Penn looks good. Definitely a team to watch as a 13/14 seed come tourney time.

ALLEN thinking of turning over defensive coordinator duties to someone else.

Having Debord here is doing him no favors. But I would rather see Penix for at least a few games to see what he can do. -

I saw an article today that Debord was paid as the #126 coordinator in the country. Rutgers, Minnesota and Illinois all have a higher paid assistant. You can't have nice things if you aren't willing to pay for it. People can criticize Allen all you want for not making a change but this clearly limits him big time. McRobbie and Glass need to wake up. Actually it will never happen with McRobbie so better to wait until he is gone. -

And they hired the Auburn OC yesterday. He was also conveted by Tenn. The fact that Debord is still here doesn't look good. -
Weber had his best years with Self's players. I don't think Illinois has even come close to the recruiting classes Self put together of Dee Brown, Deron Williams, Luther Head, Roger Powell, James Augustine. Those teams had some talented, tough players. Someone has be able to to recruit Chicago to be successful there.

I don't see many BIG jobs opening up. Pitino at Minnesota i think would be the most likely opening. Nebraska and Iowa are having good years so far but that needs to continue. Underwood is only in year 2. Regardless, he will get another year. Their schedule has been brutal so far but the 2-6 record is disappointing and they do have some talent on that roster.

I don't see Turgeon, Shaka or the USC coach losing their jobs this year. The USC coach has the #1 recruiting class in 2019. UCLA makes a lot of sense.

(2019) WR David Bell to Purdue
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
You're exactly right. One look at Purdue's offense compared to ours and its easy to see where a skilled playmaker would want to go. It's tough because we had a chance if we had a Sudfeld behind center and a competent coordinator but neither exists. This the the kind of recruit that wouldn't consider us just a few years back, however, the inability to build on our momentum this year sealed the fate with this one. -

The better time to ask this question will be when both teams get into BIG play and we see where we stack up. We absolutely should finish higher than them given the roster. -

It's a big loss now after seeing how little Smith has improved on last year. -

Correct. Plenty of season left and hopefully most can realize that the roster was a bit more talented for one team in year one. -

Our expectations are unfortunately very low as a program - Until McRobbie goes I think football will be in the cellar. I hate to say it but other than improving the stadium we have shown nothing in the way of commitment to winning as a university. The only silver lining is Allen is recruiting well. However, another season of not bowling likely will have a negative effect towards that. 2019 is SO CRUCIAL. If we don't hire some competent coordinators there is no way I see us getting to 6 wins. We failed miserably in the 2nd half of games this year and we know the second half is all about adjustments. The teams aren't getting any easier with our schedule set up the way it is. Anyone opposed to bringing back Matt Canada as an OC? I have to think Maryland hires a new HC and rids itself of everyone associated with the Durkin era. Not sure on DC front but a couple staffs will be looking for new homes after this season. -

There is no pining for another coach at least from me (others already with the knee jerk reaction) but the comparison to at least Holtmann will always be there. Same thing goes for QB's drafted right behind each other. The connection will always be made whether it is fair or not. That's all. -

Exactly, it's quite funny that was his main takeaway and complain from the game. It's one thing to complain about something that is actually accurate but this clown doesn't seem to understand what he is actually filming. -

I'm very interested to see how Holtmann does. He was definitely there for the taking. Also, what about Chris Mack? I wonder if we ever tried to make a run at him. He's killing the recruiting at Lville so far and had a big win against Mich St. last night with an inferior team. -

Really dislike this guy. His comments are so out of line and just not accurate at all. If I was Romeo I would stay away. He goes out of his way to call out Archie and our system game in and game out if Romeo doesn't score 30 points and take 20 shots. -

My positives from last night: De'ron Davis and Durham. A healthy McRoberts and Green (although Green looked like the same frustrating player we have seen more times than not). Willing to give a bit of a break to him since he has been out. Negatives: Too long a list. I'm most disappointed in Justin Smith. He looks lost. I would sit his butt on the bench until he wakes up. He looked like a deer in the headlights more than any other player last night. I start McRoberts instead or Davis. Also, I am all for giving Forrester a little run if we can. I'd really like to see someone develop into a shot blocker/rebounder b/c right now we are limited in that regard. -

I'd love to know how many times we ran it on first down no matter what the score was. Debord ran it up the gut literally every first down all year no matter the score. It was downright laughable how predictable it was. -
Darius Garland out for the season. Tough blow for the kid. So much for Vandy breaking out. Can't see it now. Also, he did tear his meniscus. That's typically a 6 week timeframe. This makes me believe he is not going to take any chances and will go pro after this year.

I don't care who the QB is. If the play-caller is still here it will be a problem. However, both a new OC + Penix could be the answer. And Allen turning over DC duties, which I really think he needs to do. If Debord isn't fired this off-season I don't see how this team will be any different next year. -

Maryland was above us as well until this latest issue. Durkin was a hot coaching candidate name and they made a commitment to him. Obviously didn't turn out well.
