(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Sota Hoosier replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IU will be fine with or without Romeo. We've got the right coach and he already has some really talented guys coming in next year. RL may still come to IU but if he doesn't at least Archie got us this far. We are in contention for a bunch of high-level '19 guys and should feel very good about that. I don't understand the Vandy thing either but it is what it is. If Vandy was Adidas it would make more sense to me but I think that's a good reason to think IU hast a legit shot. We'll see. -

Shittu to Vandy per Rabjohns Edit: Rabjohns retweeted Evan Daniels -
Would be great to see some consistent, strong play the next couple games to tune up for Duke and agree that it would be beneficial for Hartman to get some live game action before the Duke game. All I would ask for vs. Duke is to not be intimidated, fight on D, make the smart plays, and make them earn it whether that's from the inside or outside. If we do those things and lose by 25, I can definitely live with that.

Exactly. All these guys committed to IU based on Crean's recruitment and his vision for them at IU. Archie's recruits in his system will show what we can do in his era and I think the second half of USF showed some glimpses of what we'll see in the future consistently.

It was very refreshing to see the guys pull together a solid second half. It finally looked like Archie's methods clicked for an extended period of time and positive results came. The guys were fighting on D, taking care of the ball, and protecting the boards and even making free throws!!! During that first half, several of those TOs were such Crean-type plays it was infuriating....I had to keep reminding myself that all these guys committed to IU buying into Crean's vision and coaching style. Just think of how sad we would all be watching this team if Crean was still the head coach...whoof. I think a lot of the bonehead mistakes we've seen is the result of these guys having to think too much as they're learning a new system and still hanging on to some bad habits. More games and experience should take care of this over time. Newkirk should get limited minutes at best. Durham is an Archie-type PG and has been so solid thus far and Green can be a dynamic play-maker at PG. Playing Newkirk significant minutes will not allow this team to reach its full potential. I really like Smith as well and Moore will come along with more experience and confidence. Our best lineup thus far would be (would likely change with Hartman): PG - Durham (Green is a close second) SG - Rojo SF - Smith/Hartman PF - Juwan C - Davis I love Archie's intensity on the sidelines and how he calls out guys for making mistakes AND uses the bench as punishment. I think this team's ceiling is 20 wins but I definitely think it's possible. -

Watched CAM’s post-game comments. He could not be more opposite of Crean and I️ like it. No BS and gives direct, logical answers. Also looked like he was trying to hide how pissed he actually was and is after these first two games. These players’ mental toughness will be tested big time under CAM in ways that Crean never came close to realizing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

They’re not hitting easy threes, though. Many were contested/fall away/NBA range. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Not sure what game you guys are watching but we’ve dominated thus far. They hit two incredibly lucky shots and we’re moving the ball and getting looks, drawing fouls, and dominating the boards. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I'd like for this be a good game and of course want IU to win but I don't want to get blown out again by one of the big boys. I think we have a real shot at winning if we can hold onto the ball. Our WRs could be difference makers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Remember last year when USC got beat 52-6 vs. Alabama in week 1? Not saying IU is USC by any stretch but losing 49-21 to a potential national champion in Week 1 shouldn't cause too much concern, in my opinion. USC ended up 10-3 and a top 5 team last year. We all would have liked to put up a better fight for four quarters but talent and depth got the best of us. It's much more about how we respond these next three games that will likely dictate how the rest of B1G play and the season goes. -

I am optimistic we will have a bounce back game and that the coaching staff will want to prove we really are a solid football team. There's no reason our defense can't still be a force. OSU is just really, really good so hard to tell what we are/aren't at this point. Hoping we have Ellison start and use Majette for screens/pass plays. -

Absolutely loathed the way we closed the game. They are more talented and incredibly deep but we got worn down and looked defeated well before the game was over. Can't have that. That said, I'm still encouraged. I'd put our receiving corps up against anyone in the country even without Westbrook, (of course he gets hurt on the very first play of the game, classic IUFB). They made the OSU secondary look like children for a lot of the game and especially Cobbs, my god what a beast. Loved the improvement of Thomas and Timien too. I'd like to see Ellison as RB1 against UVA. If we get the running game going at all we will score a hefty amount of points. I think defense will be okay and can right the ship against these lesser opponents before the gauntlet of conference play starts. Let's go out and kick the sh*t out of UVA, FIU, and GSO before heading to PSU. Side note - so awesome to have Bloomington and IUFB showcased like that. It took me awhile to get acclimated since we've literally never seen this happen before. Our stadium looked great and even though it didn't end well I'm sure a lot of students and fans had a blast and hopefully made them want to come back for more. -

Getting excited....hoping we can keep KW from putting up a ton of points. We have too much talent on D to get embarrassed at home. Biggest concerns - the OL and DL. Can we get the running game going and protect Lagow? Can our DL make some plays and get some crucial stops? This team is very talented at WR, LB, and in the secondary and we have an above average QB that can sling it and should be improved from last year. Bringing in a new coaching regime always brings some extra baggage too, especially in the first game of the season. -
Indeed it does

Hey now...I'm a proud Minnesotan (note the username) but I agree on F'ing the Gophers..just not the state :) Had a couple MN pals text me that they for sure thought Race was headed to Minnesota. One of them also said that they think Hurt is leaning towards being a Gopher so let's ****** him too!
