incredibly clutch all year and has proven to be a great leadoff hitter. Lloyd is a rare good two way player. I still expect him to really break out offensively and maybe yesterday was the start. -

I think he will be good to go but I think it will be a very slow start for him. If we redshirted him we would have to bring in a grad transfer or juco big. No way can you put all your stock in Moore and Forrester to round out the 5 spot. -

I think you guys are underestimating the injury Davis suffered. This wasn't a minor injury. Achilles injuries can take 2 years to fully recover and about 9-12 months to get back to full activity. I know as I ruptured mine. Granted I didn't have the physical therapists Davis has but I also wasn't 6"10 (which is a negative for this type of injury). I think he will get better as the season wears on but Davis will not have the luxury of doing everything offseason that he needs to do to take the next step in his game. -
The reason it looks like they have something here is b/c of the text messages that were handed over. Haas actual girlfriend communicated with the girl who filed the lawsuit. She stated this was not the first time he gave someone herpes as she has it too. They also both worked to try to hush this girl up so she wouldn't file a lawsuit.
