Now I'm pulling hard for Wichita State so Archie can get to Bloomington ASAP.

Tom Crean out as head coach
Hoosier in NC replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Hope springs eternal! Even without making the tournament, I feel like we just won the whole damn thing! -
He's nervous / but on the surface he looks calm and ready
-
Not gonna happen. Would have to beat Syracuse. I seem to remember a couple of recent games against them. Tommy seemed to be in a bit over his head.
-
Rutgers has fans?
-
If that's the case, I will be forever indebted to Mizzou if it can lure him away from Bloomington.
-
Regarding Alford, I'm 44 and watched him torch Syracuse in the 87 championship, so I'm from the generation that some of you said would love to have him as our coach. That couldn't be further from the truth. Loved him as an IU player. Will be sorely disappointed if he becomes the coach. Current high school stars were more than a decade from being born when he played for IU. They aren't going to come here simply because he hung a banner at IU. To me this would be a lateral move from Crean. I don't want either of them on the sideline of AH next year.

I just don't want to play Syracuse. Watching Crean coach against them has already done enough damage to all of us. -
Game Thread: Indiana vs Wisconsin (Tonight @ 6:30PM on BTN)
Hoosier in NC replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've never seen a program own a coach the way Wisconsin owns Crean. We could put Yogi, Guyton, Cheaney, Henderson and Zeller out there and Crean would still lose to the Badgers. -
It's come to the point where we now shop up on Kansas and UNC's tournament resumes as a "bad" loss.
-
I don't want any part of that. I'm about tired of being embarrassed by Syracuse. Crean is gone regardless. We shouldn't have to be subjected to watching that train wreck.
-
Archie and it isn't even close. Gregg wouldn't even be next in line on my chart. Bennett would be way ahead of Gregg as well.
-
If by "they hire nobody expects" you mean Brad Stevens, I'm good with that.
-
You guys need to give Crean a break. Yogi was just named Western Conference Rookie of the Month. Surely he got the award for focusing on deflections, and we know who instilled that in him.
-
I'm not an insider by any means; however, based on my one source in the college hoops world, there could be some truth to the rumor of Crean to NC State and Billy D to Indiana. Archie Miller is towards the top of a lot of our wish lists. I've been told that he will most likely not be at Dayton next year and that he originally had eyes for Indiana and Ohio State. Was subsequently told that he will likely end up in Columbus next year or the following year, meaning he won't be in Bloomington. Maybe that means the IU job is already spoken for (Billy D), maybe not. Hopefully so.

That doesn't surprise me a bit. They've given up on Crean. If Crean stays I expect mass defections. It honestly wouldn't shock me to see any of the guys leave, not just Hartman and RoJo.

BtownBanners Meet and Greet Thread 3.0
Hoosier in NC replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Meaning Behind Username: - I'm a Hoosier fan living in North Carolina. Approximate Age and Location: - 44, North Carolina Are you a born and raised IU fan? - Nope. Living in Winston-Salem, I grew up a Wake Forest fan and hated UNC. Wake sucked. All of my friends were Tarheel fans. See next answer. When you first knew you were an IU fan? - In 1981 when IU beat UNC in the championship game. I hated Carolina with a passion and was so thankful the Hoosiers beat them I became a fan that night. Started reading books on Bobby Knight and have been a fan ever since. What sports did you play in High School and College? - High school basketball and baseball. Besides IU, favorite sports teams? - Charlotte Hornets (love that they have Zeller), OKC Thunder and Dallas Mavericks, both for obvious reasons. Did you attend IU? - Only for basketball camp as a junior in high school. Meeting Knight was worth the 10 hour drive. What is your favorite IU Basketball Memory? - Beating Syracuse in 1987 and the Wat Shot. Who is your favorite basketball player of all time? - Calbert Cheaney What is your favorite IU Football memory? - When I took my kids to see them play Wake Forest here two years ago. Who is your favorite IU Football player? - Anthony Thompson & Tevin Coleman Best sporting event ever attended? - For me, it was taking my family to our first IU basketball game this year, even if it was one of the sub 200 teams we played. Stopped by Cook Hall late one night while in town for the game. Tim Buckley was leaving Cook Hall for the night, opened the doors so we could get in, and told us not to tell anybody. Had the place to ourselves. Best IU sporting event ever attended? - See above. What brings you to this board? - My love for the Hoosiers and to try to find out any bits and pieces I can about the state of the program. How long have you visited/followed BtownBanners? - Been reading it for a few years, only became a member within the last couple of weeks. -
Exactly. What if IU goes in this direction and then for some reason Louisville, Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, etc. need a coach in a year? Nothing to keep BD from choosing one of those programs and leaving IU in a really awkward position.

I just hope the place is packed for Collin Hartman. He's a true Hoosier and deserves a night of appreciation from the fans. None of this mess is his fault. -
Sports Illustrated says 80% chance Crean is out.
Hoosier in NC replied to cherrykd's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This means there is a 20% chance I go off the deep end! -
Damn, kill joy. These rumors have made my happier than I have been since we beat UNC. Why'd you have to go and try to burst my bubble?

Indiana @ Iowa Game Thread... #BuckleUp
Hoosier in NC replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Don't think we really need to worry about him winning the next four games. -
Unfortunately, I think it means Colin will not be playing for IU next year. I saw on a different site there was speculation that he has already accepted a job in Indy. As far as what it means for Crean, I have no idea, but I certainly hope it means he's found a soft landing spot.

I'm with you; won't be disappointed at all with Archie Miller. He's at the top of my list, after the pipe dreams of BS and BD. I actually like Tony Bennett a lot, but don't want any part of Scott Drew.
