Certainly, that is a real possibility. If the numbers being thrown around here earlier today were accurate, he will be under immediate pressure to win and win big. But you can’t hit a home run without swinging for the fences. Especially when you are trying to undo nearly 30 years of futility. I’m glad Dolson appears to be shooting his shot by aiming for the moon.

Good time for another haiku BTB debates rage, trolls lurk in the midnight thread, coach search never ends.

I have a hard time believing Steven’s would string them along for a month and then be a no. It either is still Stevens or it never was.

Hoosier dreams return, Stevens walks where Knight once ruled, Echoes of the past. Who asked for a haiku?

Happy for the team and happy for Woodson today. It was past time for him to go and he has been rightly criticized for a lot of things by the fan base but the majority of the players do seem to like him as a person. He will always be a Hoosier legend, just not a great coach, and I’m glad he went out on a positive note at the Hall. People taking shots at him today after a win just seem petty. IMO, just be happy we won and be happy we are moving on to better days.

OSU- Ohio Strikers United. Based out of Wooster OH. I am a Hoosier transplant living in Ohio for 25 years now which is hard for me to believe.

I was at a soccer game in the snow in canton tonight as well. Small world. U16 boys.

Last time Steven’s put out his Masshole direct statement that he would not be coming. He has not done that this time and until he does, I will continue to believe that it is him. Certainly he knows there is discussion about him coming. If he 100% wanted that to end, he could release a direct statement and end the speculation. I would suggest it’s significant that he has chosen not to do that.

This guy is funny.

Seems official

Correct. I’m a transplant in Ohio from Indiana. Orrville (Wayne County, Knight) is 35 min north of me. Huggins grew up in Tuscarawas County, 30 minutes east of me. Bobby’s dad, Charlie, is an Eastern Ohio high school basketball legend

Exactly this. I’m a long time lurker and very rare poster. i’m a huge IU fan that lives out of state so I have no information to contribute. This thread has jumped the shark though. I will be moving on until we actually hire a coach. I trust the A.D. and we should let him do his job and support him. For my parting advice, if there are posters that you don’t like, block them and don’t reply to them as tempting as it is. They tend to go away when they don’t get the attention they want. Go Hoosiers!

I know I’m repeating what others have said, but I can’t imagine for one second that Dolson would talk to AAU coaches without: A. Being extremely confident that the Stevens thing is a done deal. B. Stevens knowledge/approval/direction He isn’t stupid and it makes no sense to do it without both points A & B being in place. The scheduling thing is also interesting to me because I asked a ways back how many people thought Stevens had a good working knowledge of IU’s roster and no one really responded. Getting games scheduled without a confirmed head coach indicates that we do have someone we expect and they seem to have a pretty good grip on what the program needs, what our personnel could look like, and on the college landscape in general.

Nice win for Indiana. How many IU games do you think Brad Stevens has watched this year? It’s not like he doesn’t have an important busy job currently, but I would think if he is seriously entertaining the idea of coming, he would want to get a little bit of a feel for the team.

Mole hunt. Dolson leaks info to the board that Stevens isn’t coming. Info leaks. Dolson knows the board isn’t trustworthy and who the leaker is. Stevens really coming all along. I’ve seen Mission Impossible!

Check out his record before that at West Liberty. Crutch can coach- a former player of his is a good friend of mine. I know you weren’t seriously suggesting him as a candidate, but Hoosier fans would hate him- line change subs. He’s also pushing 70.

Getting hammered at a bar when you are one of the highest profile people not to mention best paid state employees is a problem. I suppose you can disagree that this is problem drinking but personally I don’t want IU’s basketball coach intoxicated in public.

I’m a teacher and coach- former student and player goes to Ole Miss of all places. He reached out this week to ask me if I thought IU would go for Beard. He said several things but a couple of interest: 1. Well known there that Beard is/has been interested in IU. 2. He still has an alcohol problem. Students see him hammered out and about regularly in Oxford.

Classy statement, over the top for sure. It doesn’t take too many brain cells to figure out this isn’t really how it went down but that’s ok. I’m fIne with letting Woody save face. I know some of you are much more vindictive, but I just don’t have that in me. IU took the high road and I’m glad. statements like this often end with… “ A nationwide search for the new coach will begin immediately”. That was conspicuously absent in this glazing of Woody -

The number of people that can’t understand that these things take time is really hard for me to understand. There are plenty of contractual and other legal considerations. It’s not as simple as everyone seems to think. The idea that Scott Dolson is just sitting around and doing nothing is mind blowing to me. It will happen when it happens. Unfortunately the suspicion that others outside of the athletic department are part of the equation is likely correct. That’s why you have to proceed carefully. It’s going to happen just be patient. -

At this point, the only thing that matters to me is allowing Dolson to get on with his job and getting a replacement lined up ASAP. Personally, I feel no need to rehash the Woody era. I have already stated my preference for him to be removed immediately, but I don’t know that it really matters that much. The portal will open up quickly, and the new coach needs to be in place to do adequate portal evaluation and current player evaluation as it surely seems we will be replacing nearly our entire roster. Personally, there are very few players that I have any interest in returning, but the new coach might feel differently, and I am open to giving guys a second chance with proper coaching in a better system. -
