I'd be at peace with this. It won't win the cannonball contest for the biggest splash, but screw public perception. It will splash for those who know college basketball and those who live and work within it's ranks. We've heard what other big name basketball minds think about McCollum and there's no reason not to believe in that kind of reputation. If he has a run in the NCAA tournament? Even better. It'll add a touch of splash people are looking for. -

It's circadian flip day for me so I appreciate your efforts. I'll be able to embrace my abrupt narcoleptic periods more peacefully. -

I no longer have context for this type of comment because I've spent maybe 20 minutes on here the last two days because work and middle age are stupid. But a quiet day would help me catch up, not to mention keep me level. This week is champ week, boys high school regional, opening weekend for travel ball, and of course the ongoing epic of another IU search szn! -

Agreed. Money levels the playing field for those that have access but have never had clout. However, I would throw in a third important factor: A motivator. We've seen what happens to a coach with considerable X/O skills but zero motivational leadership a la Archie Miller. -

That's any fan base of a high major, basketball-centric program. It takes stones to take on any of those jobs, yet they can get winners. If the fans are too much, you weren't fit for the job anyway. And this job? This job is at the heart of a state that proudly touts itself as basketball country. This program rose to the pinnacle of college basketball, in basketball country, under a hard @$$ who didn't give or accept excuses and had skin thicker than leather. The expectation for this job was set 50 years ago and hasn't been met for 25 of them. The person who can withstand the scrutiny, block out the noise, and handle his s*** is the person we need on our sideline. That person cannot also be the same person who gets feelings hurt by rabid fans. -

3 of 4 losses in OT, and the one regulation loss by 5. They have never been out of any game. -

Efficiency is the biggest issue. Play style dictates the margin for error, more so if your defense sucks. That said, get me a guy who can teach kids to put the clamps on people. There's nothing better than seeing an opponent realize the pillow isn't coming off their face until 40 minutes have passed. -

If the process is still adding possible candidates to the list then they're either horrifically underprepared (not likely) or they're striking out on a lot of candidates before him (also not likely). I think its 'soft chatter', so soft it's nearly inaudible.
