IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?
Bittersince87 replied to IndyHutch's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Under the bill of rights they can stay four years but that does not mean they can play for a team. In a sense they would be converted from athletic scholarships to academic scholarships. In order to do this kids can't play with the team in order to avoid ncaa sanctions. That being said I really have no problem if priller stays or leaves. -
IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?

Again scholarships are only given by a year by year basis . No exceptions and it's not prillars choice if he wants to give it up. It's coach Creans decision and that's it. -
I meant in a sense of fan expectations. Vanderbilt want to be the second best program in the sec and would settle for 2 conference titles in 5-8 years. I go to Tennessee a lot on business and Vandrrbilt has really built up its resources.

Yeah there's no way. He's to attached to his players to make this type of lateral move.

I'm hoping that the theory that pitching wins championships hold water. We have an awesome 1-5 pitching rotation and they each have room to get better. -
Nope da Mets will take it home.

Phillies fan? Lol -
Ugh everyone knows I want coach gone but this is just uncalled for. You can bring up his coaching acumen or his lack of achievements but the guy is a nice guy and doesn't deserve this.

NCAA Tournament Final 4 Thread

U know why . It hurts their ratings. -
Yeah that was scumie thing to do. Kids and family should be left out. Still Roy Williams gets booed in public and that's from UNC. It just sadly comes at a high profile school. Stupid people are everywhere.

Free Market Recruiting

It has to be a cap all division one teams can afford . Otherwise talent will be front loaded and say goodbye to major upsets. -
It can get better. He put no effort at all in defense. None. Nil. Nada.

I felt we were better than anyone on paper except Louisville. I flew to that Syracuse game - I was a broken man . Lol
-
For five years 15-20 million I could live with that . Can't you?
-
I do. I completely agree with that decision. I was proud of our school . I hate no loathe how other schools don't care (UNC). What message does that send to your student body " don't care just cheat to get yours "?
-
Fair enough sir I understand your perspective and this rationality. I apologize if I sounded disrespectful. It's the practical person in me that says no one is going to turn down a 3-5 million dollar a year offer just because a coach just got five, six, or seven years to rebuild the program. It's business and nothing more ( except to us fans of course).
-
We were allowed to play in the postseason, we just weren't good enough to make it. Again that was our choice but that was part of the plan. U really think a coach is going to say " hmmm u hired coach Crean and payed him for eight years but the fans only think five--- I think I'm going to turn down this 3-5 dollar a year contract. So improper." Not really a smart move don't you think?
-
But we chose to do that , Syracuse chose not to and are playing for a final four. I agree with u about the first year though but other programs with bigger blows dealt with it and had continued success in there second year. The guy used 5 years to state his case. under his contract coach Crean had 8. Under your logic he had 7 years . I don't mind if you want to keep coach Crean just don't misinterpret information to sway a point of view. We were nowhere close to a death penalty.
-
legal terms are not the death penalty. Our penalties were given by our own university and that's it. I was actually proud that our university did that but the death penalty equates to forbidding us to play the season in its entirety plus no schlarships to athletes for at least an entire year. SMU got the death penalty we did not. We choose to slow play to stability to start off fresh ( which is fine with me) but other programs like Syracuse and probably Louisville chose a different path. Edit - plus we were not denied television revenue or blacked out from tv.
-
They weren't death penalty circumstances, we did not vacate or dismiss ourselves from any tournament chances. Oh just to also let you know UNC fired its coach Matt Doherty after just three seasons for Roy Williams. Don't put your personal ethics to this , its business and nothing more. Other coaches will not turn down a 3-5 million dollar an year job. Would you?
-
Five years I thought coach Crean had 8?

I also feel OG shot will improve as well. He's a gym rat and see a lot of Victor in him. I wish Troy did the same.
