I thought it was a 50/50 call at best which means the home team gets the advantage. -

Smith outhustled again on a rebound. If he played with a killer instinct he could be such a difference maker for us -

This could get ugly. Our offense is embarrassing to watch. -

Agree. It really bothers me how non-chalant this team looks at times. A real lack of fire and leadership. Smith always looks like he is just going through the motions. -

How could Haarns set when he literally just slid over to that spot. Hate the flops that they reward. -
Success of the program in terms of player development, coaching, showing improvement/elevating program, wins/losses, final fours, titles. Kind of a culmination based on observation over the last 10 years or so.

He as definitely next on my list along with Rick Barnes. Agree could slide anywhere in there. Only thing missing from his resume is Final 4 but sure that will come.

I love watching Beilein teams. What a get for Mich. Wisconsin comes in badly needing a win. What do you guys think of this last as far as top 10 coaches in the game right now? 1) Coach K 2) Jay Wright 3) Tom Izzo 4) Roy Williams 5) Beilein 6) Bill Self 7) Mark Few 8) Tony Bennett 9) Jim Boeheim 10) Bob Huggins/ Coach Cal

Indiana Hires Kalen DeBoer as new offensive coordinator
TXHoosierDaddy replied to SlamaJamaSisley's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Major props to CTA here. He could have easily gone internal. And who knows maybe there is a talented future OC on the staff. However, he clearly put aside his loyalty realizing the importance of this hire and the need to get someone in here with a track record of success in orchestrating an offense. And he still made sure his staff remained intact. Debord wasn't a disaster but the offense certainly underwhelmed with him at the helm. Overall, I think CTA he has done a good job of assembling his staff. Recruiting couldn't be any better given where we are at as a program. If we actually start winning more games it's not out of the question that we could do even better. Allen and staff certainly have sold a vision and it doesn't hurt that he seems very charismatic and likeable. Really looking forward to this year (and i've said that the past few but do truly believe with the guys we have battling under center this one could be different along with the OC) -

Agree it is the Board of Directors ultimately. But I am pretty sure Glass had a good relationship with Crean and he had a few quotes about honoring contracts and how important that was. If the Board of Directors hadn't finally had enough last year and the decision was Glass's I honestly believe Crean could still be here. -

First time I can ever remember 1) us going out and getting a young up and comer like this in football 2) us shelling out serious dough I really believe coordinators can make all the difference. Allen can be the lowest paid coach in the BIG but if you have great minds around you that can make up for your deficiencies (offense of side of ball) it's game on. Also, with an 800k salary this guy likely isnt leaving after one season which I am sure had to factor in and makes me excited about the next few years of football. I can't wait to see what this guy does with Tuttle/Penix and with talented WR's like Westbrook/Taylor/Hale -

Keeping Crean 9 years was something I feel like Glass was only capable of. -
UCLA easily has the most talent but they clearly got off to an awful start and also seem pretty soft. Think it will be a four horse race between AZ, AZ St. Wash and UCLA. If more than 2 teams from this conference make the NCAA tourney it will be blaspemy.

Sign me up for this. Much more exciting hire than a Henson. Someone you know would be hungry and very motivated. The only risk is if he succeeds how long he would be in Bloomginton but we shouldn't have that mindset or else we will never get anyone promising with potential.
-
This would be a nice grad transfer pickup. A guard to pair with Phinny in the starting lineup for next year. Not sure where we are keeping the list of potential grad transfers but it's become clear we need more shooters that can play in the BIG! https://www.azdesertswarm.com/basketball/2019/1/16/18186042/kj-feagin-transfer-arizona-santa-clara-college-basketball

You are completely right on the QB situation. The new QB that came in was a darn good one, Drew Lock, but he was only a Frosh with no experience. The football team getting involved in the protests happened at the end of the year and just made the downslide worse but the writing was already on the wall that the team stunk.

Yes, Barry Odom, the Mizzou coach now, who was on staff then under Pinkel as the DC didn't retain him. I'd agree on Canada. Honestly, I think he is the better pick here if he stays a while and they can come to terms on the coaching staff issue (which we really don't know much about).
-
Mixed feelings on this. I follow some Mizzou football and Henson did fine in two of his three years there. He had some nice pieces in place so nothing great. It stood out to me that no one pursued him after his Mizzou gig was done. Found that kind of strange.

I think Durham and Smith have improved but not enough to really matter or have an impact on any games. It's really disappointing all around regarding player development. McBob at least was decent defensively last year. This year he seems like one of our worst defenders constantly getting blown by. Total joke that he and Fizner would ever be in during the same time. Easy 3 on 5 on both ends of the floor.
-
This problem is two fold. One is guys haven't developed like we all thought they would. I'm specifically talking about Davis and Green. McBob has gotten worse due to injury. Durham and Smith have taken small steps forward. The second is a few misses on Archie's part along with injuries to potentially key depth guys. Fizner was a big miss. There were a number of good grad transfers out there that could have really helped this team. I really thought one of Anderson or Forrester would be playing some meaningful minutes so this is disappointing as well. That has hurt as well given the fact that our bench is providing little to nothing in the scoring department. Hunter/Race both being out certainly hurts that depth as well.

Cuse beats Duke in OT. Duke without Reddish (illness) and Tre Jones (shoulder injury). If Jones is out they are in trouble since it clearly looked like they did not have a backup PG.

But he got Blueitt, Dee Davis and Paul Scruggs. He had about as much success in Indiana as any coach outside of Mich St/Mich and OSU. Don't want to beat a dead horse but it's certainly makes no sense that we wouldn't have aggressively pursued him. -

Honestly another head scratcher. How about giving Jake a chance? Can he be much worse than Fizner? How about giving Damezi a few of McBob's minutes. He has lost a step on defense so basically has lost all of his value. Why not try to get someone in that can shoot since we have no shooters. -

He's getting about $4 million at Louisville. But to answer your question I don't think we really pursued him at least seriously. I'm sure it was more about incompetence in general from the AD than a $ figure. I'm just venting because he would have been perfect.
