(2016/17) PG Markus Howard to Marquette
Hoosiers219 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Is he still considering to reclassify to 2016? -
Quote I was thinking of of course. Oh well, time for Super Bowl! Beer? Check. Beer? Check. Goodnight and good luck.

You absolutely MUST win this game. Time to go.

We are who we have been under CTC. Hoped against hope CTC had turned a page, but it is the same agonizing repetition. I f'n feel like Sisyphus w/o the benefit of the cardio.

Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?

Good thing the NCAA is not a court of law, not bound by the rules of evidence nor other trial rules. -
(2016) PF Jarrett Allen

. TB gone? Several people are stating this so matter-of-factly, but I'm not so sure. I don't have anything that remotely resembles inside information I'm just a fan, but it just feels like he is the type of player that would enjoy/benefit from another year of school. -

OG vs Troy - Who Should Start
Hoosiers219 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Troy needs to play to his strengths, i.e. back cuts, baseline plays, some plays from the elbow. I think Troy thrives if the game is simplified for him. With his athleticism, he should be grabbing a significant amount of rebounds. Be an average defender. If he just did these things, he starts and is 2nd Team All B1G next year easy. He Gets way more money after next year with any appreciable growth/maturity. OG appears to have an intuitive sense for the game. I love how he rebounds and defends. He stays in front of his defender and on the ground until necessary. Nice athleticism. Still needs some polish, but all the tools are there. He plays controlled and mostly within himself. Aside, NZ needs to just gather himself, make sure his feet are set, square his shoulders and shoot the 3. More movement=less accurate. Can he take 5-7 shots like this within flow of offense? 6-12 points from NZ within the flow is acceptable with the occasional game where he is "feelin it". Avg. 8.5-10 pts per game? If this team defends and plays to its strengths offensively, we are arguably the best team in the B1G. Not quite yet, but let's focus on Penn state and see, if Uncle Mo can come a callin' during this difficult stretch. -
To be honest, I wasn't sure about Newkirk. I don't really know that much about his game. I just thought he was a true PG. Rojo isn't getting hardly any play at the 1. I haven't really seen much that would lead me to believe that his skill set transfers over to true point guard. Could someone talk a little bit about Newkirk and what he would bring to the table next year? I suppose this should probably be in a separate thread. My bad. Mods feel free to move, if you're so inclined.

Seems like everyone seems to forget about Newkirk. Isn't he suppose to be the true PG? DD is going to do a significant amount of everything his rookie year. Newkirk JBJRojo Troy OG/DD TB DD/OG Colin Rojo Juwan CuJo Remaining cast I'd say that is a solid ten. Would Rojo transfer? I hope not.

OG vs Troy - Who Should Start
Hoosiers219 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Troy has injured his stock this year with inconsistent play and his propensity for TOs. He would be best served to stay another year, if he can grow and learn in the off season. If he "gets it", he would be bordering on a lottery pick. This is a HUGE if BTW. If he can't, he might as well play for pay somewhere. If so, he might want to update his passport because he is a very late 2nd rounder at very best and this is probably a stretch. -
Indiana @ Michigan Post-Game Thread
Hoosiers219 replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've been pretty down on CTC for quite some time, but he does appear to have made some changes and learned from his mistakes. I'm still reserving judgment, but want to give measured props to CTC at this point. Also, kudos to our frosh, but let's forego any one and done talk. TB is the only possibility in the group and I truly believe he would benefit from another year, if for no other reason than maturity/socialization. He can also use work on his lateral movement both on and off ball D. He's improved in this area and I expect to see further improvement as the year progresses. If he gets lottery pick $, I suppose he has to pull the trigger. I think he stays and cashes in after his sophomore year as a top 10 pick. -
Whoever won the prediction thread should play the lottery.

OG is that good defensively.

I hate to say it, but I agree.

In this day and age and with this type of player, 30 seconds is more than enough. I appreciate the day when the 45 second shot clock was appropriate; however, that time has come and gone. IMHO -

If TB goes 25 and 10, I'll be ecstatic. I have to think that we shake off our recent three point woes as well. However, I am concerned that even this will be insufficient to pull out a victory. Much like the recent X-Files offerings, I WANT TO BELIEVE! Go Hoosiers! -

The imagery is comical I will give you that. However, this is a bold, bold prediction. I can only hope that it actually comes to fruition. -
Who are we losing other than Yogi as a starter? TB is the most likely. However, I have a strong feel he will be back next year. He does have some work to do. JBJs injury guaranteed he'd be in college another year. Troy would be ill advised to go anywhere. Sorry off topic a bit
-
At the after game presser, did CTC actually say he was fine with the defensive effort? I thought he led with that and then hedged a bit. How could anyone be happy with the defensive play in the second half? No TOs! You don't call one?! I would have sat Troy BTW. His low bball IQ does injury to his play and the team's. He reacts. He does not anticipate. He doesn't learn. I wish he would because he has tremendous possibilities. As coach, CTC has to try to get through to him, if he has any hopes of playing any minutes outside of the D league.
