Send them over to our board. If they think things are bad they can just look at our 4,500+ posts of sniping about whether Tom Crean should be fired. That will be sure to perk them back up again.

(18) Indiana @ Illinois - Pregame thread - 2/25 at 2100 EST on ESPN
Striper replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I went to one game at the faux Assembly Hall, most obnoxious basketball fans in the Big Ten. Second only to OSU football fans for obnoxiousness. I never liked Illinois before that, but after that experience I have relished every win over them that much more... -
The 2011 Crosstown Brawl, and particularly his response to it is more than enough for me to want to stay away from him. There is always a lot of talk about doing things the "Indiana Way"...I would have been embarrassed the way he represented Xavier after that game.

Ketchikan, did the cruise thing with the kids, made my way to the interior years ago, but will have to wait until the little ones are older for that trip.

Dragged my ass up there last summer and my son caught a nice halibut. Was the highlight of his trip!

Things escalated around this place quickly...

Underachieving to what standard? As was noted previously, we were picked to finish second in the Big Ten (no arguments regarding schedule, that is all included in the projection), and surprise surprise we are currently right in line with projections. It may be easy to crap on Crean for previous year's performances, or even the early season games, but the Big Ten year is right where expected, no boom, no bust, right on target. Was the team, from a rankings standpoint, always dragged down by Maui and Duke? Absolutely, but the man has delivered to expectations during the Big Ten season.

Speak for yourself. Adolph Rupp was a raging bigot, and this IU fan would want no part of him in our history, 4 championships or not.

Most recent Bracketology from ESPN has Purdue keeping a #5 seed despite the lose and IU moving up to a #5 seed. More interesting is the potential second round matchup for the Hoosiers against pUKe. I would love to avenge that 2012 loss, and certainly think the Wildcats are a weak #4 seed that could be beaten. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology/_/iteration/237

Quiet game, but great result. Congrats!

Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?

Oh yeah, we can start a Rule Against Perpetuities thread, and maybe a Fertile Octogenarian one as well!?!?!?!?! -
Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?
Striper replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Because historically, self imposed sanctions are more than enough to appease the NCAA... -
Louisville self-imposed post-season ban/Rick Pitino interested in UNLV?
Striper replied to hoosierpap's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Vegas really offers everything Pitino could want: 1) Plenty of Italian restaurants filled with loose women. 2) An inordinate number of strippers and working girls. 3) A place where the white suit is absolutely acceptable fashion. -
Indiana @ Michigan Post-Game Thread
Striper replied to MartintheMopMan's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My biggest compliant and fear early in the season was that this team played with little excitement or emotion (besides the Creighton game and Thomas Bryant). The Duke game they looked like zombies. One complaint that I have consistently had with Crean is that his teams seem to often lack that killer instinct. This was true even at times with the 2012-13 team. Since the New Year this team has developed a true killer instinct. While the quality of their opponents in the Big Ten hasn't been great, they have no problem stepping on the necks of their opponents (not often do you get back to back 30+ point blowouts in the Big Ten). Happy to see that this team has seemed to make a turn, and can only hope they keep it up during the tougher stretch of the schedule. -
My favorite #23 of all time. Hoping for a quick recovery.

New Assist Record Holder - Yogi Ferrell
Striper replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Glad to see Yogi bringing it all together in his senior year and moving his way up the draft board. Now to take care of that pesky national championship thing he was talking about.... -
Sustained winning. 4-5 wins early in a single season does not foster confidence that a winning pattern has been established (particularly if a few of those wins are powder puff pre-season games). Consistent winning and improvement will increase attendance. Attendance jumped after the 2007 bowl game, I expect the same if Wilson can continue improvement in Bloomington.

Prediction League Game 8 (Week 4) IU vs Duke (12/02/15)
Striper replied to Naturalhoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
IU - 74 Duke - 73 Including a mean block by Zeisloft of Plumlee. -
Few people have been able to sum up all that is Duke like Jalen Rose and Jimmy King...
-
Notice, only the Hoosier is smiling. Likely the only one with all of their teeth.
-
I see he fell for the old "Ohio State Weekend" trick...

I am warming up for the game by watching "I Hate Christian Laettner", because I do.

Calling Coach Wilson a "cotton headed ninny muggin" will get you suspended. -
It's not easy being Tom Crean
Striper replied to Walking Boot of Doom's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
But I would generally take the quality of the men developed in our program over those at some others (ie UK or KU). What Crean lacks in some aspects he makes up for, in my opinion, in developing quality men. Obviously there have been some misses that were expelled from the program (just as RMK did in his later years) but look no further than the quality of Zeller, Oladipo, Hulls, Watford, Yogi, Verdell, Pritchard, or Elston. Good players but better men.
