MSU is almost certainly in the grey by getting Emoni Bates. Villanova has been getting 5 stars recently. Just don’t blatantly cheat like Will Wade and I’m fine with doing what other schools do. It’s naive thinking we’ll win at the level we want putting ourselves at such a disadvantage. -

I’m all for great defense but this game looks like too many of our games under Archie. You have to score to win and I’m not sold Moser’s offense will get enough wins to keep everyone happy. -

At least one national media guy is on our side. -

Apparently IU fans are some unique breed of fandom that is so much worse than every other fanbase in the country. It doesn't matter that the Liddel at OSU needed security after social media threats, or that UNC and UK fans want their coaches fired after one bad year. No IU fans are so scary because after 20 years with minimal success we're hoping not to settle for mediocrity. I'm tired of this notion that IU fans are somehow so much harder to deal with than other fanbases. If UNC, Kentucky, or Kansas fans had to deal with the lack of success that we have the last twenty years I'm sure they would be even worse than us. -

Goodman is such a knob by using the phrase "zeroed in on". It makes it sounds like he's our first choice and turned us down. Maybe we did put a call in who knows but Goodman is definitely trying to make us look worse by the way he phrased his tweet. -

I wish we'd let Dolson actually hire someone before calling him clueless and freaking out. Rumors are just that. UCLA's search took 100 days, they were laughed at during the entire way, and they ended up getting a good coach and are in the Sweet 16 two years later. We have no idea what Dolson's going to be like when it comes to hiring people so everyone should just be patient as hard as that may be. -

Did I miss something? Don’t they play in the sweet 16? -

No the NBA is definitely going more up tempo. I remember Nate Oats actually talking about this during a game but pacing in the NBA has been going up for years but the college game hasn’t been keeping up. Plus I’ve never thought of struggling on offense when it comes to Mike Dantoni. Here’s an article actually talking about how pacing is so high in the NBA now. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.lineups.com/articles/why-nba-game-pace-is-at-historic-high/%3famp -

North Carolina won in 2017 at 40 and Duke won in 2015 at 104. I think a lot of it is from Archies teams being so slow and being hard to watch so most people are weary of going that route again. Looking at those numbers though it seems to me that if you play slow, you have to make a lot of 3s to be successful. I know Nova and UVA both took a high percentage of their shots from 3. I don’t think Moser’s teams take that many but I could be wrong. -

That’s true. Their offense wasn’t great that year though. Only 63 in efficiency compared to 35 right now. I think this team is better than that one. I remember the players from that 2018 team but i don’t remember their play style specifically. -

One of my worries with him is that his offense really seems to rely on an extremely skilled big man. It works with Krutwig but I don’t think it’s that easy finding someone that skilled in college every year. -

Ya ya we all get. I know it’s a one in a million shot. You were saying Woodson all this week and that still hasn’t happened. A bunch of message board posters isn’t the reason the job is hard. So until a new coach is named I will dream a little. -

We're idiots if this is true. Guess the coach can't be dirty if they've never coached in college like some of the names being thrown out. -

It’s very possible. I had friends that have no clue about IU basketball that told me we were getting Stevens last week because of the podcast he made. -

I see a lot of people saying they don't want Musselman because of his motivational tactics. He knows it is cheesy. The players love it though and they say that it keeps them loose before games. None of us think like 18 year olds. Just because we hate it doesn't mean they do. All the guy does is win in college. I could care less how has to motivate people before games. -

Musselman is cheesy but I don’t think he’s weird like Crean. By the end of Creans tenure he became a meme. -

Hopkins is an example of why it doesn’t work. He just went 5-21 at Washington. Extremely underwhelming year last year with two NBA players.Feel like there’s a big jump in responsibility from being an assistant to head coach that I’d rather the guy show that he can handle it at a smaller school first. -

How often does a head coach in waiting work out anyways? I’m struggling to think of any examples in recent times. Izzo I think but that was before my times. If we got Beilein I’d rather him stabilize the job for 6-7 years when we’re in a good position to hire someone better if we can’t get anyone now. -

Also spent time at SLU which is another Jesuit school. Wouldn’t blame him one bit for taking Marquette over us as it seems his religion is a huge part of his life. -
Really smart guy. Graduate transfer after getting his degree in computer and mechanical engineering based off his goodbye message. Impressive doing that in three years on top of basketball.

Whoever eventually gets us back to winning consistently will be revered like no other coach in the country. I hope someone is confident in their abilities and sees the opportunity. -

Maybe I’m naive but there is no way Marquette is a better job. They lost Buzz Williams to the basketball powerhouse that is Virginia Tech. Tom Crean left them for us. Once we get the right coach we instantly jump back to being a top 5 job again. It’s easy to pile on because we’ve been bad for 20 years.
