Admittedly, I may have been a little overzealous. However, I believe that DD and Bryant cumulatively can be better than Zeller and Watford., although Zeller would obviously be the best of the 4. I'm sure reasonable and less than reasonable minds would differ. However, I stand by my position.

In all likelihood, the De'Ron Davis commit means that in the 2016 2017 season the Indiana Hoosiers will have a front corner of Thomas Bryant and De'Ron Davis. This is without question the best frontcourt that Tom Crean has had his disposal since he took the reins for the Hoosiers. Now, with Bryant and Davis, doesn't this make Brown and even Alkins want to sign a NLI with the Hoosiers. Think about a 2016 class with Brown and Alkins and I'm not talking scholarship numbers, it would provide a tremendous class with little to no drop off. We would be reloading rather than rebuilding as they like to say. Reloading is what needs to be the norm. Strong showing this year and strong recruiting class keeps the momentum in our favor. Note to players, staff and fans alike: lockdown and win!

Prepare early for a meltdown!!!

I'm cautiously optimistic about Davis and Brown. It is a bit disheartening to see programs like Mich St. and Duke signed and ready, while we play the waiting game. As of now, we are not MSU or Duke in the eyes of recruits. I look wistfully back at the past and with much hope in the future. Our win total and success in the tournament will mean everything to the program moving forward. We need to be better than MSU this year because we will not be next year barring certain people staying and landing either Thon or Alkins. Just win, baby! -
(2016) SF Mario Kegler to Miss State
Hoosiers219 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It seems like any time we put into Kegler was a waste of our much reported considerable resources. Need Davis. Brown holding off stinks right now, but Davis picking Miss. St. is a swift firm kick to the nether region. Look for Thon, Alkins and spring defections. :) -

Agreed. There is always a defection or two as well. Despite what some programs might believe, the best recruiting tool is neither money nor hookers, but WINNING. Let's win and ride that momentum in spring and the 2017 class. -

Kegler is gone imho. Let's just hope we can get DD and BB. We can then shoot for the stars with Alkins and Thon in the spring. -
(2016) PF Jarrett Allen

I hope you are right. I pray that you are right. Alkins and Maker are obviously one and done difference makers. -

Does anyone think we actually will land this guy? He's taken/has scheduled four officials at this point. IU is not one of them. Doesn't it seem likely Shaka promises him his firstborn to be a Longhorn? It Seems like we have the vast majority of our eggs in the Davis, Kegler and Brown basket. If Miss. State hits and we miss, we will be left clamoring for players late in the 2016 recruiting process. Here is to hoping Howland's pitch is not as good as Crean's. Would be nice to sign Allen, Alkins or Thon, but it doesn't appear very likely in my opinion. -

We NEED two out of three minimum. Scary is not the word really. Kegler would seem to be an acceptable miss, but IU should get Brown and has invested WAY to many resources to miss on Davis. Disappointing and devastating is how I would label missing on these guys. If we get 2 of 3, we can try to ride the momentum from what is expected to be a very good season for the Hoosiers and see about Thon, Rawle or per usual a surprise come spring. -
I hope your gut is right. It frustrates me a little that we are still chasing most of our potential 2016s. Recruits buying in at many programs for 2016 and 2017. Would be nice to see some of that soon in BTOWN.

(2016) SG Bruce Brown to Miami

You're probably right. I still think you can easily be top-heavy with guards with this kind of talent in Crean's system. Heck, we're poised to do it right now. Hoosiers 2016!!! -

Blackmon will leave and Gelon may redshirt and in all likelihood will play very little his first year. This leaves three guards: CuJo, Newkirk and Rojo. BB will play right away. I think there is room for Alkins. In situations like Alkins or Maker, you make room. Tbh, I don't think 5 guards on the roster is a stretch. -
(2016) SF Miles Bridges to MSU
Hoosiers219 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I would hope the program, the school, the staff and the players would convince Kegler et al. A bit underwhelmed with Crean's recruiting, despite the run of MCDAAs it would be nice to feel the buzz like MSU right now with a much lauded class. There is still time to put some pieces in place for 2016, but I read or heard via podcast that CTC failed to cast a wide net this year and I agree. On one hand, it leaves no doubt as to who our priorities are, but it hurts that much more when you miss. I hope I'm feeling a lot better about us at the end of the month. With hopes that we land Thon or Alkins in the spring.
