Right! We've been clamoring for some emotion, some accountability, some passion within this team. I applaud whoever stepped up and started calling guys out.

Tom Crean to be next Georgia coach / 6 year 3.2 Million annually
TXHoosierDaddy replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He swung and missed on so many in-state recruits that I would have had little confidence he could pull it off to begin with. -
Green was in the post game presser. I'm really doubting Archie would send him out if he was involved in a scuffle with emotions running high. I would say Juwan, Smith and Romeo. Romeo and Smith clearly don't like each other and Morgan is trying to be the leader at this point so him stepping in makes a lot of sense.

And here it is folks....Tom Crean lands the #1 player in the country for 2019. His class is now #12 overall. 9 years at IU and he couldn't sniff the #1 recruit ever. -
Glass also doesn't even know what a really good basketball coach even looks like. Chris Mack was right down the road at Xavier and look at what he is doing with Lville this year.
-
That's the thing. We have more talent than we show but we have too many guys that just want to go through the motions. Need more Al Durham's. Very few guys willing to bust their butts on every play.
-
I've seen tension between him and Romeo a few times this year. Makes me think not only is the leadership lacking but there is some divide within the team. Not trying to start rumors but it would explain the lack of cohesion we see so often with this team.
-
Did anyone else think Justin Smith looked like he couldn't have cared less today? I saw him a few times look like he was trying to give as little effort as possible. I'm sure there were a few more guys too. Very disturbing.

One self reported and the other lied their collective a%%es off. Basically, the message here for schools is just to deny, deny, deny

IU vs IOWA 02/07/19 GAME THREAD!
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ALASKA HOOSIER's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Man I thought the opposite. Winning at Mich St to me was exactly the momentum this team needed for a new start especially doing it without JMo for the most part. And we got to come home to AH and play a good but not great Iowa team. Props to them for showing up. Maybe my words weren't right with Green. I don't want him to have the ball a lot or for us to actually rely on him. However, off the bench he is the only guy capable of hitting a few triples. For a team devoid of scoring, it's a big plus if we can get a few baskets from him. When he sunk a few at MSU I felt like it energized the other guys and they kind of played off of each other. The only guy I trust off the bench is Davis but that's not going to be enough most nights. We need another guy to step up or two. -

That was partially Crean's fault. He didn't know how to use Noah. In fact, his offense wasn't predicated at all towards an around the basket big, which Noah was. I would have been frustrated as heck to if I was a second thought on offense and never got the ball in the right spots despite being the most talented player on the court. Noah finally kind of quit towards the end which was unfortunate. -

For whatever reason, Crean always had a hard time recruiting this type of player. The only examples where it seemed like we had real leadership were 2012-2013 with VO/Hulls/Watford and 2015-2016 with Biedfeldt/Zeisloft. I'd also throw in Hartman, Yogi and Rojo over the last two years but the point is this is a short list and needs to change asap -
IU vs IOWA 02/07/19 GAME THREAD!
TXHoosierDaddy replied to ALASKA HOOSIER's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree there has been improvement from what we saw in January but the bottom line is we still can't take care of business at home and looking at the remaining schedule that gives me doubt that we can win any of the remaining games on the road. Is it possible, absolutely . We did it at Mich St but we shot 10-20 from 3 pt range, which we have an incredibly hard time doing. It takes guys like Green to be on and when they are not we just have no fallback options. We'll certainly need to be close to that again to have a chance going away. Ohio St. on Sunday is huge. Lose that and I have a hard time believing we can go to Minny with any confidence to win. -

Both Jake and Clifton are both a liability right now. They go through stretches where they are either lost or get bullied around because of strength. I do think Jake has the higher ceiling due to his athleticism which to your point includes that quickness. I certainly hope he can take a big step in year 2 under the S&C coach because Moore still isn't there and may never be. -

MSU has been the outlier though since December. The rest of the games are filled with so much inconsistency. We played great at MSU but it also helped that they were what, 8-22 from the FT line? It's hard to have any confidence that this team can string together wins, which typically coincides with some sort of consistent play. The only consistency is Morgan typically picking up 4 fouls, this team starting slow (except MSU), and expecting to get very little output from the bench. -

Imagine that he said something positive about IU right before he waas about to go broadcast a game at AH. I can't believe anything from this guy although I do hope this one is true! -

He was doing fine at IU until he lost Kenny Johnson (which by all means ended up being a blessing). Just never found a good replacement for him. Chuck Martin was supposed to be that guy and I believe he got Thomas Bryant but also a mixed bag of recruits like Green, Cujo. Oh and he basically angered all of the AAU/high school coaches in Indiana, which killed in state recruiting. Might just be a matter of time at Georgia or maybe he has learned how to handle differently. I would guess its the former. -

I do think 2013 was more talented as well. Vonleh, Sheehey, Troy, Yogi. On paper, it checked a lot of the boxes. If I recall, this team was right around 25 or so to start the year. That would put us at a 6-7 seed which seemed appropriate at the time. I think we all thought Romeo would take over games, which hasn't really been the case. He's clearly not the main problem as our bench is non-existent due to other guys not developing at all and injuries. And PG has basically been a black hole except for a few games Phinny elevated his play before the concussion. Even if we somehow made the tourney, I feel like Juwan would have to have 30+ and Romeo 20+ for us to win a game. -

I agree. I see a number of familiarities though especially around shooting and leadership. Amazing when you look at the bracketology and see the 8, 9, 10 and 11, 12 seeds currently. From a talent standpoint, we should easily be in the mix. -

Which season is more disappointing this season or the 2013-2014 team? Both seemed to have plenty of talent to make the tournament but neither could shoot the ball consistently from the perimeter. Still enough talent in the starting 5 to be better than this... -

Neither are coming. Allen announced Weaver and Sanguinetti as "closing out" its 2019 class. Jones likely goes to Ohio St. -
B1G Programs on the Downward Slide

Collins would have been smart to move a year or even two ago. I don't think he's viewed as highly as a hot commodity anymore and any talk of him succeeding K at Duke has been put to bed. In other words, Its hard to gauge who would have interest in him. I also don't see his seat warm yet. Chambers is a goner for sure. -
B1G Programs on the Downward Slide
TXHoosierDaddy replied to Chris007's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think Miles is a good fit. He seems really well liked there but at some point you have to ask yourself how much longer can we keep a guy that can't get to the tourney? He is in his 7th year and its looking highly unlikely it happens in 2019 meaning he will have had 1 tourney team throughout his tenure that lost in the 1st round. He's had some bad luck on the injury front losing Copeland this year but 7 years is plenty of time to build a program and it's his/AD's fault they didn't make the tourney last year with their absolutely horrible non-con scheduling. They graduate a lot of their big time guys so if you are going to make a change I think you make it and hope for a fresh restart. Miles is a good coach and somebody will swoop him up and maybe he has better success there. -

Kristian Williams to Oregon. Recent Decommit from Minny that always had us in top 3. https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/sports/high-school/2019/02/06/football-recruiting-kristian-williams-announce-commitment-oregon-indiana/2744269002/ -
Yep the division is going to be one of the toughest in terms of depth. Even Pittsburgh still has some talent.
