Why didn't we open up the check book a little more and pay Chris Mack? Oh yeah because our athletic department is a total freaking joke as is our president. -

Yep this is why I was worried about this next batch of recruits. Recruits notice that kind of stuff and it's mind blowing that our staff has done nothing to help our best pure scorer out. -

He also recruited two guys who aren't playing a single minute. People can blame it all they want on Crean's players but the fact is Archie hasn't done himself really any favors. -

I don't want Glass being involved in a hire again if this doesn't work out. -

Crap. Unless we get a consistent third/fourth scorer i just don't see it. It would also help to have one big guy worth a damn between Davis, Fizner, Moore and Jake. It ain't Fizner! -

I like Smith but his basketball IQ is not the highest. -

The best thing for this team would be if Hunter came back. I just don't see it with what we are running out there night in and night out. Too many players that aren't contributing enough. -

We just don't have enough threats on offense. Its basically two guys carrying the load night in and night out. And then if we are lucky we get a good game every once in a while from Green or Durham. It's a severly flawed team. McBob has regressed due to injury and it's basically 4 on 5 with him. Archie missed the transfer opportunity because there were plenty out there and Fizner is worthless. Would like to see Archie give Jake some minutes. Clifton is finally getting an opportunity and playing well enough tonight. -

Anyone remember when Romeo was down to Vandy and KU? Here we go... -
I'm not sure Okie State and W. Virginia would classify as bad teams and they are clearly the weakest in the conference. I'd probably pick them over Illinois, Penn St. or Rutgers looking at schedules and results but that's just me. Iowa St. and K State both had lots of injuries like we have had and are just now getting back to full strength. Both have the talent to make a run at the Big 12. TCU is also missing one of their top players and is still in Top 25 along with with Tech, KU (as always), Iowa St, Oklahoma.

Observations so far regarding conferences Pac-12: Total joke. They shouldn't get more than 2 teams in the tourney (AZ, AZ St). Everyone else is laughable. Biggest disappointment: Oregon or UCLA (with Alford). UCLA is 3-0 in conference since firing Alford so is one to watch. Big 12: Deepest conference from top to bottom. I don't think there is an easy win anywhere. Biggest surprise: Texas Tech or OU. The coach at Tech, Beard, is the real deal. Biggest disappointment: W Virginia or UT. Don't think Huggy will be in the tourney this year. ACC: Maybe not as good top to bottom as we are accustomed to but the top is still really good with Virginia and Duke looking like Final 4 teams. Biggest surprise: Va Tech. Biggest disappointment: Clemson Big 10: Best we have been from top to bottom as a conference in quite some time. Teams like Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota are very competitive. Things still run through Michigan and Mich St. for the Big 10 crown. IU can finish as high as third and as low as eight or nine if things really went south. SEC: Best this conference has been in a long time too. Tenn looks like the real deal. Funny thing is this looks like one of the weaker UK teams in quite some time. Biggest surprise: Ole Miss. Biggest disappointment: Florida or Vandy (I know they lost Garland).

I honestly am shocked. Thought he would be a great fit especially with how well he has recruited. I now think he could be on his way out as early as the end of this year. He barely got in last year with Bamba. It's not a good fit.
-
Is it me or is Texas incredibly disappointing. Lost at home to Tech. Shaka seems like he is better suited at a mid major school. Texas now 10-6 on year.
-
Chiefs fan here. Should be a fun one today. I really think Andy Reid is due for a win but the Colts come in red hot. Snow still coming down but it should turn to flurries here and be pretty light throughout game.
-
KState and Ole Miss with huge road wins. Kermit Davis and his team definitely the biggest overachievers so far this season imo. They were picked to finish last in SEC and are now 13-2
-
He, Rob and De'Ron all practiced in some capacity this week, however, Archie made it sound like Jack and Rob were on the side of doubtful and that De'Ron was more questionable but would try to suit up.
-
Regarding the second sentence that was basically every player that was recruited and played for Kelvin Sampson imo
-
I mentioned this the other day. He was run out at LSU and basically a new staff was assembled at Maryland with the new hire. He is an IU guy so on one hand you can point to this and on the other you can point to the fact that maybe he would have come home for a good while. Can't imagine anyone likes switching gigs every year.
-
Is it common for an OC to clean house when coming to a new job in college? I've been around programs where a coordinator was brought in and don't remember that entire side of the ball ever having more than one or two guys leave. I mean this basically happens at Bama with the OC every year and I'm pretty sure Saban doesn't go out and get new WR, RB, QB coaches each time too. Hard to understand where the divide was here exactly. I hope the hire doesn't end up being internal.

There is no such thing as a few days or a one week recovery on this team.

Don't forget guzzling diet coke non-stop

Just curious, what is your preferred realistic hire then? I would love to see someone like Major Applewhite come in but that's just not happening. Even if it did, that type of OC would only be here for a year. At least with Canada, you have a guy that brings a wealth of OC experience and has certainly improved a lot since his time at IU. He did really well at Pittsburgh in 2016, which got him the LSU job. He was a scapegoat at LSU but not the problem. I watched some of his Maryland games and thought their offense was pretty good even with losing QB's left and right. The bonus is he's an IU guy so will hopefully view this as a longer term gig if we can have success as a program. It's fine if you are skeptical but I just don't see many alternatives externally that would be as good as Canada unless you want to sniff around for an OC at mid major or a QB coach maybe at a P5 without any OC experience.
-
I do find it kind of interesting that Matt Canada has been at 6 stops and different schools in the last 9 years since leaving IU. That's a lot!
-
I've seen plenty of examples where coaches have a rough start initially and then turn into very good coordinators with the right coaches around them/just getting experience. Look at Canada the last few years not what he was a decade ago.
