2016 April Evaluation Recap
Hoosiers219 replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It would be great. It would be all gravy wouldn't it? We have some in state 2017 studs. Land one or God willing 2 and interstate recruiting will make up the rest. #Hoosier -
"Basketball ring"!!! How do you come to Indiana, ask for votes and mess that up? He's lucky they didn't run him out of town on a rail.

LaLumiere? I know there is a Tyger, but I think he is a freshman. -

He narrowly missed Little 500. Is probably a blessing. -

IU Basketball: Who is leaving? Who is staying?

Based on this tweet or in general? If Troy leaves, unless a high level defection for 2016 or stellar grad transfer materializes, why wouldn't you want a freak athlete like McSwain? -
(2016) PG William McDowell-White to Fresno St

Well, my opinion would differ considerably, but Davis is too good to be the 4th option at the 4. He's going to see 15-18 minutes this year. This is close to half the game for those of us keeping count. [emoji106] -

If Troy would just take the simple shot using his God-given ability, he would be 1st Team B1G. He would also be a no-brainer in the 1st round. If he stays, I hope he cuts down on flipping the ball a and shoot more conventional shots. If he does, he will average 18 ppg next year. -
The time of year where late signees and recently grad transfer talk starts to surface. With the Spring signing period rapidly approaching and semesters soon to wind down, it is always an amusing practice to speculate and scan media outlets about prospective late additions. What do people think about these possibilities as our beloved Hoosiers move forward? I'm inclined to believe Troy is gone. He seems to have elevated his game recently with good Troy showing up far more than bad Troy. He is probably a late 2nd rounder in my estimation. I do not believe anyone else leaves based on their body of work so far. What addition to the team with our 2016 recruits, senior departures and Troy out of the picture makes sense? A wing? Another front court player? UPDATED TRANSFER LIST

Getting close to 20 minutes would be ideal. I suspect you're correct and he'll get an average of 15-18 minutes a game. He will get time at the 4 and the 5, so perhaps his minutes increase significantly as the year progresses. -

Agreed. He'll get plenty of minutes next year. DD will be phenomenal around the rim on D. He will need some time offensively, but I like to think a year is all he'll require to avg. 10 pts a game his sophomore year. He'll grab boards and protect the rim this year. If he's opportunistic on the offensive end, with his defensive proficiency, I think most will be happy. I also feel his D is so good, it makes his O look lesser. I think it's a bit better than what he is given credit for in many instances. -

I agree. I love the idea of McSwain, but with our front court depth, I'm not sure he gets the playing time he probably wants. With that being said, this guys upside makes him hard not to selfishly hope he puts on the c-stripes. It would seem another ball handler would meet an IU need. We have plenty of Gs, but not many PGs. Questions: Can the Aussie come in and contribute early at the PG spot? Could one of our other Gs already on the roster be serviceable or better spelling Newkirk or playing significant minutes? How would this pickup effect our 2017 recruiting? -

DD is a special defense of player. I hope anticipate that he will do for more than "A back up big to give TB a rest." He is a 6 or 7 man and a potential starter in the event of injury. -

I would like to see McSwain and one other player to fill need depending on departures and whether we could land a slam dunk late signee. A true PG or big should TB hire an agent would really round out the roster nicely. -

My belief too. What strikes me is that Thomas Bryant is very young. I think that his maturity might very well require another year in college. I think he would benefit with another year of growth at the college level. His game would certainly benefit and I believe he would be able to answer some of the doubters in regard to his ability to defend the pick and roll and his lateral quickness. I have to imagine that he would creep into a top 14 pic, if he were to stay this year with the Hoosiers. -
Late 2016 signing/Grad Transfer
Hoosiers219 replied to Hoosiers219's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
You beat me to this. He would put up huge numbers for Valpo, if he were to stay. Think McDermott. He would be an immediate contributor, should he take advantage of the relatively newly minted graduate transfer rule. -
(2017) SF Brian Bowen to Louisville

Excellent game! Nice showing especially without Tillmon. Dear, CTC lots of talent up here in La Porte. C'mon up! -

Late 2016 signing/Grad Transfer
Hoosiers219 replied to Hoosiers219's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree, if Rob makes strides or if Newkirk is "that guy". I haven't really seen to many people confidently stating what Newkirk brings to the table. It was my understanding he was to fill this role, but again...the accolades seem conspicuously absent. (I do believe there was a blurb from CTC, but that is all.) I would welcome some feedback or analysis from anyone who has knowledge about this unknown quantity. Thon would fill the spot nicely. A grad stretch four/wing would also be sweet. It will be fun to watch who becomes available. -
Late 2016 signing/Grad Transfer
Hoosiers219 replied to Hoosiers219's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Next couple months should be interesting. Love to see a stretch 4/wing coupled with a true PG. A grad transfer would be ideal. It seems like Thon is both a stretch and a reach, but like to see him in the candy stripes. Grad transfer true PG would be a "bit of alright" as well. Could we do both? I must concede I love following the moves after a season has come to an end. -

UNC unconscious. If you are game planning, don't you have to assume that UNC is not going to get the vast amount of their points behind the arc? When they knocked down three is at this level, how can you anticipate and/or game plan this. If UNC is hitting threes with their superior height and length, they are undeniably the best team in the country. We happen to be playing them on a night when all cylinders are firing at high capacity.
